NFT: NFT Eggplant Parmigiana in the city

Don in TN : 3/20/2019 5:36 pm
My son-in-law, who lives in TN, fell in love with Trattoria Spaghetto on 12th St, especially their eggplant parmigiana. My daughter found an incredible deal on airfare and hotel for this weekend and booked and paid for it but when she went to book a reservation at Trattoria Spaghetto she found they had closed. Can you recommend somewhere with comparable eggplant parmigiana both in quality and price. What say you of John's of 12th St.?
only Trattoria Spaghetto I know of

was on the corner of Bleecker and Carmine, ate there many times when I lived nearby. A shame it closed, great grub and dirt cheap.

..... you can find a credible eggplant parm at pretty much any halfway decent Italian joint here in the city.
Isn't there a sit down place called 'parm'?

This is fair. Is it hard to find good eggplant (or chicken or veal) parm in NY? You don’t need to go to Raos for it.

Extra sauce, no cheese.

Side basic salad oil and vinegar.

Eggplant parm can differ greatly between restaurants, in fact I only like it at a few places. My test for a new Italian place is their eggplant

Then ask the server, "How's the eggplant?" Any decent server in NY will honestly tell you their opinion and how its prepared. Some might even point you to a different restaurant for what your looking for..
