about needing to reevaluate his life and going dark from social media. Saquon doesn't think OBJ is happy about being ousted from New York. You have to wonder if a simple heart-to-heart conversation could have prevented the trade.
CBS article - (
New Window )
He did and I still love him. But he did this to himself, only OBJ and going from a normal human being to beyond a superstar over 2.5 years led to it.
Giants had enough and moved on. I was getting tired of hearing so much I, I, I from him and all the talent he had.
Although he liked Barkley, deep inside he probably had a little resentment he was becoming the face of the franchise. Sometimes competitive people have jealous tendencies.
I doubt you are alone
I don't think too many Giant fans will be happy if he goes on to the HOF in a Browns jersey with a SB or two in tow.

whatever it is.
He wanted Hollywood, Giants shipped him to the Mistake by the Lake
Tough shit, enjoy the $95M, my empathy level is zero.
Yep.
Trading him could end up being a really good move.
So try and consider the message Odell Beckham just received and is still receiving through much of the media.
One of the best athletes in sports today just pretty much got told he's part of "the rot" and he now needs to process that, it's probably depressing or at least hard to hear. In crude summary "we didn't trade you because you're a bad player, but basically you're a bad person." As an athlete not sure which is harder to hear (unless you're a psychopath).
I don't blame the guy for taking stock and wanted to retract.
I was not on the "trade Beckham" bandwagon (though I wasn't fiercely opposed to it either), but I can empathize with what he's going through right now.
Good post, pj. As much as fans can get upset with players they see as detrimental to their team, these are still people. This isn't Ray Rice who punched a woman or a guy who is getting in car fights. He is a young guy who is narcisitc and immature and as a result says and does stupid things sometimes.
I am ok with the trade, but that doesn't mean I have to hold a grudge against the guy. I think he's a decent guy, if not very immature.
All the rest is speculation and static.
Oops ... looks like I messed up and now it’s off to Cleveland ... oh well.
another bullet-in-the-leg sort of caper.
Wayne interview. He’s all about himself
If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that Odell doesn't love football.
Get a grip.
Is this really the thread for your self-reflection?
Yup. And a great trade it was, because in his five years here HE was a CUNT.

don't forget, WE traded HIM.

People here acting so butthurt and jilted without realizing that we were the ones that shipped him off. That's what my point was.
Also, it was downright fucking asinine to trade a 26 year old who was already the greatest WR in Giants history for an underperforming safety and a mid first round pick. You have a tendency to always want to trade everyone (not meant to be a slight on you).

Was he? How so?
We all get it - you hated him all along. But there are literally dozens of NFL players who are more troublesome people than he is. He's a social media brat from a generation that is almost entirely comprised of social media brats. He's hardly unique in the personality traits that you seem to abhor.
I do not wish him personally any ill will, but candidly, I hope his time is Cleveland is a professional disaster. I am so tired of the bashing the Giants are taking over this trade, especially from every asshole on ESPN.

If you want to quiet the bashing, just root for DG to knock those two picks out of the park and for Peppers to become a foundational piece of our defense. That will make the bashing irrelevant no matter what Beckham does from here forward.
Hell I want to run the even and charge admission.
It'll rival the Nazis book burnings for wide and wild popularity.

I bet an all star tri athlete like yourself can empathize with what Beckham is going through.
Not sure why you feel the need to take a shot at me, but I'm not a lot of things that I can empathize with.
Empathy <> sympathy.
He was a fucking loser all along. And if some of us act "butthurt" it's because we had to deal with five years of his bullshit.

Here's the bullshit: you didn't HAVE to deal with anything. You, just like all of us, make a conscious choice every weekend each fall to participate. It just feels like you make that choice with a morbid enjoyment of being miserable.
And maybe it's a just a matter of perspective - I lost one of my brothers very suddenly right in the middle of last season and it reminded me that what the Giants do or don't do doesn't change a damn thing in my life. Honestly, life is too short to be aggravated every weekend if/when watching the Giants isn't enjoyable, so I sat out the last four games of last season too.
The attachment you seem to have to hating the team you root for is totally your choice. Personally, I just don't think it's worth it.
Some of the vitriol is over the top, sure...but let’s be honest, he invites this kind of reaction. The ESPN interview...social media nonsense...he craves attention. Sometimes that attention’s going to be negative
It’s a football game, you watch it for entertainment, treat it as such.
I ve seen this story a 100 times, always pleases me.
Aren’t you a Browns or Jets fan by now? Please do us all the favor.
The Mistake by the Lake.
Culture shock.

And a few posts down you’ve got a guy who enjoys seeing people fail. It’s fucking stupid, and pathetic. Makes me hate being a fan of the same team as some of the people in this thread.
Hell I want to run the even and charge admission.

Geez man, little strong I think. The guy was kind of a diva and got shipped out for draft picks. It’s not like he pissed in your cereal.
Going from the big stage to "off Broadway" - Cleveland.
He was a "prima donna", so what (Joe Nameth was too). OBJ, despite his antics worked hard at his job. "Business is Business", that's all.
