About him signing a 41 million dollar deal.
Here is the quote.
"Lil bruh since the day u walked into that building yu gave me life, picked me up when I was down, humbled me when I was in the wrong, shown me nothin but love slime," Beckham said. "I flew across the country for u to be apart of somethin so amazing and special. U have changed my life in so many ways. I will miss being/ seeing u everyday. But let’s get to the real topic.... BAG ALERT boyyyyy u weathered the storm. Stood tall when u had too, head down n keeeppt fighting..... nowwwww looook at u boyyyyy , I’m so happy for u and ur family , and beyond proud of u! Best of luck for the future! U just get started Brother... of courseeee tho, LEMMME HOLSUMMM @sterl_shep3NO MATTER the colors, U will forever be my brother!"
I just thought that was a kind thing for Beckham to do.

I've met a couple of pretty engaging bipolars. One of whom had a terrific, forceful natural strength. Only an idiot would want to fight this guy, his raw strength and energy were palpable.
Bipolar is an interesting condition, both a curse and a gift.
He can’t genuinely be happy for Shepard? These guys spend an inordinate amount of time together, so maybe, just maybe, they’re actually, you know, friends too.
Sometimes you just need to take things at face value and move on. You don’t like him, so what, that’s fair, but guys within the Giants locker room will still be friends with him. And some won’t be. That’s life. No need to dive into a clinical diagnosis of the guy.

Have YOU ever met a bi-polar? You don't think parts of this quote above is, well, a little over-the-top?
"...since you walked into the building you gave me life..."
One could say "congrats, man, you earned it" or one could write what OBJ wrote. I'm not among the haters, in fact, but that doesn't work for your little agenda here right? Why don't you find me dissing OBJ on another thread? I wouldn't even call bi-polar an illness so much as a condition, which is what I wrote.
Get off my lawn, unless you actually have a better response than I "must be a hater", or I "don't understand what he wrote."

On getting paid, and now we speculate that he’s bi-polar? Why, because you don’t understand the message he wrote?

Yes, I have met people that are bi-polar and this doesn’t remind me of that. Because everyone is different.
I guess I just don’t understand the need to overanalyze everything this guy does, good or bad. And since day one he’s been over the top in things he does, both good and bad.
Hence stating to take it at face value and move on. You think it’s a nice gesture, that’s great. You think it’s drivel, that’s great. You don’t care, that’s great.
And I don’t have any agenda, nor do I care if you’re a hater or not. My only point was jumping to the conclusion that’s he’s bi-polar is unnecessary, regardless if you view it as an illness or a condition. It’s a pretty serious thing to speculate, that is all.
Bingo.
Never felt the Giants would turn the corner to becoming a championship team again til they were rid of him.
I don't think many people thought he was a bad teammate, especially to the other WRs on the team.
Lmao
And yet, a guy who, if he stays relatively healthy, will be a hall of famer and what has been acknowledged as a great and popular teammate — is hated by a fairly large percentage of the fan base (or at last a large percentage of the fan base represented by BBI).
I maintain that he was traded because of his critical comments about Saint Eli and the fact that the NYG want a milk toast culture over a winning one.
And even here, where he is graciously congratulating a former teammate there are claims of bi-polar disease or just out and out ridicule.
While I am and remain a huge Giant fan, I hope Odell has a huge season.
Something something best teammate ever!!!!
That is a dumpster fire. I'll take this all day long compared with that.
And nothing wrong with what Beckham wrote. It was a nice gesture. the arm chair shrinks and social media critics come across like assholes here. Not Beckham.
I'm not up on the speak either but I took it as hold some, like let's get our hands on the cash and go spend some.
I could be totally off base wit that and hopefully someone who knows exactly what it means will chime in.
Any time X player displays unconventional behavior its met with posts that delve into mental wellness. I have no doubt some, or many players fit into this category, but reading comments of it based off of congratulatory tweets and instagram posts is hilarious.
It isn't irresponsible because it is being asserted regarding the text, it is irresponsible because it is being asserted by a non-medical professional.
Let's be honest here. This isn't the first time that Beckham is over the top on something. That's he's gregarious on social media. Is it a personality disorder? Possibly. Is it foreign to a lot of us? Sure.
Beckham was acknowledged as a fine teammate while here. Had no off the field arrests.
But man is this guy a lightening rod here.
Why is it definite? You realize he has a brand right? I think he plays everyone like a fiddle and pumps his brand, and it works. Doesn't mean he's got any disorders.
And you can not like that, but it doesn't mean he has a personality disorder, or other issues.
Then why are most of it hearing it foe the first time?
Call me confused on this one - now we are chastising a player for being non-confrontational by calling him Saint Eli, and they chose a milk toast culture over a winning one by trading Beckham who in his career is 31W - 50L? And believe me I am not one of the trade Beckham guys, but some of the hyperbole is just pure moronic on these Beckham vs Eli threads.
GET OFF MY LAWN!
Its social media, that's how it works. I don't like it either but its 2019, we are pretty much beyond just keep it private territory.

