Bobby Evans at 95 or 108?

adamg : 4/14/2019 5:29 pm
Thoughts on this guy? Could he be the mid round RT steal from the DG playbook?
Funny

Zierlein projects him to Round 4, with a player comp of Daryl Williams.

Cue The Twilight Zone Theme.
He's

one of my favorite mid round players. i would absolutely consider him at #95.
I would prefer Tytus Howard at 95

He has a much higher upside and he can potentially be the long term answer at either LT or RT. Evans is strictly a RT.
With that said

Evans is more NFL ready. How about taking Howard at 95 and Evans at 108?

I like that as a long term addressing of the tackle position. One guy could play RT, one could start the process of moving on from Solder's deal. I like Solder, but if he can be replaced for a cheaper contract...

doesn't seem as if Howard will be available at #95. Everything I've read is that he'll be taken in the second round.
If we end up with 2 tackles in this draft.

It might make Solders contract dispensable if both can play. Saves a lot of cap dollars next year.

The cut of your jib......I likes it.

Is not falling to 95. Put that to bed. He will likely
Go late 2nd or very early 3rd

Remmers for a 2 year deal and drafting a guy in the midnrounds to develop would be ideal
Everyone talks about drafting a RT with real potential to switch to LT

I can’t think of many successes.

I guess Solder did it after 1 year at RT, but not many others. Good RTs turn into vert mediocre LTs.

I think the idea is less "converting" a good RT into a LT than giving a natural left tackle a year or so to learn the pro game and adjust to its speed, without the added pressure of protecting the blind side. So the guys who make the transition successfully tend to have played the left side in college, before being drafted by teams that had the option/luxury/need to start them out on the right.
I'd be just giddy if we drafted an OL that could be a servicable

future LT with some work. I don't think there are any clear-cut LT's worth a Top 10 pick.

Always a guy who turns out better than projected and my prayer is we draft that guy...a FEW TIMES!
Evans is very similar to Darryl Williams

He should be able to step in immediately and be a strong run and pass-blocking RT
