Possible Gettlement is trying for 2 picks in the top 10?

bigblue5611_2 : 3/20/2019 3:57 pm
Just a thought with statements that have been made, rumors that the Giants are not done dealing yet, etc.

Is it possible that he is trying to use a package of picks/player(s) (Shep maybe?) to try and get 2 picks in the top 10 in order to get a QB and a top Defensive player?

Again, going back to the top of the post, with what he's said about "ideally getting his QB this year" (not exact words I know, but paraphrasing), there being rumors the Giants are not done dealing yet, the need for Eli's successor, the stated likeing the "KC model" (QB sitting for a year behind Eli) and the need for a top front 7 guy.

This is just purely speculative on my part, but got to thinking about all of this today with everything that's been talked about so far.

think you're reading too much into his comment that he would ideally like to get a QB this year. I interpret that to mean that he'll take a QB if the ideal scenario occurs. That could mean Haskins falls to #6, or Lock or Jones are available at #17.

Quite possibly. After reading all the comments about how big of a contingency the Giants had at Haskins pro day today and out to dinner last night that they are seriously considering taking him. I also know Gettleman (I just realized how horribly I typed his name in the OP after typing quick at work), really wants to focus on the lines and up front leading me to think that ideally he'd like Hasksins as well still having the ability to take one of the top DL/ER prospects.
isn't it basically a consensus

that the quarterbacks in this draft class are far far worse than those in last years draft class? murray seems like a thug with a 10 cent head, whereas haskins looks like the pilsbury doughboy, never had to make chicken salad out of chicken shit like eli has been forced to (and he is also slower than eli? smdh) and hasn't proven himself for a sustained period. lock and jones are clearly worse than rosen or any of the others who came out last year (except maybe lauletta- smdh again).

i am all for the giants trading up to get 2 top 10 picks and then taking 2 defensive studs, but for god's sake leave QB until next year. how come you don't hear any noise about the chargers, saints, patriots or steelers taking a QB? all are as old or older than eli. shit, aaron rodgers will be 36 next fall and people still claim he's the greatest of all time despite his constantly battling nagging injuries that hamper his effectiveness, or missing multiple games with some regularity, and this past season, showing up his head coach and aiding in the cause to get him fired.

why are the giants the only team of all the teams with an aging QB who desperately need to draft one like yesterday? makes zero sense to me.

gettleman is on record saying he believes the narrative on manning over the last 5 years is unfair and inaccurate and basically reflects the fact that the team had crumbled around him. i don't see how that view comports with overdrafting a QB this year, for the sake of it. gettleman is also on record as saying you cant force it, especially at quarterback and he will take the best player available.

tom brady will be 42 this summer. i realize he's benefitted from HGH (oops i mean TB12) but no one is talking about how clueless belichick is for not having the heir apparent on the bench.

If it were up to Belichick Garoppolo would probably have been the QB in New England the last two years.
The price would be too high to move up for another pick in the draft

too much talent to give up on.
Maybe

12 picks is a lot have.
If no 2020 picks were used
allstarjim : 3/20/2019 4:38 pm : link
And the Giants came away with say, Jonah Williams AND Ed Oliver...that would be pretty amazing.
Get the 2nd round pick moved back up into the 1st round too
USAF NYG Fan : 3/20/2019 4:41 pm : link
I really like that 5th year option for 1st rounders. I wonder if some things might have transpired differently if the Giants traded into the 1st round to grab Collins instead of the 1st pick of the 2nd round. I'm fairly certain they would have exercised that 5th year option.
Don’t see how they get into the top 10

With 17 without giving up a future 1st or at least a 2nd.

Lol ten cent head sure, but thug? Who the hell gets thug from Kyler Murray? I must have forgot when he cripwalked into the endzone. That isn't a dog whistle it's straight up racist.
Gettleman

Well we know that he most likely is not going to trade down.
Cost too much but we can get 10th and 12th overall ....

We move our #6 ( worth 1600 pts) to Denver for their #10 (1300 pts) and their 3rd round (#71 - 235 pts). A sweet deal for them.

Next we move our #17 (950 pts) + Denvers 3rd round (235 pts) + our last pick in the 5h round (22.6 pts) for Green Bay' #12 (1200 pts) in the 1st round

We then complete fixing our offensive line with (check out my man's Voch Lombardi) evaluating Alabama'a Jonah Williams).

Then at 12, we pick up the best TE in the house - (possibly a future ALL PRO) - Iowa's TJ Hockenson.

The rest of the draft- fix the defense

Pre-draft...most words and actions taken by the front office

are nothing more than smoke screens for what they are really going to do
Q Williams at 6 and OL Taylor at 17.
carpoon : 3/20/2019 8:44 pm : link
Trade whatever it takes for Fromm next year.
I'd buy that carpoon, except ...
Manny in CA : 3/20/2019 10:56 pm : link

Quinnen Williams is possibly THE best player on the board and Jawaan Taylor is top ten all the way
