For a 6th round pick, is that true?
Damn

And Paul Perkins is still on the Giants.

So we made the right choice after all! Haha

Why did he sour in Chicago so fast? 25 total TDs. 2x 1000 yard+ rusher and was just shy of it last year. Still on his rookie deal.

Bears trading RB Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 6th-round pick in 2020 that can become a 5th-round pick, league source tells ESPN.
Damn that
mattyblue : 3/28/2019 8:34 pm : link
could be a good trade
I like Howard but
Emil : 3/28/2019 8:34 pm : link
You can find Jordan Howard type running backs in round 4 of every draft.
One dimensional back
Br00klyn : 3/28/2019 8:35 pm : link
Not very involved in the passing game. Not the type of RB teams are looking for these days. With that being said hes pretty good running the ball. Seems like a good deal for the eagles
F You Beara

They got him for pretty much nothing

that's a good deal for the Eagles.
wow
eric2425ny : 3/28/2019 8:47 pm : link
Horrible trade for the Bears. Might as well have just held onto him. So they are rolling with Mike Davis and Cohen it looks like.
WHY CHICAGO.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 3/28/2019 8:47 pm : link
WHY?
How do they Eagles get these guys in trades
nyjuggernaut2 : 3/28/2019 8:48 pm : link
for next to nothing??? It's baffling.
Once we beef up on D in round 1
eric2425ny : 3/28/2019 8:50 pm : link
it wont matter who they have running the ball. Their fans eat shit for crying out loud.

Hell of a trade for the Eagles.

Fuck you, Bears.

They may eat shit but, unfortunately for us, their favorite team has been pushing the Giants shit in for a while now.
Hard to imagine

that Lurie once stripped Roseman of his personnel authority in favor of a Chip Freaking Kelly. That team was perilously close to wandering the desert for 40 years.
I f*cking hate the Eagles.

From top to bottom. I'm still pissed that we had people on this f*cking website rooting for 'em over the Pats. I entered this world with them never winning a Super Bowl & wanted to leave it with them still ringless.

F*ck the Eagles.

can't believe they got him for so little though. They got a proven back for what is usually camp fodder. He's only 24. Really good pick up for the eagles.
I also echo SFGFNCGiantsFan's sentiments. F them hard

I think Howard was coming up on

A pay day and the bears realized they werent going to pay him and wanted to try to get something for him now. Thats my take.

This, but they should have gotten at least a fourth or fifth. I mean if I were the Bears I would have just held onto him and not worried about getting a sixth round pick. Hes a good RB, not great, but better than what they have had the last few years which doesnt help our cause, hence the frustration from posters.

Antonio Brown was had for a 3rd and 5th, and despite his age is still a dominant injury free WR. Jordan Howard is a dime a dozen RB.

The AB thing was a fraud and should not be a litmus test for grading trades. He acted all crazy for like two months to force his way out because he and his agent knew the Raiders or probably one or two other teams would jump at the chance of getting him for a low ball offer. That was orchestrated chaos. Not comparing Howard to AB from a skill level in any way, but a sixth round pick in next years draft is a silly trade for a decent RB.

Only a (insert pick)? Worst GM ever! Such a lopsided trade. If I was GM I would have gotten 4 1st round picks at least

Funny how even as the returns for these players continue to come in, it always seems like people assume team should have had better options.

Just finished a long, rough day. Great read, made my day.

Good Eagles hate story from this week. 20 something year old kid on the dock sees my Giants hat and gives me some Eagles bs. I turn around, smile at him like I recognize him and asked "Are you that guy that was eating horse shit?" He denied it but told him he realllly looked like that guy.
He can't catch
AcesUp : 3/28/2019 9:59 pm : link
One dimensional RBs that don't impact the passing game don't have much value. Chicago upgraded with Mike Davis and got something in return for a guy that would have been 3rd on the depth chart or cut. The Eagles slightly upgraded at RB2 in their committee. It's a whatever trade.
I'm just glad the eagles think they are set at QB
rasbutant : 3/28/2019 10:04 pm : link
Because they would somehow get Rosen for a conditional 7th round pick if they were in the market.

Howards skillset
UConn4523 : 3/28/2019 10:37 pm : link
puts him in the NFL a decade late. You need fast, dynamic RBs. Hes a change of pace bruiser at this point. Hes slow and doesnt scare opponents. Dont care about this trade at all.

Hes a great rb to have to milk a lead with cause he can carry it 6-7-8 straight times in a row. Good goal line back too.

Hes not a bad player but he certainly isnt going to make them something more.

guy averages 1000 yards rushing a year and is not one dimensional. He can catch. Nagy fell in love with Cohen and the Bears gave Howard away. Good get by the Eagles.

mike Davis an upgrade? Guy has been in the league for 5 years during which he has rushed for 850 yards total. Total. He never carried more than 112 times and hes 2 years older than Howard.
Homer
AcesUp : 3/28/2019 11:33 pm : link
Yeh he is. More explosive runner and a factor in the passing game. Good point on the stats too, less tread on the tires. Chicago signed Mike Davis for money than they were paying Howard only to trade Howard for peanuts. This isn't a crazy assertion.

Howard caught 20 passes for 145 yards in 624 snaps.

Gallman caught 14 passes for 89 yards in 155 snaps.

Howard's averaged 3.9 yards/carry the last 2 years behind an average OL.

Gallman's averaged 4.0 yards/carry the last 2 years behind one of the 2-3 worst OLs in the NFL.

Now, Gallman may not be able to sustain those numbers if he was given 500 carries over the 2 seasons, but Howard's far from some elite RB. He's a workhorse with bad hands. He's not even as good as the guy he's replacing (Jay Ajayi).

I agree with this 100%. This is a typical trade where fans see a name they recognize and go crazy. Ajayi is a much better player.
Eagles might get a better comp pick for letting him go next year

Everyone probably said the same after they acquired Ajayi, who's still available on the open market.
I hate that team more than anyone, but you have to work pretty
jcn56 : 3/29/2019 9:47 am : link
fucking hard to try to paint this as anything but a good move for them.

Great move? Maybe - if he ends up producing, the most it's going to cost them is a 5th round pick next year. By the draft value chart, next year's picks are worth one round less than this year's, so it's essentially like being a 6th or 7th round pick based on production.

Cost controlled guy who's had solid production for a late round pick in next year's draft? No brainer.
I agree
crick n NC : 3/29/2019 9:49 am : link
Good move initially. It'll be interesting to see the final results.
brief note on
Enzo : 3/29/2019 9:52 am : link
how this type of move fits into the Eagles' overall strategy on free agency and comp picks. Contrast this move with the Jonathan Stewart signing last year...

I disagree that the equivalent of a (2019) 6-7th round pick for one year of RB that's averaged 3.9 yards/carry the last 2 seasons is a good move. Low risk move? Sure, but I'd personally prefer to keep my 6th round pick and gamble on finding someone just as good that will at least be under your control for 4 years.

Is he really a better RB than Gallman? There's some value in knowing he can physically handle a full season's workload, but Gallman's a much better receiving back with arguably more upside running wise too (granted that upside is likely because we haven't seen what he can/can't do like Howard).

How is Howard better than Ajayi? Or even Crowell? Two guys that could've been signed without giving up compensation (i.e. draft picks).
Good trade for the eagles
Sonic Youth : 3/29/2019 10:03 am : link
Howard is a solid RB and just isn't a scheme fit in Nagy's offense. Bears should have gotten more than a 6th/5th for him.
