But I do not understand this move by Philly. He is not a good head coach. He won when he had talent around him. It is not like he has taken teams that were not expected to do well and overachieved.

We can only hope he takes Lindy Ruff from our staff

Philly is going to HATE Vinyo. Talk about not having the right personality for a place.
I'm really glad the Rangers got out of this retread NHL coaching carousel. There are like 15 coaches that just go from team to team to team and the same thing happens at nearly every stop.
Quinn may or may not be a good long-term guy for us, but I thought he handled his first year pretty well given the dearth of talent and I look forward to seeing him grow into the job and then hopefully be ready to coach a winner in a few years.
I also think he's a decent hire to manage their transition.
He's not the guy that's going to get them to win a cup IMO, but he's a guy that can teach the young guys (Patrick, Lindblom, Konecny, etc.) how to play responsible defense.
As long as you don't expect to win, he's fine IMO.
then in a couple years he'll be replaced by Mike Sullivan or someone like that.
I like quite a few prospects in their system (Farabee, Frost, Strome, etc.), and they have a stud 20 year old goalie.
Wouldn't have been my choice, but I sort of see the logic in it.
but the young guys will learn defense and a defense first system which may help them in the long run.
It will stifle some, particularly the most skilled offensively, but I don't see those players on the Flyers.
And Carter Hart may not be in his prime, but he's good enough at a young age many coaches would be interested in the job simply based on having a solid, reliable goalie for the next 10+ years.
RE: BTW, Carpinello says the Rangers have agreed to deals
with Shesty and Kravtsov. Just waiting to announce them after their KHL deals expire on April 30.
It will be interesting to see how high the bar is for Kravtsov: looks really good at KHL level--how fast will he adjust? Shesty is a pure talent, lightning quick: how does the team address the crowd at the position? Trade, on draft day? I know what I would do, but what I would do ain't possible given the constraints.
arc, adding some talent will make the Quinn watch that much more interesting and hopefully rewarding, KK or Hughes @2, who will it be?

LOL...you lost me at "As long as you don't expect to win, he's fine"..........
Aren't the Flyers looking at themselves as a team that has young talent, and is ready to step up?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's fantastic. Too bad we have Henrik locked up next year. It'd be nice to go into the season with Georgiev and Shesty as the Goalies.

He hung two all time legend goalies out to dry with his fast paced system.
Flyers are going nowhere. Good.
