NGT: OBJ posts cryptic message on IG

SHO'NUFF : 3/21/2019 2:45 pm
about needing to reevaluate his life and going dark from social media. Saquon doesn't think OBJ is happy about being ousted from New York. You have to wonder if a simple heart-to-heart conversation could have prevented the trade.

that I lost some of my optimism and had a feeling that things would somehow go down-hill between him and The Giants. It felt like he was a bomb about to burst or
another bullet-in-the-leg sort of caper.

Without attention he sees no reason to live. There are two types of people who play football. Those who love the game or those who love what the game can bring them. He’s the latter of the two. As much as he says he loves the game it’s all bullshit. He rather be on IG all day posting stupidity then be a professional

If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that Odell doesn't love football.

Get a grip.

So try and consider the message Odell Beckham just received and is still receiving through much of the media.

One of the best athletes in sports today just pretty much got told he's part of "the rot" and he now needs to process that, it's probably depressing or at least hard to hear. In crude summary "we didn't trade you because you're a bad player, but basically you're a bad person." As an athlete not sure which is harder to hear (unless you're a psychopath).

I don't blame the guy for taking stock and wanted to retract.

I was not on the "trade Beckham" bandwagon (though I wasn't fiercely opposed to it either), but I can empathize with what he's going through right now.
I bet an all star tri athlete like yourself can empathize with what Beckham is going through.

While I disagree with the sentiment and statement completely, the truth is that it's immaterial to what I'm saying.

People here acting so butthurt and jilted without realizing that we were the ones that shipped him off. That's what my point was.

Also, it was downright fucking asinine to trade a 26 year old who was already the greatest WR in Giants history for an underperforming safety and a mid first round pick. You have a tendency to always want to trade everyone (not meant to be a slight on you).

Was he? How so?

We all get it - you hated him all along. But there are literally dozens of NFL players who are more troublesome people than he is. He's a social media brat from a generation that is almost entirely comprised of social media brats. He's hardly unique in the personality traits that you seem to abhor.

I do not wish him personally any ill will, but candidly, I hope his time is Cleveland is a professional disaster. I am so tired of the bashing the Giants are taking over this trade, especially from every asshole on ESPN.

If you want to quiet the bashing, just root for DG to knock those two picks out of the park and for Peppers to become a foundational piece of our defense. That will make the bashing irrelevant no matter what Beckham does from here forward.

Here's the bullshit: you didn't HAVE to deal with anything. You, just like all of us, make a conscious choice every weekend each fall to participate. It just feels like you make that choice with a morbid enjoyment of being miserable.

And maybe it's a just a matter of perspective - I lost one of my brothers very suddenly right in the middle of last season and it reminded me that what the Giants do or don't do doesn't change a damn thing in my life. Honestly, life is too short to be aggravated every weekend if/when watching the Giants isn't enjoyable, so I sat out the last four games of last season too.

The attachment you seem to have to hating the team you root for is totally your choice. Personally, I just don't think it's worth it.

Yes it is. Beckham is a terrific player, but to me it’s not just the diva stuff. The injuries have become a real concern with him, he has missed 21 games in the past three years. That’s a big deal for one of your top guys. Gettleman did the right thing, and I think he really shocked OBJ. I think Beckham said he called him and said “I’m trading you to Cleveland.”

Why did you have to deal with it for 5 years? Were you strapped to a table and forced to watch media coverage of Beckham for 5 years?

The folks here who got worked up by Beckham seem to be the ones who obsessed about everything he did off the field. I am not sure why anyone cares, but yeah I get it if you can't tune that stuff out. A lot of fans could and did.
