I like him a lot. That is why I want the worst record in tje NBA. Yeah, it'll suck if we don't get the top pick but picking 5 could still get us a really good player. I really like Morant. Obviously I like Zion. Barrett has nice NBA potential. I think Culver (sp?) Has had some really good games too.
Hes a really fun player to watch. KJ was like a more athletic Tony Parker, wouldve been a beast in todays game.
Yeaaaaa hes not like Kevin Johnson, and hes wayyyy more athletic than KJ was my guy. How many times was KJ eye level with the rim when dunking on someone??? Not at all. Ja Morant is more Russell Westbrook/John Wall with a better shot and better court vision. Ive been watching this kid since his freshman year, he is got damn special.
Depending on the team that gets the first pick.
I think the top 5 are strong.knicks will end up with a good player.
I really like
Morant
Zion
Barrett
Coby White
Reddish.

Do you know who KJ was? Hed dunk it on anybody and had a Wall/Westbrook type of lighting quickness, he had a very similar game to Morant. With todays perimeter rules, hes be impossible to keep out of the lane. Morant is from the same mold. Its a compliment, the kid is a beast.
but Morant is also a freak. Check out these two blocks on a single shot. Also, feel free to scroll down to see Zion's freakish block during the UVA game... Lonk - ( New Window )
nowadays, I catch some games but I never watch a second of any other team. I just dont have time. Anyways my question is I was reading something about if the Knicks landed the first pick or two they would trade it to NO for Davis. I understand Davis is probably better than whoever you get with the first pick, but it sounds like they would have to include the number 1 plus a lot of their young assets such as Robinson and Smith Jr etc.. would that only happen if they did a sign and trade? It seems like if they landed the first pick they would be better off keeping it and waiting to see if Davis would come in free agency the following year. It seems foolish to give up so much and if you sign Durant or/and Kylie you would have a team that is good for maybe 3 years? Durant isnt young and while an incredible player isnt there anyway to achieve sustained success in the NBA outside of getting lucky with a free agent?
Again if this all sounds silly I apologize, I really mostly read Dan and 16 and the rest of you guys and cannot really have an opinion as I dont ever watch much anymore.

Too much to digest there. One, yes, we could use that player in a trade for AD. Two, no, I don't think sign and trades are possible anymore. Three, I think we are better off keeping out young guys and signing two max players this offseason. Four, if we sign 2 max guys this offseason we cannot sign AD the following year.

I wouldnt have made the statement if I didnt know who Kevin Johnson was smh. Kevin has hops, no doubt, but nowhere near this kids level. Watched KJ growing up bro, I know my basketball. My statement still stands, hes more the mode of a Westbrook than a KJ and with a better jumper to boot (better than Russ). His court vision is what separates him though. It took Westbrook years to get to the level of passing this kids at. Hes smooth as hell with the ball in his hands and elevates the play of those surrounding him. Hes truly a special talent, and if Phx gets first pick, you can best believe theyll most certainly will be drafting him no. 1 overall.
The Knicks luck has to change in this years lottery. In all the lotterys the Knicks have participated in, since the Ewing lottery they never moved up, only down. The only time they moved up was when Chicago got their pick and it jumped to #2.
So its been many, many lotteries and youd have to think (hope?j the odds will be with the Knicks. And Id be very happy with either the first or second slot. 🙏🏻🤞
All the talk from the most wishfully thinking Knick fan has been about Durant, Irving and Zion; however, what happens if we finish with the 2nd or 3rd pick the draft and are fortunate to draft Morant, how does that affect free agency?
Would we still try to sign Irving? Would Durant come without Irving? Who would you like to see as the 2nd FA?

Excellent question to which I have no good answer. If they're in the #2/#3 slots they need to know who's coming in free agency by draft night (they may already know). I don't see how you draft and keep Barrett if KD/Kyrie is actually happening - he's not helping you much without dominating the ball. Same can be said for Morant, but I'd still have a tough time passing him up. Decisions are much easier if you're #1 or #4/#5.
many misfortunes. Even still I am feeling real good about the tank right now. Barring a complete miracle the Knicks are locked into the worst record. I think we would all agree Zion, Morant or Barrett would look great in orange. Many also think Hunter will be a very good pro. Remember Virginia's system really deemphasizes his talent on the offensive side. You only need one other players to emerge. Usually there is at least one Euro who enters the top five. Also, the tournament usually takes at least one "very good" player and moves them into the "elite" category. Finally, the pre draft camps usually raise one or two guys up. Maybe I am being too optimistic but I really think they will end up with a hell of a player from this draft regardless of how the ping pong balls fall..
I haven't been sweating the draft too much either.
you have Mitch, Knox, Trier and Smith Jr. That is four young players with severe upside. Mix in Jordan who also shows no signs of wanting to depart and I will go to war with that group.
RE: I haven't been sweating the draft too much either.
Havent really seen many college kids who see the floor like he does. His passing is ridiculous, super athletic, decent shot that will get better, can get to the basket at will but needs to get stronger to finish with more consistency. Hes the type of guy that will make everyone around him better. I would take him #1
but I have to wonder if it's because he does EVERYTHING on offense for his team. He certainly has the physical attributes to be a good defender.
Yeah I noticed that too. IMO it's seems low D bball IQ, shutting down chasing his man, or not facing him at all. On the ball his feet are often together if not perpendicular to the man. I also noticed off the ball on O he seems hit or miss motor-wise. Obviously he has some standout rim finishes, even steals & blocks on D. And that might fly in the NBA but worth consideration when weighing top 5 prospects. Many of the other names Zion, Barrett, or the lessers in Hunter, Culver that's not the case on either end
Still JM's thru-the-roof potential on O is worth the risk, and you hope he develops further over time
imo is the most under appreciated player in this draft. He reminds me of kawhi in the way he dribbles and just pops a mid range jump shot like him. I like the fact that he's had a couple years in college and in those years he's improved tremendously. He's who I would want if we can't get Zion
He's so skilled and crafty. And despite being slight of build, is deceptively tough and strong. They basically doubled him whenever they could with a big and he was really good at absorbing contact from guards and bigs alike and still was able to protect the ball with his body and make a play. Played the first 39 minutes of the game and they only took him out after he iso'd a dude and put him in a blender for an easy layup so he could get an ovation for an incredible performance.
The only question with the guy is his defense. Because he literally never comes out and his usage rate is nuts on O, he takes an easy assignment and avoids guarding guys on the ball. It's really hard to tell what his defense is like at all. He leaves that up to a couple of other really good defenders they have. Won't know that until we see it at the next level, I guess.
Rivals. Murray State committed early and he stuck with them, despite other programs coming in with offers. He's also a sophomore, so he's had an extra year of development, although he's still 19.
March: "Wow, we need to draft this guy!"

Watch the Knicks get the fucking 4th pick and miss Zion, Barrett, and Morant. I'm just waiting for it.
Lonk - ( New Window )
Kevin Johnson 2x (one year missed with a 49.9 FG%)
Chris Paul 1x
KJ was a killer before he got hurt. He was the best PG in a playoff series with prime Magic Johnson. Injuries killed his legacy.
Morant can easily join the club mentioned above. Hed be awesome to watch, I hope the Knicks can grab him if they dont get Zion.

Dude. No! I don't need your negativity. The card is in the freezer. Zion must become a Knick.

I'd do cartwheels to get Morant. The comparison has been made by many, but he's Westbrook with a better shot. Insane talent.

Does Morant play D? Can one of Kyrie or Morant play SG in Fiz's system?
you could argue the drsft pick will set the tone for the offseason, get the 5th pick and the offseason could go downhill quickly...
