There is a free draft guide now available from Dane Brugler that could pass for a PhD thesis on the 2019 NFL draft. 223 pages that cover just about everything about every draft eligible player.
Great hockey coverage especially for upcoming draft and existing prospects. Top coverage for all major sports with great features. Look around for the new subscriber discount. Regular annual is $59 but I think introductory is around $40 assuming they still have that promotion.
fwiw, I'd argue yes, for sure. Not exorbitant by any stretch, and when you're in the mood with your morning coffee for something with a bit more substance than the daily papers, and good coverage of niches that may not be covered at all, definitely worth it.
You can select as few or as many topics, leagues, teams, subjects about which to receive articles.
And are now going to regional coverage of teams even though they promised beat writers for each club. Might be a canary in the mine for when they do it for the NHL. You wonder how their business model is holding up cause they once had a ton of writers working for them and were getting cash infusions to pay everyone.
RE: The Athletic let go off a lot of their MLS beat writers Â

The still have beat writers for the Giants, the MLB & NBA teams that I follow. They have good fantasy writers for baseball and football. Is it more than just MLS that suffered a cutback? I have not noticed it in the areas I read.

I follow Sara Civian who is the beat writer for the Canes on Twitter and she is great. Now I get to finally read her articles on The Athletic.

I don't claim to know anything, but it may be that this was a move borne of feedback from subscribers. That is to say if less than xx% of subscribers specified MLS coverage, to management that warranted reduction in resources.
It's a different demographic. Hockey fans are generally in cities with more income and they are rabid with lots of disposable income. What is MLS major demographic? A lot of immmigrants no? Can't imagine they have the same disposable income.
Read up on it this morning for hours. Also, I have been looking for reasons to save money and cancel my Athletic subscription, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Worth every penny.
I can’t see how it’s viable long term unless their reported traffic is way off. They have tons of writers making I assume pretty good money, extensive travel budgets, etc. But they don’t seem to have a lot of subscribers.
Not sure this kind of thing can work at the rate they have scaled up once they blow through the money they’ve raised.
The baseball coverage was great, but I'm not a big fan of Duggan and their college basketball coverage sucks balls. No way I'm re-upping at full price for a service I can take or leave.
You can get a free trial subscription. The Athletic is great and well worth it to me.

That's been my experience. Across the board the writing is excellent.
If you are a Rangers fan -- nothing better IMO.
Plus in the comments and talk-back sessions you get direct contact with the writers.
