Not trying to be a contrarian hipster about it either. I've never watched a second of it and never will. I get what it's about and appreciate that a lot of people like it but it just doesn't interest me whatsoever
All seriousness, i think people who don't have interest look at it as a genre that doesn't interest them. At least that's how I initially looked at it.
But in reality, a good story is a good story, and Game of Thrones is a great one!! If your into good TV, you are missing out.
This is not to say I could not get into it, just never have ...
I ended up watching the Sopranos last year for the first time. Once I picked up all the cultural references, I lost interest, about season 3.
This is not to say I am above such things, I'll still watch the old Star Treks, liked Breaking Bad, and suffered through the torture that was Walking Dead.
I don't think I made it past the first episode, doesn't make it stupid or anything. At the same time, I don't give a rat's ass if someone calls me lame or whatever for enjoying watching football every weekend in the fall, thinking the Office is funny, requesting bananas slices in my cereal and lap cats.
I had no clue what the show was about all those years ago, but the pilot got me hooked. Even though it's not as consistent as a show like Breaking Bad, the peak moments of GoT certainly puts it in the pantheon of great television dramas.

To each their own?
U need to get past at least 1 of the 67 episodes that are out there. I understand if medieval/sci Fi is not your thing (I actually don’t have much interest in that genre either)....but GoT is a GREAT show for anyone if you give it a chance.
Not my cup of tea...People sure do love it tho...I know how much I loved Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul...so it’s just a matter of what flips your switch.
My wife has been binge watching Dallas...it’s like Larry Hagman is my roommate.
HELP?!?!
I appreciate how the OP asked his question without putting down the Â
show or people who are into it. Some people love to say something’s stupid if they’ve never tried it.
To those asking if it’s worth getting into - it’s not for everyone, nothing is - but it’s really one of the better shows of all time. A couple friends who used to be in the “ive never seen an episode, I don’t get it” camp ended up binge watching it and have admitted they love it

Wait. Requesting banana slices in your cereal? You order cereal at a restaurant? Or are you asking your mom to cut the banana?
love the I have never watched the game and thrones and I never will crowd. I am not talking about the ones that just haven't had a chance or just didn't watch it because they didn't want to, but the ones that are like defiant and proud of it. Like we are all... "NOOOOO please watch it!" You don't want to watch then don't. To judge something without watching is pretty short sighted and doesn't actually make you cool.
That people can say something isn't "their thing" when they literally don't know what it's about at all....
Well. I watched it, didn't care for it.
So what do you recommend me doing? Say it is my thing and keep watching something I don't care to watch?
If you watched it and didn't care for it then the comment wasn't for you. It clearly says when they literally don't know what its about at all... that isn't you. You know and you don't have to like it. Just like they don't have to watch it. I find it funny though.... I refuse to watch it and I am proud of it... Ummm ok.
if someone doesn't watch Game of Thrones or any TV show for that matter.
People spend far too much time in other people's business and other people spend far too much time worrying about what other people think.
this is not a topic to get spun up about.
that said, and again, not judging, just informing, it's not THAT much of a TV watching commitment. It's an hour a week for 10 weeks out of the year for the early seasons, or for this final season, an hour a week for 6 weeks.
not some major "I'm going to get fat from all this couch potato TV watching"
If you like it great. I have heard people talking about it at work and it sounds like something I would have absolutely no interest in. I prefer watching sports and tv/movies based on more realistic content. Just a preference, to each his own.
Not my cup of tea...People sure do love it tho...I know how much I loved Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul...so it’s just a matter of what flips your switch.
I'd argue many of the people who love those 2 shows love GoT too. I certainly do. Good TV is good TV, even if it's more of a fantasy drama. I'd give it a chance before dismissing it. I'm glad I did.
And I am not the binge watching person to catch up.
Have too many other things going on to watch that much TV.
Sounds interesting tho.
At this point you don’t need to binge watch it’s almost over with on demand you can watch at your own pace. I’d suggest to give it a shot with a few episodes if it’s not for you then so be it
The only show I can't put it in front of is The Wire. Other great shows I have liked include The Shield, Sopranos, Dexter, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Ray Donovan, Billions, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul.
Well I was the one who stated GOT wasn't my thing...the OP stated he actually DID know what GOT was all about so i did assume the comment was for me. Tired of talking about ass-uming and "my thing" here!
A lot of Giants fans I know of personally rag on me for watching hockey. Who cares? It's all in good fun. I do the same in return to them for talking about the NCCA Basketball tournament, which I don't give a fuck about.

Season 1 kind of sucked and was slow. Its important to the series but you need to give it a chance. Breaking Bad I though season 1 was awful but I kept going. I am glad I did.

That is a good list right there. Although I haven't seen Ray Donovan or Boardwalk Empire.

How are you Am? Happy to see you posting more frequently at least recently. Maybe I am just seeing you more because its close to the draft.
To judge something without watching is pretty short sighted and doesn't actually make you cool.
But its a real time saver
Again if you are the I just think it is for me or I don't want to put a lot of time into a TV then I am not talking about you. I am only talking about the I haven't watch it and I never will defiant type because they think they are cool to be that way. To me if you haven't watched it you are missing out but so what. You could watch it and not like it. Things usually aren't this big unless it is really good though and even then some people won't like it. The acting is good, the story is good, but you don't have to watch it. It just doesn't make you cool to be like I don't watch it.

I am usually busy, but the BBI mock draft usually sucks me back in as I love the draft. Hahaha... hope you have been well brother.
Nothing is wrong. But "requesting" them? Seems odd. I've never ordered cereal in a restaurant. And I could only imagine how well it would go over if I "requested" bananas to be cut on top of my cereal. I suspect that I would have the cereal served to me over my head by my girlfriend.

Should I give GOT a go, or just let it pass by?

Exact same reason for me. Haven't watched a second and it is too late to start. It sounds interesting, but I can't commit that much time to catch up.

Same here. Not even sure what it's all about.

The new Vegans.

Ummm it is GoT not GT.... Oh i mean... NOOOOO Please watch it! hahaha no one cares.

I just wanted to see who was staying alert to trends.
Also sexist to assume my mother is the one to carry out the kitchen duties, here.
What about my father? He's quite "handy" in regards to good preparation.

I spend 0 seconds watching that every year.

I don't think you'll find any takers for that deal.
