I really like all of the reports on Williams and what he could bring to our defense. I also think Williams has a much higher grade than Sweat, Oliver, Gary or Burns.
Let's say hypothetically that the cardinals take Murray at 1. The 49ers take Bosa at 2. The jets tale Allen at 3.
The raiders are at 4. We could potentially trade our 6 for their 4 to move up plus swap our 17th overall pick for their 24th overall pick and either throw in next year's 3rd round pick or a 4th round pick this year.
If we can get williams and maybe get Dalton Risner at 24 that would be 2 legitimate starters plus our 2nd round pick
BJ Hill, Tomlinson and Williams would be a fast start to a solid defensive line and the cost might not be too bad.
I think they go with the blood line, and will be wary of what happened with Thomas, also giving him a chance.

Hate to break it to you buy its highly improbable that they draft 12 players.
I dont expect the trade ups will happen early though. Anywhere in rounds 3-5 trade ups are a strong possibility imo.
This guy is numero uno on our board and represents highest value for what he would mean for what Bettcher is trying to do with the defense.
The drop off to the next guy that could play multiple spots on the 3-4 DL is HUGE.
He wants guys that will command double teams , create rush lines for other blitzers and ideally especially picking at 6 , that guy should be able to generate great pass rush on his own.
Williams is that guy. Gary is not . He is a trap because he has all the physical measurables you want but you just dont see the pass rush ability there. When he wins he has won with HWS , there is little nuance and technique. He as another poster put it is the Erik Flowers of DEs. The Giants though they could coach him up. They were wrong.
You need to see more flashes on tape showing you he has the potential to grow exponentially as a pass rusher. You just didnt see it. His isolated pass rush grades when he rushed from end vs interior were horrible. Stay away.
Stone yes and no. The other teams at the top seem to have a bigger need for an Edge rusher. Now if they have him as glaring BPA that's a different story, but if its close those teams could choose Bosa or Allen. Plus Jets have strong offers from 2 teams to trade down and apparently they want picks.
