I am in a 12 team Weekly Head to Head Categories league (6X6) Hitting- AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB & OBP
Pitching- ERA, W, K's, SV, WHIP & QS
I have 8th overall pick and really wanted one of the top 6 guys. Trout, Betts, J. Ramirez, Arenado, JD Martinez or Scherzer.
I am looking at Yelich, Harper, Sale, DeGrom or Judge as my first pick.
Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance.
Judge gives great stats in Runs,HRs,Rbis and obp. Good stats in avg and poor in steals.
Yelich is good across the board.
Really hoping JRam falls to me.
I'm assuming Trout/Betts go 1/2...
Some combo of Yelich/JD/JRam/Arenado would be the next set of picks I'm guessing.
I was thinking J Ramirez might fall also. Maybe he will be there when I pick.

I am also drafting fifth in a 6x6 roto tonight.
Do you really feel comfortable w JoRam at 5???
I've been thinking about it all day. I'd previously been assuming JoRam goes 4th (after Trout, Betts, Arenado) and I was locked in on JD Martinez.
Now I'm pretty sure JD goes 4th and I'm left with a bunch of obviously strong players but no idea which way to go.
As long as he's healthy, I'd have no problem taking him @ 5.
Acuna is kind of tempting, though...

I'm 100% on board with JoRam if he's healthy. Prior to yesterday was hoping hard that the guy at 4 passed on him.
288 atbats 43 runs 10 hrs 34 rbis 6 steals with a .278 avg and a .348 obp.
might be worth a look
I usually always go hitter with my first pick and will probably do the same. Unless Scherzer falls to me at 8. I am hoping someone goes for Turner and or Sale before I pick so that one of the top hitters I want falls to me.
Nico Goodrum is a name to keep an eye on. He's a potential 5-tool guy who can play almost anywhere. I like Eloy Jiminez on the ChiSox too, but he's a well known sleeper.
I decided to go with a hunch and take Acuna @ 5 - I think he's going to be a near 30 HR guy and still swipe ~25 bags. They have him batting cleanup to start the year, so he's going to get plenty of chances to drive in runs.
I wanted to take JRam but the sharp dropoff late last year and the early injury this year scared me off a little.
Here's he rest of my team... 10 teams, H2H points...

My OF is a little weak, but I feel like those are easier spots to fill during the year - we don't have specific spots, so it doesn't matter where they play in the OF.
Pretty happy with my team overall - my infield should be pretty killer. Pitching is solid enough. Feeling like I'll be able to defend my crown pretty well.

I am so unattuned to points leagues that it's hard for me to judge. I like your SPs a lot (except Archer. Hate Archer).
Offense looks really light on power, but this probably goes back to my unfamiliarity w points leagues and the viable strategies associated therewith.
Rendon had a really strong spring and seems to be one of those guys that fantasy baseball people appreciate more than the average fan. He's an excellent player - also playing for a new deal, so there's tons of motivation there.
I hate the Nationals - even still! But Rendon is really, really good.
I was pretty happy to get Renfroe so late. Still only 26 years old - potential for a 30-35 HR year.
Morton should pitch well in TB. Also had a strong spring.
Solid team you've got - I like it. If Big Luke keeps hitting anywhere near he did last year during his '98 Spencer-ian stretch, it'll be a big bonus. He's really the guy that propelled my team late last year - I scooped him up right when he started to go on that tear.

Turner is a great get in the 2nd - that's definitely a money pick. Nice squad here.
I was pissed that I missed on Eloy. I carried him for almost the entire last month of last year because he was batting like .600 in the minors and it was almost getting silly that they wouldn't call him up. I thought they'd have no choice... but they never did.
Had him targeted big time this year and he got snagged right before I was going to take him.
You should wind up with a pretty nice NY power platoon there @ 1B - I think the Mets are bringing Alonso up with them right away.
Funny, JoRam actually made it all the way back to me... ALMOST.... the guy before me took him on the way back the pick before. I was so close to netting him anyway - I would have been thrilled.
I was happy to take Javy instead - the 2B/3B/SS triple eligibility was a big plus there. I like targeting guys with positional flexibility because it allows me to move guys around and keep everyone in my lineup. Mostly why I took Marwin later on - I can plug him in anywhere.
Max Kepler was just sitting there super, super late - I don't put much of any stock in ST, but he's had a really good one and maybe this is finally the year for him. He's been that guy for the last couple of years that people are kind of waiting for a breakout on.. but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe this is the year.
The best pick for me was Seager - he fell into the 9th round. The injury and lost 2018 seemed to really scare people off - but he's ready to go to start the season and actually homered yesterday or the day before, IIRC in his first Cactus League action.
He was gone in either the 4th or 5th of mine.
Would Harper or Judge be too early in your opinions?

I never take pitchers early but last season had 12th pick and took Scherzer with one of my picks and was best move as I rode team to finals. Free agent pick up help immensely but having that ace and getting a win and 10Ks is nice also.

on who to take at 8. I really am hesitant on taking a pitcher that high but I might be looking at Sale, DeGrom, or Harper or even Judge.

Which SP would you go with? Sale or DeGrom. I think Sale could be better but I just hate how he breaks down at the end of the last couple seasons. That is my only concern.
At 8, depedning on format, my list would look something like
Trout
Betts
Arenado
JoRam
JD Martinez
Acuna
Trea Turner
Yelich
Judge
Of that list, clearly Betts and Trout will be gone in 100% of leagues. After that, not out of the question that any of those guys could be available at 8. I'd take all of those players before I considered a pitcher.
To answer your question, no, it's absolutely not crazy to consider Judge there.

Thanks bigbluehoya. My list looks really similar but I am not that high on Turner or even Acuna at 8. Someone might take one of those guys before me so I might get my choice of player anyway. If not maybe I will just go Judge. Thanks again.
