Some friendlies coming up and with Berhalter now coaching we'll be able to see his vision for the team. Saw this article today as well so I figured we can get some discussion going. The younger guys all playing in Europe has me very excited for the future of the squad.

It's exciting and some of these guys are already major contributors on their teams in Europe.
2) This ESPN guy’s lineup bears no resemblance to what Berhalter seems to be trying to put together.
He's a good player for Newcastle can't help if he's misused.

You seem to have your finger on the pulse. Can you go into as much detail as you have time for to describe what GB envisions and what players should land where in terms of "in the mix" at the respective XI spots?
He's also only 25 years old.
Heard that Berhalter wants to use him in a couple of different positions.
Now you could argue that the system Berhalter is attempting isn’t going to work against better competition, and he’s going to need to revert back to a more classic 4-3-3, but I don’t think that’s what you’re arguing.
Cons: Lacks tactical awareness, not a very good 1-on-1 defender, has the touch of a donkey.
Cons number 1 and 2 have improved under Rafa and could continue to improve, but I still don’t know that he’s the answer given he’s going to be 29 when the next WC kicks off, and once he slows down, he’s going to get exploited defensively.
Precisely. So why is this article putting him at RB? We have not seen a US manager who has given such straightforward answers to reporter questions in a long time. It’s really goddamn refreshing to know that not only does GB have a plan, but he’s willing to share it.

Sorry, there was no sarcasm intended. I genuinely wanted to get a better feel than I do now for GB and upcoming players.
GB has said he’s going to try out Adams in that RB/CM role.
Bradley or Trapp appear to be the favorite for QBs right now. Weston M is the linker, Pulisic is the creator. Unclear who the wings are...I’d guess Arriola on the right and perhaps Baird on the left. Pretty sad, but Zardes is probably the Striker/Finisher. As for the backs, something like Ream, Brooks, Miazga.

Man you said it. But ppl will go nuts when Bradley starts in the gold
Cup
Yes. I really thought jozy was going to be something.
Didn't take Ecuador long to figure out that that "tucking inside ... as a second defensive CM" leaves the US with no right back.
If anyone can do it, Adams can, but I'm not sure about it as a system.

Berhalter ... is attempting to institute a system that favors a right back that can tuck inside, help with linkup play, and sort of play as a second defensive CM. ... he’s going to try to play Adams at that role during the next two friendlies.

Nearly led to goal, good thing they are as bad at finishing as we are.
I’m definitely not sold on the formation, but I am relieved that Adams performed really well in it. My big concern with him at RB was that it would hamstring some of his best attributes, yet he seemed to get more comfortable and more active in the position as the game wore on.
I do think this formation could work well against the lesser concacaf competition.
Looking pretty bad since that goal. Chile tied it up quickly and has dominated since. And now Pulisic is out with an injury ...
