More Quarterback Discussion (sorry)

BBV had this article with a lot of different ways of looking at Qbs, with some statistics I had not seen before. Using BBV's stats, Kyler Murray looks very strong, but the stats make Will Grier look pretty good as well. Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock are in that general mix. A point I would make is that one slight of Haskins, that he only has one year, could also be considered a positive. Except for Murray, each of the other quarterbacks improved after their first years. Maybe the same could be expected of Dwayne Haskins.

complete garbage

We don't have to take a QB especially with a superior class coming out next year. Even it means trading future first round picks to come up with a better player. We used extra picks for Eli and we won super bowls. Do the same thing next year and get a better prospect. It makes no sense that we have to take a QB this year.

When we acquired Eli, we were moving up from 4, not the middle of the first round. It could prove to be extraordinarily expensive to move up next year, and that doesn't even account for the possibility that the top of the draft might be populated by teams who actually want to stay put and take QBs themselves.

Waiting a year is very risky and could backfire significantly. We'll see how the Giants decide to handle it.
The problem with stats in college

Level of talent is not the same....ohio st. Will have 14 players drafted.....duke and missouri 2/3...

Haskin had ideals....with perfect pockets, protections, great wrs and tes....now, he excelled. How will he do in none ideal circumstances.

I know this possibility is likely 2 years out, barring a Sam Darnold like early entry, but it seems the Giants aren't in a hurry to replace Eli. I'm hearing 2 more years and I'm not convinced his best years are behind him. Could the Giants be waiting for a chance at what would be a sure franchise qb instead of facing the unknowns in this draft?
That was interesting

They did try to offset the supporting cast issue in two ways(not sure who actually read the article). The focused on stats from a clean pocket, which is actually one barometer used in evaluating quarterback play. The second way the tried to address supporting cast is by focusing on catchable passes instead of strictly completion percentage. I like those two aspects because it does help to alleviate both of those biases in the stats(better oline and better wrs). I had just watched a breakdown on Jarrett Stidham the other day and did not realize how badly his cast performed last year from protection to dropped passes, which really makes it hard to look just as your typical numbers because they can be misleading. Thanks for posting.

There is so much misinformation but there is a risk every year of whoever you fall in love with not working out. It sound like the Giants are willing to take a risk, just not get into a bidding war.
With this defense

How many games do you think were going to win. Even if we had a group of rookies on defense. They are still rookies and will need time to gel especially with the new CBA where practice time is limited.

Lawrence is ineligible to enter next year

Lawrence will be the 1 pick in 2021

As we see this year. A team finished with 0-3 wins is likley to go 1 even if you have QB

So what is your plan to get 0-3 wins 2 seasons from now? How exactly do you fo that?

It would take an early entry for him to enter in two years. If he plays out his eligibility, it's three years.
