I Love Clams Casino : 3/25/2019 10:54 am
I use a marinades almost every time I cook chicken or beef and as a result, my Weber Genesis propane grill needs cleaning every spring.

What a mess......so I figured for a few bucks, let me try that copper Yoshi grilling mat....

After 1 use, I kinda love it....anybody else own one?

u do have to clean those also though.
I line my Weber with aluminuim foil, although instructions say not to.
Never a problem and easy cleanup. also clean the top of your grill while it's still hot, easy peasy
Clean?

Just turn the gas on high and let everything incinerate. Brush grates. Done.

Be careful using those mats. They’re Teflon coated which will break down at high heat.
I just clean out the botton

of the grill where the charred residue from marinades accumulates and can cause flare ups.

I do this every couple months.

I put asparagus right on the grates, cross ways obviously, but I do have a veggie tray I use sometimes for smaller veggies.
Maybe I’ve used mats wrong

But to me it comes up as if I fried the meat in a pan and doesn’t give me that grilled taste. Could all be in my head though, who knows.

As for the cleaning. I prefer to deep clean the grill once or twice a year with some beers, versus cleaning the mats every time and having to constantly replace them. Could just be me rationalizing the “manly grill taste” that’s all in my head though.

I want to like the mats, so those who are having good results, please give me tips!!!
Any tips on cleaning one of these grills?

I got a weber spirit last October and used it a lot this winter. I just clean the grates each time but there's an awful lot of greasy residue down beneath the grates where the burners are.

I'm assuming I need to clean it this spring. Do I really need to take it all apart and wash the individual parts in like a soapy bucket of water? Is there an easier way?

I just scrape all that greasy stuff off with a putty knife and suck it up with my shop vac. Also, check the holes / slots where the gas flames come out of that bar. They get clogged over time.
Love my "Genesis"

I've had it five years and never an issue. I clean it once a year in the spring and call it a day. This definitely falls in the category of you get what you pay for.

I started with a paint scraper, one that's about an inch wide will do the job nicely. After that I used one of those hand held steamers...It was still a goopy mess, but with the steamer you can move the sludge around easier and then wipe it. You could use rags, but I'd recommend a heavy weight rag like an old towel to wipe down the remaining grease......I then sprayed the whole thing with that food-safe citrus spray cleaner, hit it with a scrub brush, and then hosed the whole thing down. You'll never get it completely clean....

Use a brush that drops water (or a brush with spray bottle). Steam is one of the best cleaners for a grill.

spray a bit of Pam before I grill. Things don't stick and when I'm finished cooking I leave the grill on low, then when I'm finished eating, I brush the grates and keeps the grill pretty clean. I do a big clean up a few times a year. I grill a few times a week. Weather here makes it a lot easier to cook all year long.

I have a Weber Silver. Brought it to Florida when we moved so I've had it pushing 20 years. Have replaced a few parts but works like a charm.
Cleaning my Weber. Grill Daddy Pro: about $22 keeps the grate

sparkling clean. Takes half a minute after each use.

Once every year or two:

The flavorizer bars go in the dishwasher
The slide out grease trap gets scraped with a putty knife/paint scraper and then it goes in the dishwasher with the flavorizer bars.

I don't take anything apart. Anything else I can reach and scrape gets scraped. Make sure you have newspapers underneath the grill to catch all the scrapings.

My Weber Silver is about 15 years old and it cooks like new.