There's probably a lot of slang you've never heard. Don't know what else to tell you. This was a very prevalent word in 80's and early 90's hip-hop. Nas said it all the time.
when you're in love you shout it from the mountain tops
I agree with the sentiment, I've always preferred the private call or message route. But young millionaire athletes don't have any monopoly on the desperate need for public attention when sending a nice message to someone.
How often do we see people post stupid shit on social media...like posting a picture with a caption along the lines of "OMG you're such an amazing person!!", for all to read.
Or a work email congratulating someone for something that CCs half the company, and several other people feel compelled to reply all to say "let me echo what my colleague said, you're so amazing blah blah blah"
OBJ's post here is a little cringeworthy (as many of the things he says/does are), but he really didn't do anything dozens of other people in my social and work circles do regularly.
These guys are entertainers. Part of that is engaging with fans. Plenty of fans like seeing this and feel a part of it. The NBA is where it is because of how well their players use their platform to interact with the younger generation. Its actually something the NFL isn't very good at as a whole.
who gives a shit what athletes say on social media?

Just like the videos of people doing "good" deeds. When you take the time to film doing something good is it really about the deed or about you doing the deed?
Bwahahahahaahaha
I feel for English teachers all around this country. It's got to be getting harder and harder.
Probably the best point in this thread.

Can't he just call him and keep it private?

I am an OBJ fan and don't get worked up over this type of thing but I have to admit, his "I flew across the country" line does come across as a me thing and more about him than the actual congrats and less about SS to me.
I'm probably reading too much into it as he obviously wanted to congratulate his friend, but to me it should have just been kept to that and it is a bit like people calling attention to their good deeds than the deed itself.
Super!

I don't disagree. He's got something going on.............

Agreed, and I've been married to someone with bipolar for the past 15 years.
Yes the over dramatization of everything is rampant. Life is a roller coaster ride.
Also even when prescribed medication, it's common someone with bipolar stops taking it. Part of the illness is a lack of awareness that you have it, so when the medication kicks in and the mood is stabilized, the person doesn't feel they need it anymore and "misses a dose".
When I went, English was a required course and you had to have a minimum number of credit hours.
Sorry, but writing like an illiterate does not make you cool. Well, I guess there are some people that think otherwise.
Some sad people on here.

I'm thinking millennials are lax on punctuation too!
Had to throw the dig there, boo.

Yesterday someone showed me a clip of a HS senior opening up a college reply letter (guessing his preferred school) and it was a rejection, and the kid was inconsolable, crying uncontrollably.
I asked how someone could be so mean as to put that clip up - and the person who sent it to me said that the kid himself posted it on social media.
I don't get it, but that's how it is.
This.
Winner winner, chicken dinner.
...Eric's internal response to 90% of what gets posted on this site these days.
That's bullshit, no we won't!
I'm almost 59 and it sounds like OBJ grew up on a different planet to me.
Well played sir

It amuses me that after reading so much bullshit on this board about Beckham's competitive fire, being a great teammate, being generational... His legacy as a Giant is a boat trip.
Definitely mixed feelings on losing him. Best receiver I ever saw, hands down.
But I won't miss the antics and attention whoring.

I’m generally not as down on him as you and some others, but it’s a statement of fact in the one shot he had in the playoffs with the Giants will be remembered for the boat trip and playing one of the worst games of his career

I have a feeling that by the time his career is over, only bitter Giant fans will still remember this

Only Giants fans remember it now. Fans of other teams don’t give a shit. Doesn’t change the fact he’s a great player who choked the one time he had a shot in the playoffs with us.

Just because it's "a brave new world" doesn't make it a better world.
This is based off of my complete ignorance of medical diagnoses.

No. That’s his legacy to you and other morons who loved to hate him.

Hahaha i spit up my drink. Cheers
Anyways, good for Odell and Shep. People get more on Odell for congratulating a friend/former teammate than they do certain players who had the FBI in the team facility last offseason.
Funny how that works.

Extremely funny.
Are you really discussing the hilarity of fans talking about players when you treat Eli like he's the fucking Anti-Christ? You even worked him into a slam here. Kudos.
Unintentional dumbassery is funny to me.
