Gary and Sweat interesting discussion ( I don't like either)

Maineline : 4/13/2019 8:56 am
Would prefer many to these two even though they are mentioned a lot in mocks as Giants pick at 6.

They absolutely nail the conundrum that is Gary

With very strong analysis. How do you take that at 6? You just can't , you need to see way more than he's shown.
The whole video seemed to be about Gary

Not a hugh fan of PFF....they seem to be good to verify an opinion...but not sure They truly see the game.

My impression of Gary is someone who takes plays off.

My impression about Sweat is a beast....they teams ran the other way.
Why this draft is so intriguing
idiotsavant : 4/13/2019 9:19 am : link
Being that there are so many DL in the discussion within the top 10 or 15. If you include "edge".

That not only makes 6 interesting, but 17 and 37 may well be in that conversation as well.

You could argue 8 of the best 10 overall are front 7. I'm not saying that, but one could.

Obviously that won't be the draft order, and there is your opportunity.
What it comes down to for me at 6 overall
superspynyg : 4/13/2019 9:35 am : link
would you be happy with Gary as your best pass rusher?
For me...No. He is another Oliver Vernon. Gets close but rarely gets the sack.

Would you be happy with Sweat?
For me...Yes I think his speed and ability could make him a 10 sack a year guy.

And imagine you pass over a bunch of good ones and pick one of the few busts of the group.....
I love data based decisions
Andy in Halifax : 4/13/2019 10:16 am : link
but something seems off when they are using data that has undrafted guys near the top of a statistical catgeory and uses that stat to criticize a player.

Maybe the data needs more context or analysis if Ronheem Bingham is #2.
I posted this yesterday on a different thread.

Leery of Sweat in that he'll have trouble dealing with the strength and power of NFL OTs. Long strider on first step like JPP but not the strength. Able to loop around college level OTs but doesn't have the foot speed of Osi to turn and close at the NFL level.
It really doesn't matter whom it is we like or don't like, I would

imagine the Giants have their draft board done, or at the very least are close to it. They are going to draft the players that they assume will make this team better, the only thing we can do is hope that they draft good players.
Too many question marks with both players at 6 imo

Trade down!
keep in mind
bc4life : 4/13/2019 3:59 pm : link
most of don't know exactly how Bettcher will use anyone. I'd be okay with Gary at 6.
They have 12 picks
LakeGeorgeGiant : 4/13/2019 4:00 pm : link
what exactly is the point of a trade down? If anything trade up to secure the playera you want, that's the advantage of a surplus of selections.

As for Gary/Sweat, to my untrained eye Sweat looks like a force. Gary scares me at 6.

Foot speed is not an issue for Sweat. He is a more athletic version of Danielle Hunter who is an athletic freak himself. He just needs to improve his strength and technique like Hunter did with NFL coaching. Hunter has 40 sacks in 4 years. Sweat has a higher ceiling.

Good points. Hunter did squat as far as sacks in college.
