NFT: HBO’s The Case Against Adnan Syed (spoilers)

Boy Cord : 3/23/2019 5:08 pm
This case has probably been debated on BBI numerous times, particularly in relation to Serial, which I have not listened to, but WTH. It’s a damn good documentary.

The defense has provided enough information in the first two episodes that gives me reasonable doubt, primarily centered around Jay Wilds. However, the one thing I can’t get past is Jennifer Pusateri’s recollection of the day of Hae Min Lee’s disappearance. That is, Jay Wilds showed up at her house that afternoon with Syed, who was acting odd.

Wilds is not a credible witness and there is something funky going on with the way he has beaten so many raps in Baltimore the past 20 years. Although he may not be telling the truthful story and may very well be the killer, I find it hard to believe that Syed was not involved at some level.

I couldn’t get through it

the podcast was just so much better and I couldn’t find any reason to power through it. The murder docs are getting stale, too many coming out for cases already discussed in surprise formats, IMO.

I get that. It’s new to me. Doubt I would watch had I listened to Serial. I think I need to listen to the podcast.
Jay was not reliable

BUT he knew where the car was and the podcast never suggested him having any motive whatsoever.

So he definitely was involved. But why would he kill her? It was more plausible that he took part in helping Adnan imo.

You should listen to Serial and then Undisclosed. Undisclosed was produced by Rabia Chaudhry as well, and is self-admittedly biased, but I thought raised alot of good points.

In any case, it sounds like you already are where many people wind up: it’s possible that Syed is guilty, but there’s no way he should’ve been convicted

There’s a theory which suggests that the cops were aware of the cars’ location, and had Jay feed this information back to them on tape. It is the One thing which people hold on to in Jay’s ever changing, ever evolving stories (and he certainly didn’t share it right away.)
Is the HBO miniseries “The Night of”

No, it’s fiction.

Actually, as of right now, I think he was involved with the murder.
I know three people will read this post, ...

.. but, I have since listened to Serial. That was awesome and the first podcast Injabe ever listened to.

I just started watching episode three of the HBO documentary, and they have done more in 15 minutes to inject reasonable doubt than the entire season of Serial.

HBO is all over the cops coaching Jay and really digging into the cell towers. Sued just does a shitty job of defending himself, however. I still think he’s guilty.

"The night of" was a remake of the british version. The wrongly convicted in their version was not muslim. I think it was a mostly white cast.

HBO does a stellar job with their documentaries imo. I agree that there is a lot of murder docs recently. Not necessarily HBO, but in general it feels like there are new ones all the time. I needed something more cheerful so I watched the downfall fall of Elizabeth Holmes
