Our Fair City is going to get a little busy with the Spoleto Festival starting Friday 5/24. You got your Hotel Reservations lined up ??
Friday night the Party at the Point on the Mt Pleasant side of the River is an outdoor concert....always a good time. Or look up the Riverboat Jam on the Water for more musical entertainment.
Yankees Farm Team, the Riverdogs are playing the Mets minor leaguers that last weekend in May.
All the Restaurants mentioned above, plus many more. Just name a major food group and we'll give you a half dozen good recs. They major in fresh Seafood and BBQ down here. Steak gets to be pretty expensive, but hamburgers are an art form. Oh, and Craft Beer Breweries are abundant.
As you get closer to your trip, you can check in with this website to see what's going on....

Things to do in Charleston - ( New Window )
What town do you live in? We live in Summerville, moved down here in 2014.
We went there this past April and had a great time. I would say the "must go" places would be Hominy Grill for breakfast (possibly the best breakfast I have ever had), Husk, and if you are looking for BBQ Rodney Scott's.
If you plan on doing Husk, get on and make reservations now. The dinner slots can fill up months in advance.
Food: Hymans (if you like seafood), Pennisula Grill, Poe's Tavern.

We did all of these things. Patriots Point (Yorktown other ships) was amazing. Carriage Tour is awesome. We rented a boat and went up the intercoastal for a say. We stayed on Isle of Palms. The Magnolia Plantation was also a fantastic day trip. Food is everywhere but for real treat, go to Jack's Cosmic Dogs. Outstanding hot dogs and funky place.
Some of our personal highlights.
Poogan's Porch - We went for brunch, The grits were really good https://www.yelp.com/biz/poogans-porch-charleston
Cailey's Hot Little Biscuit - good place to grab a quick bite to eat if there isn't a line. Place is really small but the biscuits were really good https://www.yelp.com/biz/callies-hot-little-biscuit-charleston
167 Raw - This was recommended by a friend of a friend that's a chef and it was really good. Seafood heavy but they have non seafood items and specials as well. https://www.yelp.com/biz/167-raw-charleston-2
The Darling - We probably went here more than any place else. It was near our place so we would just stop in to have a glass of wine at the bar and I maybe get a couple oysters. Really large raw bar with good prices and while *wife* doesn't do oysters or anything she did enjoy the food that she got. https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-darling-charleston
5Church - Restaurant in an old church. Has great reviews but we didn't eat here. Just stopped in to grab a glass of wine at the bar and check the place out. https://www.yelp.com/biz/5church-charleston
The Ordinary - One of the more 'high end' places. We actually couldn't get reservations and my college roommate somehow got us in through a connection he has. We had a really great dinner. https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ordinary-charleston
Vendue Hotel - Has a rooftop bar if the weather is nice.
While we didn't go to them we got a lot of recommendations for Halls Chophouse, Hanks Seafood, Circa 1886 and Prohibition just didn't have the time. Husk is also highly recommended but we were too late with reservations
All of the above plus
Vendue rooftop bar cocktails and pup fair.
Charleston Grill for cocktails and live jazz, dinner too is very good.
Magnolia's for dinner.

Drink at The Griffon, Burns Alley, Holy City Brewery, the rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel, and along Upper King Street.
Walking around King Street and City Market are always good, also walk along the Battery.
If you have a car Magnolia Plantation is worth visiting, as is Folly Beach and then Sullivan’s Island north of Charleston.

We should get together for Lunch. Carolina Ale House is about the halfway point between us.
