The more I think about the Giants options this year

superspynyg : 3/25/2019 8:45 am
and the more I read I would be thrilled if it worked out this way

1. Trade our 2nd round pick for Rosen. I was high on Rosen last year and I have not changed my mind.

2 pick #6 draft Devin White lber LSU. This kid will be a beast.

3. pick 17 draft Celin Ferrel DE Clemson. The more I read and watch on him the more excited I get. I would even be ok with trading up a spot or two to get him.

If he goes early then I am all for drafting a Rt. Dillard, Little or Ford will all be there with Taylor and Williams going first. Dillard would be my top choice. I think he is a RT hog mollie.

We improve our def with two first round talents and get our qb of the future.

So I have stated...So let it be done!!!!

I am not interested in the future. I wouldnt trade the 2nd round pick for Rose, my only concern would be a defense that will keep us in every game. With 12 draft picks and finally having 2 serviceable safeties I think we can do that. Wouldnt mind a WR with the 17th or 2nd round pick and I too am a big fan of White as the first pick.
I am with you on

Rosen, get him for anything other than a first rounder.

However, I'd go ER/OLB at #6. Not sold on White although watching other teams with speedster ILBs is pretty eye opening.

Then I'd get a RT at #17 unless another defender is more highly rated.
I agree!

After all these years of bad football (even 2016 didn't feel like 'good' football) I'd like to see them go all out and finish 9-7 or better, just so there's still something to play for in week 17.
Draft the best DLs and safety and reinforce the OL (draft or trade picks for vet OL, and just leave it all on the field this year. Worry about the future next year, we could all be dead by then anyway.
I tend to agree

A 2nd round a far less risky....as history has shown, hitting on a franchise QB is a crap shoot anyway....

I would go heavy defense....would live to move up to get Q. Williams and follow it uo with B.Burns.

Still holding out hope for Mike Remmers to secure RT. His actions since his Giants visit indicates some kind of informal deal was struck.

Go for N. Adderlly or best FS in the 3rd round....
I’d love Rosen but I’d give the Cards a 2020 second and fourth
Earl the goat : 3/25/2019 8:59 am : link
My three picks for the first two rounds would be

Devin White
Cody Ford
Noah Fant

Defense with remaining 9 picks
I have no problem trading for Rosen.
Klaatu : 3/25/2019 9:06 am : link
You rarely get a second bite of the apple, so to speak, and if the Giants are intent on finding Eli's successor this year, and they liked Rosen last year (but obviously not as much as they liked Barkley), and they like him more than any QB they might draft this year, and a deal can be worked out with AZ prior to the draft, then I say do it and let the chips fall where they may.

However, I think it's imperative that the Giants use at least one of their first three draft picks to upgrade their offensive line. I don't care how bad the defense is. The best defense is still a good offense, and a good offense depends on a good offensive line.
To the OP:

As I’ve said, if the Giants want the guy, I’m in as a fan.

My caveat of course is, will the next concussion be a career-ender for him?

Otoh, what’s there to lose? A draft pick? We’d recover from that
Ive been all in on Rosen for #37 from the beginning...

since there were rumors that the Cardinals wanted Murray.

I just dont see it happening.

But, I think that the Giants have to get at least one premium edge rusher in the draft.

I would prefer two.

I would love to come away from the draft with Sweat and Burns.

said that while the Cardinals offensive line was the worst in the league last year, that most of Rosen's sacks were on him. They said he holds the ball too long and has a bad sense of pressure coming in around him.

I think we need two as well. I am excited about Lorenzo Carter but he is still far from a sure thing and Golden is a rental.

That said, one of the reasons I liked the switch to 3-4 is that I think it is easier to find pass rushers that fit that scheme in the middle rounds than a traditional 4-3 pass rusher. I think we get a Montez Sweat, Josh Allen (fingers crossed) or Burns in the 1st and then another in the 3rd or 4th.
Its all about value
Pan-handler : 3/25/2019 9:33 am : link
And that high in the draft i.e. the top 7. Its B+ (or better) QB , elite pass rush, elite blindside protector , absolute shutdown CB, or borderline generational (or better) talent at a position outside of that (not including STs).

