on Torres' 3 run bomb.
Gleyber looks great.
bceagle05 : 3/23/2019 1:29 pm : link
A bit leaner this year.
Torres is still a lot heavier than he was a couple years ago
Deejboy : 3/23/2019 2:20 pm : link
He definitely put on some muscle. At the beginning of last year Keith Law said he didn't think there was much power in Torres's bat and he was a 10-15 homer guy in the majors. Torres then went out and hit 24 homeruns in 2018 making Keith Law look like an idiot. But Law just overlooked that Torres filled out. Torres can easily be a 30+ homer guy like Machado.

and that is fine unless we want him at SS going forward. Alot depends on how Didi comes back.

Some roster news
Ace718 : 3/23/2019 5:42 pm : link
Boone said bothe German and Cessa have made the team. German is the likely 4th starter to start the season. Cessa will be the long reliever. Loaisiga has been sent down but will be back once CC has served his suspension and is placed on the injured list.
Yankees have acquired OF Mike Tauchman from the Rockies
Ace718 : 3/23/2019 5:44 pm : link
In exchange for lefty Philip Diehl.
Tauchman is an interesting player
GiantJake : 3/23/2019 8:22 pm : link
He's a LEFTY with some pop and can play all three OF positions. He also has minor league options left. Hoping Cashman found a hidden gem like he did with Luke Voit last season. Tauchman has good minor league numbers and was effectively blocked in the outfield with the Rockies. He hit .320 with 20 HRs and 81 RBIs in AAA last year. Yanks gave up LHP Phil Diehl who looked pretty good in spring training, but the Yanks are loaded in the bullpen and badly need OF depth.

Yes, this looks like a potentially good move. It may mean Bird or Wade starts in AAA, but so be it. We need another outfielder with Hicks hurt. Stanton is raking at the plate but he's not a great left fielder.

Stanton is a waaay better OFer than people realize. He is actually a very good OFer. He was one of the better RFers in baseball but defers to Judge. He was better in LF last year than RF. His UZR in LF was 4.6 while it was 2.6 in RF. Overall he had a UZR of 7.3. Compare that to Bryce Harper who had a UZR of -14.4.

Bill2 : 3/23/2019 10:26 pm : link
don't disagree that he is a better OF than his general reputation, but he did not "defer" to Judge did he?

Judge is a tremendous RF. Im sure we agree?
But the Yankees have an abundance of outfielders....
GFAN52 : 3/23/2019 10:28 pm : link
at least that was Cashman's standard reply when asked about Bryce Harper during the free agency period.
Trapley
Jay in Toronto : 3/23/2019 10:31 pm : link
won the rookie award. I believe he threw 11 scoreless innings.

I remember when the big competition was between Tom Tresh and Phil Linz.

Tresh won and Linz went on to play the harmonica.

This is a stupid comment. Get tired of people who have ZERO idea of what they are talking about going on like what they are saying is intelligent.
