Help exponentially dust his experience alone. Back 4 has been a bit of a shit show w the Apple drama, lac of an even decent FS and over all depth. If Beal can be a legit starter they can literally shore it up w one or two good depth picks this year.
Reese could Rarely find starters after the first couple rounds. You can’t survive in the NFL when you miss on even back up level players later.
Is how the rookies seemed to out perform the vets last year under bettcher. This year even more kids and less vets. Let bettcher do his thing with the kids.
Large Y-o-Y performance improvements on Defense usually Â
Don’t bother having expectations. Just when you think things are lined up perfectly for a drastic stabilizing of the team, the powers that be go in a direction that you never even thought possible. Eli Apple and Eric Flowers come to mind. I know they were Reese drafts but even going back to prior regimes, things never even go remotely the way I expect. Maybe one pick goes the way we think but the rest is all over the place.
an Ace pass rusher- a guaranteed 10-15 sack guy who gets consistent pressure. Of course, find this is easier said than done.
Really hoping the Giants can snag a top pass rusher in rd 1- maybe Allen or Q. Williams fall to 6. Otherwise, I like Brian Burns at pick 17 if he makes it...
If in fact both QB Murray & Haskins go in the top 4; well, a blue-chip DL like Ed Oliver should be there at #6. Oliver doesn't have the hype or resume of Alabama DT R. Williams but his junior year was outstanding and he has that "first step" quickness that you simply can't teach. Some say he doesn't fit our scheme but I'm sure Bettcher will maximize his skills, perhaps a DE in a 3-4?
I'm for drafting 12 or more guys rather than trading up a lot.
#6 - DL
#17 -RT - if possible, maybe we can get a starting RT? Maybe? OL rookies do tend to struggle so signing a healthy Remmers for a year could be a good idea.
Thinks it is doable and he also knows our defense has to be upgraded to do that. Said as much not long ago. Luckily for us this is a strong defensive draft and his record in picking defensive players is not that shabby. Exciting stuff.
Same site did a projection of the starters on offense and linked within that is a an analysis of Eli. Pretty good overview of his strengths/weaknesses although much more to the negative on E and what he can do going forward. One point that struck me was their critique of his footwork both without and under duress, and they crapped all over him re: his abilities in the screen game. Hard to argue with this one point on the screen game - the Giants haven't had a good or even solid screen game in a long while, even with Saquon last year.
