Assuming the reports are true that the Giants will sign him after he passes a physical, I have this question. Are the Giants not allowed to sign him now? Is there a rule that a player who hasn’t passed a physical can’t be signed?
As far as I know, he CAN be signed without passing the physical Â
But the Giants (or any other team) probably wouldn't offer the same level of guaranteed money unless/until he can pass it, so it's in his best interest to wait if he feels like he's close.
There are probably implications regarding being able to insure his contract against injury if he hasn't passed a physical, but those might exist regardless due to his injury history in the first place. Totally a guess on my part.
but I hope it's only for depth. He was on of the worst tackles in the league last year and I think he was the 48th best guard once we switched over, according to PFF...
Wheeler was about the 100th best right tackle so remmers is btr than wheeler for cheap and short its a very reasonable signing. If he hadn't had some injuries and had a btr year last year we wouldn't get him for a year or 2 on the cheap like we will. This is not a 10 million dollar a year deal. Probably nothing to lose so why any moron would be against the signing..especially after the draft where the compensatory picks don't matter is beyond me. We need some help at RT...hes help. won't prevent us from drafting a RT.
Right now he would be our best Right Tackle so it makes perfect sense, if the price is right and the guaranteed money is limited to this year that you sign him. I would also like them to take 2 4th rd offensive lineman and hope they hit on one. Remmers will either be a valuable backup or below average starter.

1 year deal for depth would never hurt though.
In jest there is truth
You left out Bass.

Pugh and Schwartz do they really need another lineman with injury questions

Bass never missed a game before he got here. There was nothing they couldve done much differently.
He was released by the Vikings on March 11th, he would not count against the compensatory pick formula when signed.
Exactly.
