According to Alex Schiffer of the Kansas City Star, Missouri quarterback Drew Lock met with the Dolphins last night for dinner and a private visit, and has a meeting with the Giants tonight after his Pro Day workout today. The Dolphins, picking 13th, signed Ryan Fitzpatrick but have an obvious need for a future starter, whether he arrives this year or next. The Giants, who own the sixth and 17th picks (via Cleveland), are going to try to milk another year out of Eli Manning, but have the same need whether they realize it or not. Lock has already met with the Broncos (who pick 10th), and will likely have even more travel in his future as the next five weeks go on. UPDATE 3:04 p.m. ET: According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Lock also said he has meetings scheduled with those three teams, along with Washington, the Chargers, and Lions. |
Just like Henandez fell from the middle of the 1st round to the top of the 2nd, I think that is what will happen to him (especially if the Cards surprise everybody and keep Rosen).
I'd take Lock in the 2nd (at #37). He does have a big arm, accuracy and touch.

I don't think he slips until the 2nd. Too many teams could use a young QB to develop will grab him even possibly before the Giant's 17th.
My guess a lot of teams were there for EH.
He actually had one terrific Combine. And he can really stretch a football field. His Avg/Rec the last two years is insane.

True, except for the accuracy and touch part.

Got everything right except the accuracy and touch part. That’s the main flaw with Lock
Definitely agree with that.
And interesting you mention the Dolphins at #13 as trade-down partners, GFAN.
If either team (or better both) fall in-love with any of the top QBs (who may still be available at #6), that might be a minor draft Bonanza for the Giants

Does he really have a big arm? His mph were what 52/53 mph. Rosen was like 5 mph faster.
Anything is possible in a post- Josh Allen world.

Somehow those numbers just don't pan out. Haskins was at 58 mph and while I know he has a strong arm it's not as strong as Lock's.
Isn't he a short dude? You know, he has to see over the linemen and all that jazz? Doug Flutie was great in college, but, and all that jazz?
What's so great about this kid that we would give up two #1s and another pick, when we need about 40 players, to get him?

Lock probably isn't getting past the Broncos at 10. No way he falls to 37.

Lock is a FAR superior QB to Josh Allen. It's not even really close. He has everything you look for physically in a QB. He also has the numbers to back it up. His completion percentage has gotten significantly better year by year. The big problem with him is if he can figure out the mental part of being a QB.
After Pat Mahomes destroyed the NFL I believe teams will be much higher on Lock then the media. A guy with decent mobility who can throw from a bunch of different arm angles.

I seem to recall you were a big advocate of trading down last year too. Except it's really just wishful thinking since Gettleman has never traded down as a GM and the Giants as an organization haven't traded down since drafting Kiwi, IIRC. That was 13 years ago.
You might as well be talking about Bosa lasting to #6 and Allen lasting to #17 - that's basically as likely as the Giants trading down in the 1st round, IMO.
