Kentucky LB and Montclair native Josh Allen will have his Top 30 visit with the #NYGiants in East Rutherford today, per source.
Does anyone have a running list

If they do itís possible Allen or Q. Williams will fall. Just not sure I believe anyone will trade up for a player this year, weíll see.

He's gonna be sitting there for us at 6. The closer the draft gets the more I think so. Jets probably move out to a QB needy team that's worried the Raiders will take a QB. I've heard the Raiders love Ed Oliver and the Bucs love Devin White & Ed Oliver. Especially since it's looking like McCoy will be gone. Could definitely see the first 5 picks going like this

1 - Murray
2 - Bosa
3 - QB
4 - Quinnen/Oliver
5 - White/Oliver/Quinnen
This is who I damn sure

I get a sense from teams that the overall rankings of players hasnít changed much since the end of the college season. There are two guys at the top of the class: Ohio State DE Nick Bosa and Alabama DT Quinnen Williams. LSU LB Devin White is close to that caliber, tooówith him, itís a matter of positional value. And Kentucky LB Josh Allen isnít far off either, Iíve just had a hard time placing him in the draft order, maybe because he doesnít fit everyone the same way the other three guys do. As always, quarterbacks certainly could affect how these guys come off the board.

Quote:
1. Arizona: Not many people think theyíre going to pass on Kyler Murray. I donít either.

2. San Francisco: This one, as of now, seems almost as simple. If Murray goes to the Cardinals, the assumption is that Nick Bosa will be a Niner.

3. Jets: New York has only six picks and badly wants to deal out of the three spot to try to recoup the 2 theyíre missing as a result of the Sam Darnold trade. So they need the quarterback market to heat up.

4. Oakland: Maybe they take a quarterback. If they donít, the chalk says Alabamaís Quinnen Williams would be the fit here. But I wouldnít rule out LSU LB Devin White, whoís quietly put himself in the top five conversation.

5. Tampa Bay: Word is the Bucs love White, and they have a clear need with the loss of Kwon Alexander. Williams slipping here could make for an interesting decision, since that could free the Bucs to cut Gerald McCoy.

6. Giants: Among league people, you hear as much about their desire for a piece for their defensive front as you do about the quarterback need. So maybe this is Kentuckyís Josh Allen, instead of Haskins or Jones or Lock.
Good to see
mittenedman : 4/12/2019 8:48 am : link
people finally start understanding that either Quennin Williams or Josh Allen will likely be on the board with the 6th pick.

It could be both.

I've presented the ultimate BBI Head Explode moment - both Williams and Allen are on the board at 6.....and the Giants pick Daniel Jones.

Rong5611 : 4/12/2019 8:49 am : link
Wondering if DG would have a conversation with the Jets about the #3 pick??

Are Josh Allen or Q. Williams good enough to do this?

It would likely have to involve our #37 pick to do it based on value.

I'm thinking, probably not. Thoughts?

mittenedman : 4/12/2019 8:51 am : link
Rumor has it the Jets already have offers from the Dolphins and Bengals.

It's looking like it's going to cost A LOT for that 3rd pick.

Would you give up the #37 or next year's 1st? That's a tough sell for anything but a quarterback.

It wouldn't cost nearly as much for us as it would for those two teams. Moving from 3 to 11 or 13 is a huge drop and is why it would cost so much for those two teams.

Also I'm not sure I believe the Dolphins are looking to trade up. Everything they've done this offseason has pointed to a tank.
Donít let Allen leave the building!

One option is to Trade up to 4 and makes sure you get Q. Williams. 6 and 17 for 4 and 24 was an idea. DaveTe mentioned we approached Oak for a trade up already for Q.

I think Q is the best player in the draft and a better fit than Allen for us. We already have Carter and Golden as our rush OLBs and want to create havoc on the line to free up rushing lanes for blitzers from all levels.

...we have nothing like this guy on our current roster. Lo Carter is the closest thing, and as much as I admire our second year player out of Georgia, he's simply not in the class of Josh Allen.

If Allen is there at 6, the Giants cannot afford to pass on him. He is THAT good and we are THAT bad at rushing the passer!

No one said Zo Carter is Allen but between Zo and Golden , Giants have something there resembling what could be half decent pass rush from that position. Right now on the DL we have bupkus besides BJ Hill. Add that Bettchers scheme relies on the DL to open up holes and create havoc in the trenches, Q.Will very likely has the highest grade of all of them

If they are both somehow there at 6, I really think its gonna be Q.

Now maybe ...they go Josh with Dexter Lawrence at 17 but I still think they go Q and get another guy like Jaylon Ferguson, Burns , Zach Allen or Winovitch (sp?) in the next couple picks

Marcus Golden?

