nyjuggernaut2 : 4/17/2019 3:36 pm
Five goals in the first 21 minutes!! Aggregate is currently level at 3-3 but Spurs hold the tiebreaker due to away goals. COYS!
This game is awesome

That game just took years off my life, but it was freaking worth it COYS!!!
Why won't they show that offsides call?
bw in dc : 4/17/2019 5:00 pm : link
That was really close.
Thank god for VAR.

Wish they had had it in the FA Cup.

Spurs v. Ajax in the semis, right?

Hope some of you guys put money on that happening.
Of course I had a meeting during the match of the year
Go Terps : 4/17/2019 5:44 pm : link
Work sucks sometimes.

Glad to see Llorente figuring in... I've always had a soft spot for that guy. I feel like Spain should use him as a target center forward given they can create crossing opportunities at will with Jordi Alba.

I am happy with the result, and there is no one who deserves a nice moment more than Llorente, but the ball did go in off his hip (and maybe the City defender's hand).

Or off Llorente's arm.

Or off Llorente's arm.

I don't think there is enough evidence to say that it did, but it is certainly possible
Sounds like game of the year

Will have to try to catch a replay. Thrilled City are out. While this obviously means they can focus on the league I hope their heads drop just enough to slip up in the league.
I agree...
bw in dc : 4/17/2019 6:18 pm : link
although that one replay showed Llorente's right bicep sort of twitching like there was ball contact...
I think Man City won the EPL today
Go Terps : 4/17/2019 6:20 pm : link
You obviously want both, but if you had to pick between one or the other, the domestic league is the better, more difficult competition to win. Liverpool will be stretched these next few weeks.
City definitely wanted the CL more
Oscar : 4/17/2019 6:24 pm : link
It is their main objective and their season will be viewed as a failure without it.

Funny that Liverpool are exactly opposite, they want the league. Somehow just winning the CL would be a disappointment if they can even pull that off.

Could finish with City winning the league, Liverpool winning the CL and neither really happy.

Spurs will be happy and enjoy this one today, but Saturday's game is just as important for both sides (Top 4 for Spurs and Title for City) and City is going to be looking to murder them after todays result.
Spurs

They will be stretched thin now also. Falling out of Prem top 4 and not winning Champs would be amazing.
I checked ESPN on my phone on my ride home

Right.
Regarding Barcelona
Go Terps : 4/17/2019 7:31 pm : link
I don't know if they'll win it, but Messi is playing the best football of his career right now (which means he may be playing the best football in history).

He's been particularly incredible on free kicks. I believe he's scored 8 or 9 this season alone...an unbelievable number.
Here is a video of Messi's free kick goals this season
Go Terps : 4/17/2019 7:34 pm : link
The video is a couple weeks old, and I believe is missing his most recent.

The Spurs have been doing this with Kane out, too.

Away goals
Go Terps : 4/17/2019 7:48 pm : link
I've long felt that managers tend to approach home/away ties the wrong way. Man City, for example, should have played their best XI (i.e. including De Bruyne and Sane) at Tottenham. Instead Guardiola sought to play a tight game in the away leg; you knew they were in trouble when Aguero missed the penalty.

The cardinal rule of these aggregate ties is to secure a clean sheet in the home leg. It has to be. Try to get your goals in the away leg.

The Red Bulls have been fucking this up for years, and it's enough to drive you to drink.

Kane missed over month mid-season, and Spurs won all 5 matches in his absence. So they've shown they can win without him. However, Son will miss first leg of the semi's because of the yellow he picked up tonight. Not having him along with Kane will hurt.

I didn't see the game today but was following it online at work (and posting on this thread). Now that I have had a chance to watch a replay, it looks very close to me, in fact so close I'm surprised they overturned the call on the field. Anyone have a link to a replay that shows a clear offside?

The replay you are seeing (and he is off sides in the replay) is when the ball is in the air. When it went off DaSilva’s foot he had to be two steps offsides
