QB and ER

With 2 picks in round 1 NYG can take care of 2 critical needs: QB and Pass Rusher.

Pick number 6 maybe the best place to select the QB. Not sure I think Haskins is as elite as many think. I am a believer that Drew Lock has the physical tools and extensive playing resume to be worthy of a high draft pick. Arm strength, quick release and athletic ability plus level of competition over a 4 year period along with having to learn 3 different offenses, Lock is a guy I can buy into as the future QB if NYG.

As for pick number 17, a Pass Rusher, depending on the position, may have to be acquired in a slight move up. Brian Burns, Christian Wilkins could be available there. The guy I think could be there and I would be really happy with is Clelin Ferrell. I think he can play in both a 2 and 3 point stance, as he has done at Clemson. Similar to Lock, he had a good amount of success over a 3 year timeframe.

I would be happy with Lock at 6 and Ferrell at 17. It adds 2 excellent college players with multiple years of experience and success against top competition. I think both players represent high character competitors who are leaders.
I was thinking something similar

If they have a conviction for a particular QB. I do think that it may be risky for the Giants to wait until #17 and have lost out on an edge rusher, which they badly need. If they get that combination, I would be happy though.
If they see Haskins or Lock as a franchise QB then I agree.

Then they'll go Defense at 17
I personally would much rather have something like

Sweat at 6 (assuming none of the top 3 defensive guys drop) either Bush or Lwarence at 17, and Rosen at 37.

respect your opinion, but I don't want Lock at #6. I'm OK with Ferrell at #17, but hope for Burns.
I’d be happy

Robbie,

I too like Rosen at 37 and I would be good with Sweat @6 and Bush @17.

I agree but unless the trade for Rosen I don’t see them passing on an opportunity to get a QB being positioned this high in the draft. So just being fiscally responsible, selecting a QB at 6 is gonna cost less than trading up from 17 to 9 or any other scenario. Just my opinion.
