Velocity doesn't give the advantage it once did. Location and pitch mix are now more important--look at Lugo tonight, control, good breaking pitches, he really should be in the rotation.

Hence why a guy like Dallas Keuchel May be good this year. Or Brett Sabrahagen comes out of retirement. He had some mad first pitch strike skills

Yeah I think a giveaway too is how hard the ball has been bouncing off the turf. Twice it just completely bounced over the 1B's head. That never happens and it happened to us twice in a week. Those balls are wound tight as hell.

These guys can’t throw strikes, constantly walking guys and behind in the count. Then you have to players pitches to hit. They know it’s coming and they will get their hits. These balls aren’t being crushed all over the place. It’s piss poor execution and pitchers not performing. Simple as that.

Just an observation. Works both ways. Mets are scoring runs at a historic rate to start the year. The ball does seem to be flying around a lot. OBVIOUSLY, the Mets have to pitch better.

So I can't make an observation that the ball seems to be flying around more this year? Just about every ace in baseball has been hit hard. Our entire division's bullpens have been shredded. And yes offensively, we are on a record pace. Did I say this would the best offense of all time? Because thats what we are on pace to be.

Callaway is not an intelligent person. Not having Diaz in there to pitch to Segura with the bases loaded and allowing Gsellman to walk a run in is inexcusable. Callaway is costing us games. How the heck do you not go to your closer there. He should've been warming as soon as Familia came in because there was an almost 100% chance Familia was going into gutless choke mode. Which he did

Im not saying it's just because of juiced balls. Clearly, the pitchers are still struggling and clearly offensive players are still doing well.

Just think it might be contributing to some of this.
