What are chances of a trade up?

bigfrank612 : 4/17/2019 9:47 am
But I’m talking in a trade up from #6 for a pass rusher they want, not for a QB. Whether it be Bosa, Allen, or Q, do we feel this is even a remote possibility? I feel like I’d prefer them do this and lock down one of the 3 best players in this draft. Obviously it depends on cost but, interested in your guys thoughts.
Hopefully

JonC or JT can weigh in on it...
Nope

Much better chance the Giants trade up from #17.
I'd

be really surprised if that happens. Maybe a small trade up to #5 if Q. Williams is available, but even that seems unlikely. Gentleman worked hard to get extra day two picks. I don't see him trading them away to move up for any defensive player, especially when he's guaranteed to get a good one at #6. I do think we'll trade some of our day three picks to move up back into round three, or just to move up somewhere in rounds four through seven.
I would only go to #4

And I wouldn’t include #17 which might make it hard to get it done.
I would say a trade up from 6
SirYesSir : 4/17/2019 9:54 am : link
is very unlikely, because if they want to take a qb they will probably need to trade up from 17, and they need to save their capital for that deal. I think a trade down from six is more likely than a trade up, but most likely they pick at 6
The cost to move up from 6 may be too great
Beer Man : 4/17/2019 9:58 am : link
and I'm not sure there is anyone worth moving up for. IMO, there is bigger possibility of moving up from 17 or 37.
I

think a trade up from #17 is only possible if Lock or Jones fall far enough that the cost to do so is small. And that doesn't seem likely, especially if the recent rumors about teams liking Jones more than the pundits are true. I don't see the Giants giving up #37 to move up for either. I also don't see the Giants moving up for Haskins, although they could take him at #17. They could also probably just trade #37 for Rosen.
They may

Trade up from 17 and 37, plus I know they need to trade up from 95 and 108. What I see is the Giants trying to get into as many top 75 picks as possible, most people seem to think picks #15 - #70 are pretty close in talent. So you want to trade up to either or both get an extra elite talent in this draft or into that 15 - 75 range. I can see using those top 2 fourth round picks and bottom third round picks to maneuver.

I agree and would almost be surprised if this doesn't happen.
Someone will drop and the Giants are in perfect position and have the resources to trade up.
Chances are much better

That we trade up in Round 3, where we sit at the back of the pack with 60 picks having been selected since our second rounder.

I’m guessing we surrender a fifth and our third to climb up about 15 spots in round three to get a center.
If Murray is there I think the chances are high.

The cost is too high
blueblood : 4/17/2019 10:46 am : link
.. it will cost several high picks this year and NEXT year to move up...You cant do that when your defense needs an overhaul.. you need those 2nd and third round picks..

Murray isn't even the best prospect at his position let alone the draft, IMO. Don't see that happening.

Hope so! We need all picks +. This team needs as much talent as possible, and its a rich draft on D.
I agree with the notion that trade down is more likely
Leg of Theismann : 4/17/2019 11:18 am : link
The "tier 1" blue-chippers will likely be gone by our pick and there isn't much of a difference between picking #6 and picking say #10, #11, or #13 in this particular draft. I named those spots because that is the Broncos, Bengals, and Dolphins picks (all may like/want a QB). The cost to trade up into the top 8 is very costly, you can throw the value charts out the window. Bucs got 2 second-round picks from Bills last year from moving from #7 to #12. Colts got 3 second-rounders from the Jets to move back from #3 to #6. I would not sneeze at a deal where we could get the same value as the Bucs.
I would not be surprised if Giants trade up from 17 to 8
AdamBrag : 4/17/2019 11:24 am : link
I think it'd cost 17, 37 and maybe a 4th rounder.
I don't want them too.
rasbutant : 4/17/2019 11:38 am : link
It would cost the top picks and there will be lots of good players available.

I would trade up in the 3rd round though.

It should cost their 3rd (#95) and a 4th (#132) and a 5th (#142 or #143) just to get midway into the 3rd.
