Which QB to take...BBIers

BleedBlue : 3/20/2019 2:34 pm
Who do BW and terps want at Qb this year?

Whoever they want is who i want. at the very least we can stop seeing them rip QBs a part of EVERY THREAD.

BBI agree? lol
I’d be ok with either ...

Haskins at number 6 (no trade up) ... or
Rosen for a 2nd ... or a 3rd and a 5th ... nothing more
Or else we wait til next year.

We still have a lot of other needs to fill.

What I believe their plan is (in order)
Saos1n : 3/20/2019 2:40 pm : link
Option 1 - QB Dwayne Haskins at 6
Option 2 - Trade for QB Josh arisen (If Murray is a Cardinal and compensation isn’t absurd)
Option 3 - QB Drew Lock at 17
Option 4 - QB Daniel Jones at 17
Brett Rypien, in the third or fourth round

Murray, Haskins, small drop then Lock. No to Jones.
Haskins...

Fits the bill as a face of the franchise, A+ arm talent, and backed it up with production at Ohio State. Every pick is gamble but if your going to play odds he's our best bet!
Not completely sold on Haskins,

Outside of that, no one.

the limited number of games and the amazing supporting case at Ohio State concern me, but Haskins has NYG written all over him.

I think Sy is going to go in another direction.
Fromm......in 2020

And spending whatever it takes to get him, if needed.
I think
Pep22 : 3/20/2019 2:47 pm : link
it is imperative to identify the next QB in the next 30 days. I think not doing so puts us in an increasingly bad position going forward.

All but Jones work for me. I think at best he's Alex Smith.

that all sounds reasonable.

@anak i too like rypien, but only way giants take another 4th round developmental QB is if they have all their picks and i dont think they will. i expect them to use some to move up particularly in third round
Haskins is a statue.....
MOOPS : 3/20/2019 2:51 pm : link
who has absolutely horrible efficiency in the Red Zone.
Excellent QB when he has a pocket and is given all day to throw. Kerry Collins redux.
Rosen by all accounts I've read is aloof, self-centered and not in touch with his teammates. And Arizona is apparently willing to jettison this first round pick after one season.
After this most NFL ready QB fell to the fourth QB off the board in the the 2018 draft. I fear a Jeff George clone.

Neither.
anyone looking to pacify Go Terps

The Giants Will Need To Trade Up To Get Haskins
Giants38 : 3/20/2019 2:53 pm : link
First, there are certainly going to be teams looking to leapfrog the Giants to get Haskins. I imagine the Jets at 3 and TB at 5 are logical targets, and the Giants will need to move up to stop that from happening.

In addition, the Giants cannot take the chance that the Raiders pass on Haskins. I don’t care what Gruden says, he can always surprise and grab the guy. If you want Haskins, you have to move to 3 to get him, IMO.

I think it was Sy who made the point in another thread; if the NYG determine that there is a franchise QB in the draft, they will take him at #6 not #17. So it would be Haskins, Lock or Jones @ #6 if at all.
1. Murray at #6
SHO'NUFF : 3/20/2019 2:57 pm : link
2. Rosen trade for a 2nd rounder
3. Haskins or Lock at #17
4. Jones in the 3rd
5. Tyree Jackson in the 4th
I'd like
mrvax : 3/20/2019 3:02 pm : link
Murray or Haskins at #6. Rosen for a 2nd rounder. Kyle Sloter for a package of day 3 picks.

Again, I'll be OK with anyone Shurmur picks.
Moving up to #3 will probably cost #17
Oscar : 3/20/2019 3:04 pm : link
The Jets are not going to hook the Giants up.

I would not be willing to trade a lot to move up three spots.
Haskins at 6
KingBlue : 3/20/2019 3:06 pm : link
Drew Lock at 17
I don't really like any of them
bigbluescot : 3/20/2019 3:06 pm : link
outside Murray.

If the comp for Rosen is a 3rd then it's worth it because of the lack of cap commitment involved.

I don't see it with Haskins. He throws late.
Think the best
MotownGIANTS : 3/20/2019 3:08 pm : link
move as stated above is Rosen /w a 2nd and go defense at 6 & 17. WR twice in the 3rd by packaging the 4th-rders.

