Shawshank is my favorite of the 4. I love when you get the film snobs who say "Shawshank is mass produced drivel" or it's cheesy, or some bullshit. It's one of the best movies of that era.
"I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him."

At the time, you didn't hear many people say anything bad about it. Not sure the reason, maybe because so many people loved it, it gets a backlash the way some things do. Maybe it didn't hold up well, whatever. I never loved it, but I didn't hate it either and a lot of the current hate wasn't hate in 1995 (from what I recall).
Best thing about it was the soundtrack, at the time it exposed a new generation to a lot of music that was forgotten (or never known to them)
actually really like Forrest Gump but looking back the critique regarding how truly awful Jenny was... she made a mentally handicapped man's life a living hell!
Yeah agree with those that say Forest Gump hasn't aged well at all Â

I always viewed that element as part of what made it a great/complex story. I don't think Jenny was portrayed in a way that was meant hold out her character as an exemplary figure or a hero. i.e. character complexity, not all binary good/bad, balance between not denying a mentally-challenged person the experience of the human connection on the basis of their condition vs being 'careful'/ethical with that person in light of such condition.
Another: I also like movie that span time and enjoyed Legends of the Fall.
Loved Legends of the Fall, though I was sort of ashamed to admit it since it seemed like a chick flick (lol, j/k - good movie in a tough year for awards)
RE: RE: The Professional was probaby and underrated movie that year Â

This.
Great movie, but I think Seven would haven been the next year, right?
It came out in September 1995, and the 1995 Oscars were in March of 1995.

Quiz Show was such a solid movie. Turturro and Fiennes were fantastic.
What are you waiting for?

Pulp Fiction is definitely worth seeing.

No it wasn't. It was just nostalgia for Baby Boomers. The only good thing about Forrest Gump now is making fun of how awful it is.
Here are two other movies that are still worth seeing from that year:
The Professional
Hudsucker Proxy
wrong year.
Loved Legends of the Fall, though I was sort of ashamed to admit it since it seemed like a chick flick (lol, j/k - good movie in a tough year for awards)

Think that's why there's some confusion. The awards ceremony was in early spring 1995 but it was for 1994.