For us in this particular draft therefore you just aren't passing up elite pass rush or QB for Devin White at 6.
For a team looking to both rebuild and win now
UberAlias : 3/25/2019 9:34 am : link
Rosen appears a steal. If they could address their QB with last years #10 pick without having to give up this year's #6, they could land a serious haul addressing their biggest needs with picks 1,2,3. What we are hearing though, if you are to believe local asshats (which I am inclined to), is that they just aren't interested in Rosen.

I keep coming back to DGs "if everything works out" comment. Taken with the "No guts no glory" comment, it really does sound like they think they can address their QB this year. The only other thing I can think of that would be in line with those comments is if they had ideas to move some of these picks in return for ammo to make a bold run at one of the QBs next year. But I'm not really sure how they would pull that off as I doubt anyone is begging to move into our spots this year. Maybe they are in love with someone like Jones. Who knows. I'm not ruling out Lock at 6.
Love

Drafting Devin White and Celin Ferrel, if we don't get our right tackle in free agency, we may need that 2nd round pick for that position if there are good choices, or if we need to move up a few spots to get one. As far as Rosen, no way, he is not going to last 5 years in the NFL, just look at him and you will know it.

There's not a danger we make 12 picks. Gettleman loves a trade up. He had four in four years in Carolina.

Yeah, that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The Cards line was pathetic, David Johnson couldn't run either. I think I also saw the guy say that 60% of the sacks Rosen only had less than 2.5 seconds. He then blamed Rosen for the other 40%.
Aside from the opportunity cost
bigbluescot : 3/25/2019 10:03 am : link
Rosen for a 2nd or 3rd is a bit of a no-brainer, simply because having Arizona eating the bonus makes him absurdly cheap (and reasonably cheap even as a backup). The only issue is I don't think it's smart for him to sit a year or even part of it, if you make the move.

It'd be a very low risk move. But as everything this time of year it all depends on evaluations.
It's not being stated enough how bad the Cardinals were at everything.

An earky 2 is too much for Rosen
Coach Red Beaulieu : 3/25/2019 10:09 am : link
It seems we will be giving away another Hernandez level player, 3 at most and pray Saquon's generational leadership skills can keep Rosen's world class douchiness from tearing apart the locker room.
next yrs 2nd and Shepard
MotownGIANTS : 3/25/2019 11:18 am : link
this way they get a WR which they need a QB in the 1st and they can go WR again with their 2nd. Also with an extra 2nd next yr ammo to trade up into the 1st a 2nd time or move higher in the 2nd IF we do better than expected due to our 2nd being mid rd or later vs top 10 again.

So how long have you known Rosen?
IF the Cards go QB with the first pick,
Doomster : 3/25/2019 11:20 am : link
think they give up Rosen for a second rounder?

What I don't understand about the Cards is this:

If they really want Murray, then they should make it known that Rosen is available....I can't see keeping both.....I think they would get more for him BEFORE the draft than after......I have a sneaking suspicion that guy up in Foxboro may be interested....he might be willing to give his first round pick for Rosen......

If they don't want Murray, then they should be entertaining offers to trade down.....that team needs a lot of players.....

To paraphrase Charley Weis last week on Sirius, the longer they hold on to Rosen, the less they will get for him as they close in on Murray and teams are all wise to that

I think they are trying to get a RD1 pick from someone low in the round, like the Pats, Chargers, maybe the Saints.

The future would be in the defense if our draft picks pan out. Barkley should score points they still have a decent bunch of Wr's and maybe a decent TE. Jury still out on him. What I meant is we can live with Eli another year or 2 with a good or great defense a good O-line and the playmakers we have and then I will worry about the future QB
Can't imagine the Giants

Trading a high pick for a guy they won't play this season and would only have 2-3 years left on his contract when he DOES finally play.