I don't believe in valuing a player based on his stats from 2-3 seasons ago. He's on a one-year prove-it contract and right now all he represents is a JAG.

We have a bottom tier NFL pass rush. It's quite ugly, and if the best we can say is that we have the combo of Lo Carter and Markus Golden, then NO ONE in the Giants front office should be sleeping well at night.

We've been a lousy franchise for two main reasons:

(1) Our O-line has been a turnstile to our QB;
(2) No one on our team can get to someone else's QB.
I think when you collect all the rumors
Giantz_comeback : 4/12/2019 10:55 am : link
And compile them the pattern that emerges at 6 is they want a DL disruptor first and foremost.

Then you hear NYG wants to trade up to 4 specifically for Q from DaveTe .

I think its Q then everyone else in terms of what they value right now. This is not to say Josh doesn't carry a high value but when you incorporate what they want to do on defense, Q helps complete that vision moreso than Josh does.
I would take Allen
Carson53 : 4/12/2019 11:27 am : link
if he is still there at #6, Giants NEED a pass rush.
I think he would be hard for them to pass up.

So who's trading up to #3 for a QB? Not us. Frankly I don't think anyone is. None of these guys warrants it but Murray and that won't affect the Top 5 as we all assume he's going anyway.

Every once in a while the expected QB 'run' doesn't happen. It usually coincides with a strong DL group as we have this time around.

It happened just two years ago when the Bears traded up for Trubisky and Mahomes was the second guy off the board at #10. I feel the same sort of momentum this year or lack of. The QB market is cold and likely to stay that way. WE would have heard a lot more scuttlebutt by now. If someone trades up to #3 with the Jets it will be for a pass rusher.

So the likely Top 6 prospects off the board will be:

Murray
Bosa
Allen
Qwill
White
Oliver

In that order imo.

I fear the Cedric Jones Effect.
Jon that we'll choke the pick by being unprepared?
Torrag : 4/12/2019 12:36 pm : link
Two clearcut differences between the situations:

*I don't believe DG will be caught with his pants down. He's all about doing the filmwork. We'll have a move in place for all scenarios.

*The available talent pool is much deeper than in '96. There are several options that will offer great prospects to us including poentially a QB if the Giants have a belief in one of these guys. I'd be excited by Sweat, Bush(who is my #1 LB in this class), Haskins. I'd even be ok with Jonah or Dillard if the Giants go that route. All these players should be good to great in the league unlike Cedric Jones.

Who are you afraid they'll take that would equate to that level of mistake?

The draft media has had this order for weeks. When was the last time they correctly predicted the first 5 picks? You're used to seeing that order from the media so you think that's how it's going to happen.

Mike Silver has said there is a real possibility that the Raiders could take a QB. Dave Te has said the same thing. So if teams like the Bengals/Broncos think the Raiders are going to take a QB they'll want to trade ahead of them.

The Bucs really like Ed Oliver. If they plan to let McCoy walk that could change their pick from Devin White to Ed Oliver.

If the Jets stay at 3 maybe they take an OT to protect their franchise QB?

We are wrong every year when it comes to picking players. Look at last year. A lot of the draft media was wrong by pick 1. If they did get that right they were completely screwed by pick 4.

I don't think DG will get caught with his pants down and blow it, they'll be better prepared and I do think their preparation and war room focus are really good. But, I do think the six prospects you listed as the first six picks are significantly better than the rest. Similar to '96 in that respect.

Jon are you getting a sense that the Giants like Oliver?

I think we have a sense on Q. Williams, Gary, and Ferguson (not at 6 though). All the 270+ lb guys or that have the frame to be higher than 270. But less on the 'smaller' mainly OLB types.

Oliver is interesting because he has the weight part but shortish arms and height plus maybe they are concerned about character. I like him but dont know if Giants do.

Gary for what they think they can coach him up to do rather than having at least some production to go on. He's the 'trap' guy.
YThere is a teir change after the Top 7 imo

I agree he'd be the scary choice. I thought JonC would point him out when asked. I'd stay away from him as well. The risk/reward analysis on him is just too wide a range from total bust to total stud. makes my head spin. Guys like him I expect keep NFL GM's up at night.

but suspect they would like him for sure. The issue for me is they have to run 4-man fronts to use him best, which they did a year ago, but it could've been due to personnel as some mentioned the other day. Oliver at 3-4 DE makes less sense to me especially given how most 3-4 teams tend to staff those spots.

A lot to like but he isn't perfect. His bend around the edge to finish isn't special but he finds other ways to get there as well. Very active feet and rare balance during contact to beat his man. IF Bosa is durable as a pro he'll be the better pure pass rusher imo.