But If had to go QB Haskins @ 6 and redshirt him is the way to go. Then go BPA rds 1 (17) thru 7.
Add a first
PaulN : 3/20/2019 3:10 pm : link
Round pick to next years draft and get the QB in next years draft, I am now sold on that idea. If they decide to go QB this season then I am not certain on any, more certain on Murray but not at the cost it is looking like, unless the Giants are sold on him lock, stock, and barrel.
my preferences

Options 3 or 4 works. Take best defender at #6.

I like 3 QB’s
Rjanyg : 3/20/2019 3:14 pm : link
1. Rosen for our 2nd round pick
2. Haskins at 6 or a small trade up keeping our 17 & 37
3. Lock at 17 or a small trade up trading only our early 4th round

The other scenario that is most intriguing is getting Rosen and Reddick for pick 17. I would love this.
If he's available in trade,
Go Terps : 3/20/2019 3:15 pm : link
the best option is to trade for Rosen. He's a better player than the guys in this draft, a better fit for our offense, and we could still draft a guy in round 1 next year if things go sour in 2019.

Worst alternative is drafting Haskins at #6 to sit him behind Eli.
Terps...
bw in dc : 3/20/2019 3:17 pm : link
has sort of toggled between Murray and Jackson of late. I think he likes the idea of Murray's speed and elusiveness coupled with SB. And he is intrigued with Jackson's size and athleticism.

I don't like anyone in round one. Essentially I think there is too much risk with all of this year's crop.

Right now, I'm sort of on the Finley bandwagon as a 2nd or 3rd round opportunity.

Lock has a lot to like. He's very gifted physically, but there are mechanical flaws that need repair. I was encouraged by a stat where his completion % would have been 70% or > if his receivers were more dependable.

Sorry, Terps. I spoke for you... ;)
A trade for Rosen
Kyle in NY : 3/20/2019 3:19 pm : link
using something other than our two first rounders is my preferred option as well. Makes so much sense
The truth is that adding a QB in this draft makes little sense
Go Terps : 3/20/2019 3:20 pm : link
We have a QB, and we're trying to win with him in 2019. We should use our premium picks to give him the tools to help achieve that goal.

Just wait until next year when the QBs are better to pick one. And besides I'm still guessing Eli's the QB in 2020.
Eric Dungey

in the 5th round. Big, mobile, smart and fearless.
Hopefully this year
Scott in Montreal : 3/20/2019 3:26 pm : link
- Lock is available at 17 or a trade up so Miami does not take him
- Grier in the second round
- Throw in Minshew as a undrafted free agent (Just to see what he can do) just for shits and giggles. He has to better than Lauletta
- Not Rosen
- Nothing and draft Fromm next season (Not a fan of Hebert)

Murray was the best player in college football last year

..I doubt he makes it to 6.. but he is the only one I'd trade up to get..
QBs
Thegratefulhead : 3/20/2019 3:55 pm : link
Rosen can be had for our 2nd rounder, I would give our top pick if needed. He is the best QB prospect last year and this year.

Haskins at 6

Murray at 6

Jones will be nothing, do not draft.
Like Fromm next year

Beer Man : 3/20/2019 4:35 pm : link
Based on the number of Oregon games that DG attended, it seemed that Herbert was their guy. It seems like DG would like a big/big arm/mobile/football smart QB. This years cast doesn't have anyone checking off all of the boxes.
Kyle Shurmur

Josh in the City : 3/20/2019 5:20 pm : link
in Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins or trading for Josh Rosen. If we draft Daniel Jones in the first round then I would truly believe that Dave Gettleman is senile.

Yes
Biggest. Intake Giants can make is to decide who the future QB
Ivan15 : 3/20/2019 8:58 pm : link
is, but let him slip away. If that QB is Murray, which I doubt, they have to go get him. Same with Haskins, Lock won’t go as high as 6, so if he is their choice, they need to be sure they get him with 17 or a trade up.

Not very insightful. I know.
You cannot go get Murray if
section125 : 3/20/2019 11:16 pm : link
AZ wants him. They will not trade that pick once they determine Murray is their franchise guy.

That being said:
1.) Rosen - cheapest and most easily disposable if it fails
2.) Haskins - no trade up

only at #17 or below...

3.) Lock
Haskins at #6
Torrag : 3/20/2019 11:20 pm : link
Lock at #17
Finley in the 3rd Round to develop

Those guys have the upside and potential to lead this franchise in 2020.
Not unless Haskins is the BPA there.

No need picks at #6. Just like last year.

Suppose they do not want him to replace ELI ? What is this a need move or a search for a QB for the tuture?
