He very recently has said he is ready to fight again. He has also done this before. There was already lots of noise about him vs. Diaz 3. Dana White quickly gave a statement saying he was happy for McGregor. Personally, I think it would be good for the sport if he actually did retire.
Could be legit

He has seemed disinterested over the past 2 years, to say the least, and was handled pretty easily by Khabib. The guy is mega rich, he’s likely lost his passion for getting his brain beat in
If he’s smart he retires.

He’s never been as good of a fighter as his fan boys thought. Amazing showman. Smart enough to talk his way past better fighters many times. He’s a brand. If he fights Cowboy Cerrone, Al Iaquinta, Kevin Lee or heven Khabib again and loses his cred and personna take a hit.

Maybe he comes back for the right price but my guess ishis endorsements and out of thering income makes getting his ass kicked again a lot less palatable. He’s not an idiot. His skill set and size at 155 makes his fights there toss ups. Every guy I mentioned has a better ground game and good enoug stand up to make any match up at best a toss up. The wrestlers are going to do what Khabib did. He retires now he can still claim to be a great two time champ. He keeps fighting too tired guys he will be lucky to go 500 which again hurts his legacy.

If he does come back he should fight Nate. Easier fight. Nate hasn’t faught in years and is too lazy stylistically to try and change anything up. I also think The grind of a camp doesn’t speak To him. It’s insanely hard and he’s right. He doesnt need the money.
Wish this guy would retire too

Now that UFC PPV is exclusive to ESPN+

These guys have lost a ton of leverage and earning power.

McGregor’s deal pays him points off the PPV buys he fights on, but now that ESPN plays an annual flat fee to UFC for those shows, suddenly the entire US market is gone.

This is 100% about getting a reworked deal.

How much? He proably will fight again but it will be 2-3 tomes at most in sideshow fights. He’s got to fight side show matches Khabib will kill him next time. He needs Nate or some other WWE style match. He’s not a top 5 LW
