Needs to replace Richmond with an experienced coach/recruiter and possibly Matt A if he leaves.Mullin and Richmond have offered no recruiting spending summers in California. Time to step up
Mullin's coaching is suspect for the reasons others Â
have described here. Just as much of a problem in my view is that the recruiting seems to result in too many similar type players. Seems like every year the starting five is three combo guards and two wing SF types. I realize basketball is changing but at critical times their lack of anything resembling a traditional 1, 4 or 5 hurts them. Maybe those players just aren't available, but other teams seem to find them.
coming in next year, including 2 McDonald’s All Americans. Mullin is a good guy, but can’t coach a lick. He’s in over his head and everybody at St. John’s knows it. He’ll get one more year to redeem the mess the second half of the year turned into.
But players also seem to be leaving pretty fast as well. How much better would we have been this year with Tariq Owens? Trimble, he stinks but tries, is going to leave most likely as he gets treated very poorly by fans at games and online. Does heron come back? Does simon play his final year? They have to replace a pretty big part of this team. Dont be surprised in a down year and Mullin moving on after.
