Daniel Jeremiah: Murray not a sure thing to Cardinals

BeckShepEli : 4/15/2019 10:34 am
April 1st: rumblings around the league 90% chance he was going to cardinals

April 15: rumblings around the league 60% chance

Could be why heís taking more visits. Still think heís 1st QB taken
He is the guy

That I would be most excited about drafting, if that were to happen by some miracle.

He and Devin Bush are my two favorite players.

But, my usual disclaimer I'm not dumb enough (or arrogant enough) to get mad at who we DO draft... lol
If he somehow fell to #6
Metnut : 4/15/2019 10:38 am : link
it would be amazing. Can't see it happening though.
I think Rosen can play in Kliff's
BigBlueDownTheShore : 4/15/2019 10:38 am : link
system, but it will take him some time to understand the nuances of it.

If they were to draft Murray, there is no doubt in my mind that he would be pretty successful right off the bat simply because it's the same offensive system he is coming from at Oklahoma. It would just be learning the subtle nuances of the system instead of the entire system.

Must be draft season.
Sounds

like they are trying to drive up the price for Rosen. We can expect more of this now that NCAA basketball and the Masters are done. Thank goodness this will all be over in less than two weeks.

Agree - The Cards are becoming fairly transparent at this point. Worth a go I guess.

And what about when no one flinches and they are on the clock..

They are either taking Murray and then fielding offers for Rosen or they are keeping Rosen and fielding offers for the first pick/for Kyler.

My gut says they take Kyler and get a solid 2nd round slot for Rosen. Maybe even our 2nd rounder at 37.
But boy would I love rooting for Kyler and Saquon

For the next decade.
I don't see how this could be about Rosen.
Mr. Bungle : 4/15/2019 11:08 am : link
If they draft Murray, they have to trade Rosen.

If they don't draft Murray, they have to keep Rosen.

How does leaking that they might not draft Murray result in better offers for Rosen? That would mean they're keeping him.

Iíve always believed Rosenís trade value will come down to the competition for his services, not his perceived value. Closer to the draft you get, more teams start bidding on him.

Even after they select Murray, while the Cardinals may ďhave toĒ unload Rosen, if multiple teams are in the bidding, it will increase Rosenís value.

For AZ, this is a simple analysis: do they think they are better off with Bosa/Quinnen + Rosen OR Murray + pick they recoup. I know itís not groundbreaking, but thatís what it is. If you believe that Murray is a generational, transformative QB, itís an easy choice.

Genie was out of the bottle long ago. I don't see NYG trading that pick for Rosen.
Someone has to explain to me
WillieYoung : 4/15/2019 11:36 am : link
how leaking you are not taking Murray increases Rosen's trade value. Don't quit your day jobs, there may not be a future for you as an NFL executive. Isn't it infinitely more likely they have now explored the market for Rosen, found it to be weak and don't want to give up on a potentially valuable asset for a quarterback who, if he fails, everyone will say I told you so, he's too short. It is a job killer for both GM and Coach if Murray fails.

Agreed. I'd like them to, but I don't see it happening. Someone will outbid the Giants. I'd rather trade #37 for Rosen then take any QB in the first round, or gamble that we can get a QB next year, especially since that will likely cost a ton of draft capital. Rosen is a low cost investment in terms of draft capital and salary. He's also more likely to be able to contribute this year if Eli gets hurt.

This is closer to reality than some of the cloak and dagger shit being discussed around here. I think thereís some truth in both outlooks but this extreme talk is a little much in my view.

Secrecy and mid direction only goes so far guys. Eventually you have to show your cards.

If everyone in the league knows you have to trade him because you are taking Kyler Murray then his value goes down because you have excess supply. If you spread rumors that you aren't taking Murray then you don't have excess supply so if someone wanted Rosen it will cost more. Supply and Demand. You don't have to be an NFL executive to understand that.

very weary of reports involving the top of the draft from people who have skin in the game in regards to ratings; Jeremiah is tied to the draft broadcast as well as Mike G; as much as we all love him, and it behooves NFL network and ESPN insiders to try and drum up any mystery at the front end of the draft for ratings purposes.
ohhh daniel jeremiah says murray is only 60%
bluetothegrave : 4/15/2019 3:30 pm : link
Holy fuck. I have to stop what i'm doing and...do absolutely nothing..lol. Hilarious. Its all good, we are all just bidding time and getting excited about the draft...especially this draft.

Daniel Jeremiah knows less than some of the asshats here...who know nothing. 54 people have an opinion saying they are an insider....one of them is right...he must be the original asshat and insider! lol. Its like the tout services that are operated by the same company but tout themselves as 2 companies. One of them gives you the favorite the other the underdog. The one who wins is a "genius" and you should sign up for their other slew of winners.

Any information anyone has was given purposely and is for misdirection. I love looking at Sy's preview and watching highlights of potential prospects. Its a very exciting time of the year but the idea that Murray has slipped from 90 % to 60% is hilarious. I think Jeremiah got it wrong..im pretty sure its 64.7%

I don't thinking leaking you may not pick Murray, and hence stay with Rosen, hurts his trade value. So why not do it, it can only help his trade value. If some team really wants Rosen and right now is sitting with an offer of a 2nd pick, then maybe that team will get nervous thinking Rosen will be taken off the trading block. This may get them to up the offer

There's absolutely no reason to believe that the Cardinals will not draft Murray AND will trade Rosen.

They either do both (draft Murray and trade Rosen) or do neither (do not draft Murray, and do not trade Rosen).
Doesn't he work directly for the NFL?

I don't know if it's true. I think Kliff Kingsbury is the only one who thinks Murray is that kind of QB.

If the Cards pass on Murray, I think it's a decent bet he's there at #6. And the Giants will say "no thanks".
not going to happen
msh : 4/17/2019 10:48 am : link
this is a smoke screen to try and push up rosens value in a trade at the prospect he MIGHT NOT be available as they didnt take murray so no rosen on the trade block they expected to get a late first for him and now face the prospect of a second round pick at best

if they dont take murray now they probably permanantly damaged the teams relationship with rosen going forward so from that point alone they probably already painted themselves into a corner on moving on from rosen now to the point you have to do it now and everybody understands kingsburys connection to murray and why he wants it so the GM is mostly given a free pass on this as a result

they moved up to get him and want to get as much as they can for him which is understandable but with that rough rookie season and rosens outbursts shortly after the draft saying teams made a huge mistake and knowing he is burned in arizona i dont think he is worth more than that giants 2nd at the very most and they are trying to engineer higher interest fair play to them for trying

if murray is on the board at 4
msh : 4/17/2019 10:57 am : link
then chucky will take him the way he gushed about murray i would say he sprints to take him at 4 so he wouldnt make it to 6 even if arizona dont take him

and you have to figure another team (dolphins or bucs maybe trade up if he is there?) in any regard the giants would have to trade up if they wanted him which im not sure he fits DG's mould he like bigger and defined tangibles than murray most likely
