Round 2 QB options. Maybe this was asked and I can delete.

Ivan15 : 4/13/2019 9:32 am
If you return to QB rankings at the end of the 2018 season, and Murray, Haskins and Lock are gone before the bottom of Round 1, what do you do if you are DG with pick 37?

Trade back into Round 1 for Jones, stay put for Jones or Grier or trade for Rosen, pass but trade up in Round 3 for Finley, or punt until next year?

Since we are talking Round 2 options, I would not punt.
Sounds like Jones will be long gone before 37.

There people a lot more qualified than me to make that decision
Blue21 : 4/13/2019 9:45 am : link
but the few WV games I watched Grier looked like a potential great QB. I say potential because one never knows. But, I has some Mayfield in him without the immaturity. He's confident, mobile and appears to me a strong enough arm to make all the throws. Sure there others with stronger arms but he just seems to have the "it" factor. I know in one post Dave Te says he loves him but was disappointed he passed on the teams bowl game. That aside he stands as my day two favorite.
Jones is a first round pick

So they either take him at 17 or trade back in.
I think the best option with the 37th pick

Is a trade for Rosen. This draft is too weak at the QB position to expect to find the next franchise guy with the 37th pick

I agree - I think that Grier is a 3rd Rd Gem..

This or Grier.
If the Giants like Jones enough
Jay on the Island : 4/13/2019 11:07 am : link
Then they should take him at 17. I would prefer Lock but I won't complain if they draft Jones. It would be awesome if Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen, or Bosa fall to 6 then the Giants grab Daniel Jones at 17. At 37 grab Parris Campbell, Hakeem Butler, or AJ Brown. I am high on all three WR's and they would be a huge addition to the offense.

I don't like it when guys bail on bowl games, especially a QB who is supposed to lead the team. Since Grier also bailed from Florida, he was never high on my list. So much for maturity too! He may be a second round talent, but that attitude should drop him a round, from my perspective.
Take Haskins or Grier at 17

Either can be the Giants Qb of the future. Waiting beyond 17 would be unwise. If neither is available, wait until a future year.

If the Giants like Jones or Lock enough to take either 17, they are going to take that QB at 6. They aren't going to try to get cute and hope their future franchise QB falls to 17.
would prefer
Chip : 4/13/2019 12:12 pm : link
either defense ol or WR
I see little or no difference between Jones and Finley...
Torrag : 4/13/2019 12:14 pm : link
...so take him in the 3rd with the thought he upgrades our backup situation and has a chance to develop into a winning player for us.

Take RT at #37 to fortify our run game and protections.
The first 3 picks for the Giants should be any combination of olinemen
SterlingArcher : 4/13/2019 1:14 pm : link
and defensive players. This is their opportunity to get better on both sides of the ball. Drafting a qb, or trading for one, does not make that happen
No to a QB
fkap : 4/13/2019 2:37 pm : link
late first round or below. It's taking a flier. Pick is too high to take a flier. The odds aren't good he'll be a quality starter. odds are much better that any other position will be a contributor.
What about Stidham?
FrankieR : 4/13/2019 2:55 pm : link
He jad showed some promise despite having a bad supporting cast. Could be had with a 4th.
Depends on what I did with pick 17
Bill L : 4/13/2019 3:02 pm : link
If I took a OL, I’m taking a DLine guy with 37 to go with the one I got at #6. If I went Defense at 17, I’m taking either OLine or CB at 37.
Not interested in a QB in round 2 from this year’s class unless
Rick in Dallas : 4/13/2019 3:16 pm : link
They trade it for Rosen
Which would be a worse option imo
Bill L : 4/13/2019 3:32 pm : link
Rather pick Grier if forced to get a QB this year before round 3. At least Grier won’t walk away.

I see Rosen not walking away from football. I see a QB with fire in the belly after being drafted as the fourth QB in last year’s first round. He got beat up last year and kept competing. Just my opinion.
I like
Thinblueline : 4/13/2019 8:54 pm : link
Grier but I'd put money that's who the Patriots draft in the first round 32...

If by some bad luck we do end up with him, the. I pray you are right. But I’m pretty positive that his next concussion is his last.
It would not surprise
Dirt1 : 4/14/2019 3:01 pm : link
if we pass on a QB early this year that we take a flyer on Minshew as a late round flyer. Petit seemed enamored with him at the senior bowl practices. Let him compete with Lauletta.
