The Ole Miss wideout no one talks about - Damarkus Lodge

TheGhostofBlueGuy : 4/15/2019 12:15 pm
Lodge is a solid, day two candidate for the G-Men to jump back into the second round to get.

Our wide receiver depth is questionable and Lodge would easily be the third best wide receiver on this team. In this new world of the RPO offense, Lodge's skillset would be a perfect plug and play. 6 ft 2 and 205 lbs. Had some concentration drops his junior year but really picked it up his senior year even though he was pigeon holed as he outside receiver behind AJ Brown and DK Metcalf.

Tough, over the middle receiver with excellent body control and balance. Looks like a young Amani Toomer on the sidelines. He will reach his ceiling faster than Brown and certainly faster than Metcalf.

Metcalf for me is a bust waiting to happen. Terrible hands and runs only two routes. Brown is a nice receiver but will go too high for my taste. Lodge it's the perfect complement to Tate and Shepherd. Package some of those late rounders to get back up into the second to get Lodge.

I see Tate and Shepard as limited slot guys who will not bring any fear to 90% of NFL secondaries. Do we really need another guy who does the same thing, especially since we just signed both of these guys to semi long contracts?

And who is New England's outside threat?
I like Lodge

Not in the 2nd round though. Is he really climbing boards that high?

AJ Brown ran in the slot most of the time. Lodge played on the outside.

Best route runner in the draft. Sound familiar?

Did you get whispers of this possibly being a pick Jon?
I’m in the Deebo Samuel

Camp. The guy gets up to top speed very quickly, comes out of his breaks hard, and catches with his hands. He’s a dynamite returner as well. Don’t know his character, but the tape is fun to watch.

I like him too, Rain. But Deebo will probably go in the top half of the second round. I see Lodge going in the mid-to-late second-round.
I see Lodge later

I brought up Deebo, because he fits with our slot. Lodge, to me, is 4th round or later. I’d want more impact than that late in rd 2.

Jon is right. Giants love nuanced route runners or ones that show great potential there. AJ Brown is probably the top guy on their list (or close to it).
