zac shomler reommendation

Hilary : 3/24/2019 7:14 am
Interesting that he thinks Rosen is a better QB than Haskins.

The giants could do well taking Haskins at 6 a tackle at 17 and using most of the 11 remaining picks for the defense

They could do well using 17 or 37 to get Rosen and using 6 and 37 for the O line and defense.

If Rosen grades higher than the 2019 QBs
George from PA : 3/24/2019 8:26 am : link
I would be fine for a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick trade.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt about bad attitude rumors and my concussion concerns are lessened by last years assault.
Not sure about Rosen’s attitude
Simms11 : 3/24/2019 8:49 am : link
and his ability to deal with the media and criticism in NY. This place is downright brutal for athletes. He’s got a great deal of skill, but I almost think Haskins might be a better face of the Franchise and I also believe Haskins will be a fairly decent NFL QB.
The Giants need to go defense
johnnyb : 3/24/2019 9:10 am : link
With the sixth pick. Take advantage of the strength of this draft and address 5he glaring weakness.
Yes
Rong5611 : 3/24/2019 9:20 am : link
He’s better than Haskins IMO.

I’d be shocked if the Giants take Haskins at 6. Their high profile visit was smoke. They want someone to trade up ahead of them to get him so the one of good defenders that will go high drops to them.

I checked out his Manning video

Agreed with some, didn't agree with other parts. But forgive my ignorance, who is he?

First, the most pressing problem this team faces is still the OL. They need a RT (ideally one who could become the LT in a year or two) and a center who has the potential to start immediately. They are basically those two players away from being a dynamic offense. If the strength of the draft is defense, then we can get quality defensive players with the #17 pick and again in the third and fourth rounds. I am of the mind that we need to grab the best OT prospect with the #6 pick. Of course, the NYG braintrust is going to stick to their ratings of prospects, but if it's close between a defensive player and an OL, I hope they pick the OL at #6. Then again with #37.
Questions about Rosen/Giants
Philu916 : 3/24/2019 9:42 am : link
If Arizona goes Murray 1, they’ll trade Rosen obviously. The idea of NYG possibly taking Haskins and having him learn for a year behind Eli is where my question comes into play. Rosen has already started 1 season in the NFL behind a worse OLine than Giants had a season ago, or close to equally as bad. Would Rosen sir the year behind Eli? In essence wouldn’t he only have 2 years left on his rookie deal if he is starter come 2020, or does Rosen have the 5th year option? A friend of mine has told me in the past that their is the potential that Rosen isn’t in the NFL long term since his father is a doctor, they don’t need money and long term health is a risk.
Not needing the money and making 30 million a year
George from PA : 3/24/2019 9:48 am : link
Are not exactly the same thing....Rosen was raised in a wealthy family....but making 30 million a year is a very small group of people.

As fans we can not determine his love for the game....the Giants must buy into his mental/emotional leadership capabilities
Draft likelihood
Gruber : 3/24/2019 10:01 am : link
The Cardinals are taking Kyler Murray at #1.
The Giants are not taking Haskins at #6.

If there isn’t a QB they’ve “fallen in love with” in this draft, then the smart move would be to trade for Josh Rosen and give hin a season to show what he can do behind a revamped offensive line.
I don't care what the Giants do at QB.
Klaatu : 3/24/2019 10:11 am : link
It won't make a damned bit of difference unless they fix their offensive line first. If they're not going to sign any free agent O-Linemen (or trade for any), then it's imperative that they come out of the draft with an OT who can start right away at RT. I'd also like to see them draft an additional OT (day two or three) worth developing, along with a promising C/OG.
Cluster draft OLand DL

absolute strength of this draft. You fix our problems at the LOS and we will be competitive on both sides of the ball.

He’s just a guy who just enjoys film study. I have to say he’s very good and I do like his work. He doesn’t go with the masses and has his own insight. He’s become a must listen for me.

Agreed, Haskins at 6 then an ER at 17 or 37 then also add a RT, C, G, NT, and DE.

The smart move? You do know Rosen sucks right? The Giants passed on him once. Why would they want him now? If we don’t take a QB now we are going to have a had time getting one next year. I think we are going to win some games next season. Think the better QB’s will be there it of range.
No part of Rosen though.
Isn’t everybody taken in round 2 passed on once?
twostepgiants : 3/24/2019 12:47 pm : link
And then round 3 passed on twice and so on and so forth?

Just because the Giants passed on Rosen at the #2 pick in the NFL Draft doesn’t mean that they would not him on their team depending on the price tag
Big fingers...
Giant John : 3/24/2019 12:48 pm : link
I think the better QB’s next year will be out of the Giants range from a draft perspective.
I disagree.
Giant John : 3/24/2019 12:50 pm : link
If the Giants felt Rosen was their QB of the future (yes franchise) they would f taken him regardless of who else was there to take. C’mon.

no they wouldn’t have. For the 47 THOUSAND time. They took Saquon because they saw him as being a “generational” talent. It’s NOT that they didn’t like the QBs. There has been speculation that they would have picked Chubb if Barkley was gone. We will never know.
