The tip attempt by Dawkins touched almost every part of the rim, was 3/4 of the way down, and rolled out
Not just that but the missed dunk to go up 6, then Fall going out 1 play b4 a missed Zion FT, that bounces around a bit and gets to Barrett, who has just that much more space to put it back w/ Fall out...

That being said, UCF also caught a break on the play where the ball did not appear to hit the rim with 2 minutes left
Barrett clearly shoved Dawkins out of the way for the offensive follow up. Zion forearm shivers the guard out of the way on his way to the basket. Do they ever get a big call that doesn't go their way??????
Because it's Duke. And he's the next LeBron or something even though I become more and more convinced he's going to a dud in the NBA vis a vis the hype.
but it was way too close to overturn. That was the right call IMO given the replays
The ball did not change direction or rotation until it hit the backboard so it is highly likely the ball did not hit the rim, but it was close so the officials did not overturn their original call

Rarely.
Look, with sustained excellence, comes preferential treatment. But it is tough to watch over and over and over again...
RE: Of course Zion got away with an offensive charge there. Â

Zion will be a franchise player in the NBA barring injuries. The only weaknesses in his game are outside shooting and foul shooting and those can be improved over time. I think Ja might be the better pro though because the NBA is a guard's league now
its something entirely different to be down by one and push the guy in front of you on the low block completely out of the way to get the then easy rebound and easy put in....disgraceful!
A good friend of mine who is way more invested in the NBA/NCAA than I am at this point also thinks Zion is going to.... I don't want to say "flop"... but, not be a franchise player and not be as good as he's being projected because he thinks the NBA game has changed in a way where Zion's skillset is going to be less effective.
But, I think he's shown just enough of a stroke where I can see him developing a decent enough shot to keep teams honest. The athleticism and raw ability is just too good for me to be convinced that he won't hit at the next level.
Barrett feels slightly safer - but if you have the 1st pick - and if it's the Knicks, we have to take Zion.
That said, I just need us in the top 3. Any of Williamson, Barrett, Morant and I'm thrilled.
Certainly not to Liberty. Maybe MSU... don't know enough about LSU but it's a survive and advance tournament. If you awarded style points opening weekend Texas Tech might look the best so far ... but it doesn't mean shit moving forward.
UCF went to the line more. They called more fouls on duke than UCF. Zion was called for an offensive foul a minute before his and 1. Barrett probably have a push, but nothing huge and the guy never boxed him out anyways.
Duke was very lucky to win. But the refs had nothing to do with it. It was a great great game. And UCF was kilometers away from winning.
blew that game by keeping Tacko on the floor late. He was totally out of gas. He couldn't move and he is an average rebounder to begin with. Add in his free throw problems and he needs to be out of the game. Challenging Zion up 3 with 15 seconds to go is mind numbing.
That decision and the decision to throw an alley oop when a simple bounce pass works just fine is what cost them the game.
Duke hatred is unreal. What about clear as day block in first half on a 3 that would of been break away layup 5 point swing. Ball doesn’t change direction so should of been shot clock violation. But duke gets all the calls. Also first half Zion hacked on shot by tacko no call.

Agreed. There was an offensive foul call earlier in the game the was a BS call. Like all games, there were missed calls on both sides.
Oh look, all the random Dookie scum comes slithering out from Â
I’m a duke fan so what. Duke did not get every call tonight. Enjoy that it was at least a good game and not a blow out like most of these tourney games. Duke needs to figure things out and figure it out quickly.
Tech wins? Sweet, the biggest obstacle in out title dream is gone!
Duke wins? Hokies go home, the best team in their history craps out in the S16, Buzz is bolting to Texas A&M, and the program will soon return to the gutter.

Oregon has been on a tear lately. Competition aside, when you look at adjusted efficiency metrics (like Bart Torivk's site), over the past month, Oregon ranks 4th in the country going 10-0 with the best defense in the country. It took time for them to adjust without Bol Bol, but they are clicking and they have some "big moment" players in Wooten and Pritchard
Best game of the tournament. Just amazing!
Great. Another game of that rat bitching about every call. Fuck Duke.
Same thing with Zion bulldozing the guy in the lane on their last possession. Typical Dook bullshit

What a finish.
I fucking hate Duke, but the tourney is more intriguing with these kids in the mix so for now it is what it is.
Heartbreaking for UCF... they were right there.
But the officials unfortunately swallowed their whistle.

Getting the 4th pick would be so fucking Knicks.
Much ado about nothing.

You can’t push not getting boxed out...
Looked more like millimeters than kilometers to me.

That push happens on every box out. It was a weak weak box out.
I'll be so fucking bummed if the Knicks lose out on him.
I'll be so fucking bummed if the Knicks lose out on him.
If I have my choice, I want Zion too - if the Knicks have pick 1 - there's no hesitation for me.
But, I can still be fine with Barrett or Morant.
It's the Knicks somehow winding up with the 4th pick that will just make me feel like we're fucked for the rest of eternity.
How much more cruel can it be than that?

Unfortunately, RJB pushed him deeper under the basket.

Two weeks from now when your Wolverines get screwed on a similar play against Duke, I look forward to your response.

Dont be its essentially a 1 in 7 shot we get pick #1
UVA will likely be the only team later this week not playing a top 20 team. Going to be an epic Sweet 16.
I bet you're going to love that Duke/VT matchup...
Rooting for the stadium to explode?
I'm guessing you'll have to begrudgingly root for Duke. The day you pull for VT will probably be the day I question my own sanity.

Should be able to waltz into the Elite 8 at least.
I was actually surprised at the beatdown Purdue laid on Nova - I think they'll take out Tennessee.
UVA/Purdue would be a good matchup.

Who are you rooting for?
When Zion drives the lane, and you're up by three, you DON'T foul. Let him have the basket. You guard the perimeter and let them have the layup.
Then take your chances making foul shots and playing defense.
They gave that game away.
Why? Because they won the tournament in the suckass Pac 12?
Sophie's Choice
Buzz needs to pack it in, let Duke shoot uncontested threes, rebound, and hope their top ten three shooting (nationally) continues.
