But I figure the NFL will figure out some way to fuck it up. The concept of replay is pretty solid. Yet, it doesn’t seem to make the calls any better. How the fuck this happens is beyond me. But, I guess we can hope for the best.
is a bad idea. It will really slow down games that are already too long. Make PI a 15 yard penalty like college, and extend the five yard chuck rule to 10 yards.

+1 5yrd chuck rule is ridiculous in light of this development.
Think it will slow down games? The amount of challenge flags didn't change. So a PI gets challenged instead of a fumble or a fumble recovery. What's the difference?

While you are correct with what yoy say I think this has more to do with the last 2 minutes of each half.
I know there have been some bad calls that have impacted the outcome, but PI can be called on just about every pass, and I see this frustrating the game more than benefiting it
The idea that replay consistently and correctly repairs wrongs has been proven false for a long time now. Why enlarge the probelm by applying it to one of the most difficult judgement calls in the game? It's going to be a nightmare.
Not a fan of going this route.

It is more likely that teams will exhaust their challenges vs just not using them but the crux of your statement, I agree with. It wont substantially extend games.
in the NFL about legalizing the forward pass. And then, heaven forbid, they drastically changed the shape of the ball to make it easier to throw.
If these new rule changes don't work, they can be changed. If they do work, maybe the NFL won't have to take as much heat from the gambling...er gaming industry.
But, it now opens up that can of worms where we are breaking down every frame of a potential play, and trying to determine if there was a foul. Every little tug and body contact that can be interpreted differently any game.
on this issue of games being too long and IR slowing down games. The Giants game can't be too long for me. I wait all week for it, my family gathers at my house for it each Sunday, making it a family event. I would rather have the game last 4 hrs than 3 hrs.
And I think the drama of a challenged call while all of us debate the outcome and watch replays just adds to our involvement in the game. I read so much about the games being too long and I just don't get it. If I look forward to, and enjoy something, it can't last long enough.
is really the subjectivity of the penalty..me personally, I feel like PI, defenseless
player, and roughing the passer all need to be scaled back. Review isnt the answer. The way these rules are enforced on the field needs to be addressed.
Was the game so bad before instant replay? You took the good calls with the bad calls and that was it. Whatever they called, they called. Now you still have to take the good with the bad, it's just open to debate.
Interference anyhow. The defender always has a hand on the receiver. Belichek will destroy this system. With 3 minutes to go in a game, Brady will throw a pass and if it is incomplete Belichek will challenge it. In slow motion there is pass interference on every play. There will be 5 identical plays every game that will not be called and when it is challenged they have to call it. Ridiculous
Games Are Too Long....but not because of Challenges Â
It's because of the ridiculous amount of commercials.
I don't watch the NFL anymore, other than Giants games. Watching games I don't have a real interest in these days is as dull as watching baseball (on television).
Wow it includes "Non-calls".

that replay has been more wrong than right?

Why? Just make it one of the 2 challenges. Don’t add the number. You get what you get

Up the amount of challenges coaches can issue. This 1+1 system is stupid.
make it like TOs. you get 3 a game or 2 every half and just get on with it.
Any penalty that results in a FD should be reviewable.
This rule seems to add subjectivity, not remove it.

And that's the part of replay I can't stand.
They let that go way too much in favor of the offense.

NFL football games will be like watching "The View" while striking a hammer to the side of your head.
