Montreal_Ms : 3/26/2019 10:39 am
Hi Everyone. Sasha here. Montreal Man's daughter. We have finally solidified plans for my father's memorial. If any of you want to attend, you are all welcome. Feel free to pass along this information to anyone you might think may want to know/come that is not on BBI or may not see this post.

Come help us remember and celebrate the life of John Boni on Sunday, April 7th.
PLACE: West End Theater in Carrboro Arts Center
300-G E Main St., Carrboro, NC 27510
(close to Chapel Hill, NC)
TIME: 12-2pm
**cash bar

Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to The Comedy Cures Foundation, a national non-profit whose mission it is to entertain, educate and unify grown-ups and kids living with illness, their families, and medical caregivers (comedycures.org), or to Kidznotes, a local Durham/Raleigh organization with a vision to be a catalyst for change that uses music to build a thriving network of children, families and partners in which the passion for music unleashes the human potential to transform lives and communities (kidznotes.org).

Once again, thank you all for all the love and support you showed my father in life, and my family in his passing.
Thanks for the info, Sasha.

Your dad was a good man, he will be missed.
I am going to try and

make that event. It is roughly 4 hrs from here but, though I never met him, I have "known of" him for years here.
Can't be there

I met your father many times and always left saying to myself, "I pray I'm as energetic and good spirited as that man when I'm his age". Will look to make a contribution in his honor, thank you.
I would love to be there and I will be relatively close...

Like many others here, I attended games, camps, and events with your Dad many times over the years. I am going to do my best to be there. Prayers and good wishes to all your family.

you for the information. I never met your father, but it's easy to see why he was beloved by his family and friends. We will miss him.
Like some others, I was fortunate enough

to have met "Montreal Man" on several occasions over the years, mostly at camp in Albany. My son and I sat with John at one Giants game when my boy was maybe 8 or 9. John was always a prince, of course.

Years back, maybe in the 2005/06 time frame, I was asked by a friend to teach a 2-day "writing in the workplace" course at Binghamton University. I'm not a teacher at all, but the $ offer was one I couldn't refuse, so I reached out to a few people (teachers/writers) for advice.

While a couple of them were helpful "in bulleted form," John was happy to get on the phone several times and talk some things through. He sent through email outlines he created for me as a helpful guide, and he offered online links to help fill two 6-hour sessions of various types of writing.

I knew I was in a bit over my head, and when John realized I was essentially scared shitless, he ramped up his efforts to support and encourage me. That's the thing I will remember most.

People so often offer cliches, catch phrases and empty platitudes when someone passes. But John Boni really was a great man who I admired very much. It's hard to process the reality that he's gone.

Your family has sustained tragic losses, I hope you have found some comfort in the support of your family and friends and in the knowledge of Gods Grace and Love

Unfortunately I'm unable to attend the service. I just wanted to let you know I thought the world of your dad. I had the distinct pleasure of hosting him at many tailgates over the years. Such an amazing man with wonderful stories. As you know, over the last few years he only made it to a couple of games but I always found it amazing how he had the energy to make the trek. I only wish I hugged him longer when he said to me this past season "Mike, I think this might be my last game". May he rest in peace..
Condolences to your family. John was an intelligent and passionate

always looked forward to camp as he was a fixture as many were. Always had a smile, kind word, and usually a funny story. He's in a better place now.
