would be 15 this year and two future 1sts. Combine that with a team that is going to be spending a ton of dead money and salary to qbs already it just doesn't seem like a match. They'll need cheap talent with those 1s because of all the money they'll be spending on Alex Smith and Keenum. However, the redskins are the redskins so I can buy it.
I suspect they would want a huge return to pass up on taking Bosa or Q. Williams (consensus top 2 defensive players in the draft). Is Haskins really worth multiple future 1st rounders? When there will be better QBs available next year that they can trade from mid-round-1 up to the top for?
you come away feeling there is no reason the Jets or Washington would try to make that trade.
1. Wash is already paying Alex Smith ($54M) and Case Keenum.
2. Wash has given away draft picks in the past for RG3 and they need young talent.
3. The Jets would sacrifice a game-changing player by dropping to 15.
With all that said. I can see the Jet's making the trade with Washington just to spite the Giants and I can see Washington making giving away draft picks because it is the Washington thing to do.
The Jets aren’t going to fluck around with a stud Â
Just makes sense, but what do I know. Value doesn't seem to match up at #3 so I bet they will try hard to trade out of #3 and still be able to get Williams or whomever they want at OL.
Which would be a very Jets thing to do. Elite DL prospects sitting there for you. Bosa or (more likely) Q Williams... so they will trade out.
RE: I wouldn't put it past the Redskins but the cost for them to move up Â

It does sound like a plant to drum up interest.
I'd say a 1st and 2nd next year the 15th and 2nd this year would get it done.
RE: The Jets aren’t going to fluck around with a stud Â
That's idiotic unless the package is too good to pass up. The Jets would be passing on the opportunity to draft either Bosa or Quinnen Williams. Now if the Skins offered the 15th pick, Daron Payne, OT Geron Christian, and a 2nd then I would consider it.
I like Haskins a lot but not enough to get into a bidding war... Â

But note that the Redskins were out in force today at the Pro Day and Haskins is visiting the Redskins.

They need a young QB to develop same as the Giants and other teams. Makes sense if they fell in love with Haskins as that QB.
It's mores logical to think they would go after Rosen than Haskins, they would have to give a King's ransom to move to the Jet's draft slot.
However, I can see this as a feeler by the 'Skins to try and put pressure on the Cardinals. If Washington did trade with the Jets, that's one more team that wouldn't consider trading for him, lowering the price.
was also well known that Snyder loved Mark Sanchez. He desperately wanted to trade up for him, but didn't have the capital to do so. The Redskins are also going to be bad this year. Snyder could sell Haskins as hope for the future, especially if he plays well. But I still don't think a trade will happen.
Yea I ain’t buying this for a second. The jets need defensive star power in a big way. Why trade down? Agree with you that the jets could just be screwing around.
And the Jets would be losing a blue chip talent. Not happening. A perfect example of why waiting for 2020 for a QB makes no sense. Even a 7-9 finish would put us out of range of the top QB prospects.
That they trade up ahead of us to nab Haskins, I would count on it. The scumbag clueless owner in Washington has to do something to get headlines since he will never get them for winning. I am now focused on adding the key defensive players we are going to need to build a good defense, and we can get our QB next off season. I just don't see it working out this season, plus it is too good a defensive draft to pass on so many great players.
The Redskins would be doing themselves a disservice by doing this, in my opinion.
They're stuck with Alex Smith right now and can't really do anything about it. He won't be able to play, but they can't get out of the contract yet.
They have quite a few holes, and the price to move all the way up from where they are to get to the Jets' pick is going to be massive.
They're going to burn half of their draft capital.
I never peg the Redskins as a particularly smart organization, so it wouldn't surprise me - but it wouldn't be a move that gets them any closer to the top of the division.
there are 3 to 4 obvious difference makers on defense Â
at the top of this draft. It would be nuts to drop out of the three position down to the mid-draft. Going to 4 or 5? Maybe. But going half way down the draft? No way.
you imagine the look on Haskins' face? It would be San Diego Eli-esque
Eric - I believe he is from Silver Springs MD so very possible he grew up a Skins fan.
He is from Highland Park, NJ (at least that is where he played his freshman year) and then moved to MD where he played for Bullis his final three years.
It could be that they trade down and select a lesser pass rusher and grab a center prospect with whatever haul they got from Washington. Whatever they get won't have the perceived potential of an Allen or Bosa but will still be pretty decent. We'd probably looking at Montez Sweat with that middle 1st Redskins pick.
Maybe they'll be in on an Ansah, (fading) Houston/Perry/Collins/Morgan but I haven't heard anything.
The Jets would have to be REAL DUMB to trade out of getting Bosa or Williams.
This. I can't see the Jets even being interested in moving out of the #3 spot unless at least one of two things happens:
1) The Cardinals shock everyone and take Bosa or Williams, meaning the one they don't pick goes to the Niners at #2
2) The Redskins make an absolutely insane and stupid offer.

It's Snyder. Never underestimate the profoundness of his stupidity
Jets still need a lot in a lot of places. A corner, another receiver, a #2 back, a center. They could certainly move out of #3

i am also still praying for a rosen trade that will never happen lol
1-murray
2-bosa
3-haskins
4-Q williams
5-j allen
thats probably a pretty bare scenario for us. i would imagine, the pick would be D white, sweat or maybe gary at that point

There are also other QBs in this draft with potential.
They could be thinking about "paying themselves back" for last year's trade up + though

I think NYJ, OAK and TB are pretty happy to have NYG behind them at 6, with most of the world assuming the Giants want a QB.

That would cost A LOT. It has been done recently, but damn that will be a steep price to pay. I say, go for it Skins.
