Card's won't commit to Rosen, but Gruden commits to Carr

Pan-handler : 3/26/2019 1:25 pm
"Yeah. He's going to be our quarterback," Gruden told the NFL Network's Jim Trotter at the Annual League Meeting. "I'm not going to address all the rumors. I could care less about the rumors. He threw for 4,100 yards. Threw for almost 70 percent in a very dire, tough circumstance. So I've got a lot of confidence in Carr; what he can do with Antonio Brown, with Tyrell Williams, with Trent Brown coming in here to help our offensive line."

While Gruden doesn't truck with rumors, he didn't quell them either as he added that although he believes in Carr, the Raiders will still be sending personnel to meet with Oklahoma's Kyler Murray and Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins -- quarterbacks projected for the first round in the upcoming NFL Draft.

"Yes we are. We're going to meet with a lot of guys at every position," he said. "We're not going to look past anybody at any position. We have the fourth pick in this draft and we're going to make sure we get it right."

Still looking at other Qbs, but Gruden is at least giving a big vote of confidence to Carr. I'd be surprised if they didn't stick with him at this point.

I liked the Jim Trotter interview

He didn't hold back at all. He pressed Gruden.

That said, I think the Raiders will grab a QB at some point in the draft.
I didn't think the Raiders were ever a question for the QBs

Gruden is a vet QB guy. But as I said in the thread I started about Mayock, I will be watching the Raiders closely.

1) Because I like Mayock and I'm curious which direction they go in

2) The old Raiders would be liable to do something like take DK Metcalf at 4 and disrupt the board.

An interesting team to watch.
Mayock knows for certain

what college QB, if any, is worth it to tge Raiders. Doesn’t matter all that much what JG says a month before the draft, 8mo
Not sure I understand the connection to Arizona/Rosen.

The Cardinals pick first. They don't need to worry about contingencies. It they want a particular QB, they can have him. For all the Raiders know, the first three picks could be Murray-Haskins-Lock, or Bosa-QWilliams-Allen, or whatever. They have to cover all bases.

Only in that it is almost a foregone conclusion that Murray goes #1.

just trying to talk up the prospect of taking murray to try and drive up interest for the likes of the raiders, redskins or whoever to up the trade offer to move back, the consensus previously was they take bosa or one of the other passrushers at 1

but they would be much better served turning that pick in a defence heavy draft into several picks and moving back a few spots its the time of year when teams flat out lie and create false rumours to try and maximise thier draft position who says that isnt what this could be too?

they traded up to get rosen and after half of a rookie year your going to bin the investment they made, rosen will garner a second or third round pick at best in any trade now.

i didnt want him but it makes you wonder if the cardinals feel he is a cancer in the locker room as was discussed heavily last draft time and thats another red flag for any team considering trading for him particularly the giants since DG has talked up the importance of a winning culture since he arrived

gruden is also just as capable of lying about murray too lets see where his commitment is to carr if murray is still on the board when the raiders pick? and see what happens

id much prefer a trade for carr than any part of rosen. the giants should stay at 6 and take haskins in my view but if arizona or the raiders take a QB they have the possibility to trade for another QB for a second or third round pick and use thier 6 and 17 picks on strengthing the defence

if its a second or third round pick they could still go for QB next year if they dont like what they see in any traded QB they can still move up next year or they could be in position to take one of 3 top QB next years draft

could be thats why they cleared the decks with vernon and OBJ now fill up with young guys on defence now so you can throw a few picks to get your guy as the rams, redskins and eagles did previously and defensive players usually take longer to adjust to the nfl than on offence

haskins wants to play for the giants,is a local kid and he is a pocket QB with the size and measurables DG covets he would be a good fit for the giants i hope they do get him
