1 week away: What would YOU give up to get Murray?

Big Blue '56 : 4/18/2019 8:50 am
This thread is essentially for those who really want him or would be fine with him here.

If you’d pass and have zero interest, this thread’s not for you. :)

Now this is about what you would give up if you were the GM and not what you think the Giants will do.

And go.

Oh please..Your post is fine. I was just interested to see what people who really like Murray would trade to get him..

Now Fat Mara, he’s another thing.
NYC would eat that guy alive...

So nothing.

The Giants need their picks and this guy is a huge risk.

Yes, the entire draft is a crap shoot. This guy personifies that fact.
The Manning Trade
Jim in NH : 4/18/2019 9:14 am : link
"The Giants traded the 4 pick, the following years 1st and a 3rd and a 5th to move up for Eli Manning"

Think how much more talent they would have had if they kept Rivers.
I think the size concerns with Murray are so overblown.
Brown Recluse : 4/18/2019 9:18 am : link
The NFL has such a bias against small players that it's ridiculous. Its been that way for decades and there is absolutely nothing factual to back it up.

Small players in the NFL who get hurt, in general, get hurt because they're already injury prone or they just had bad luck - just like the bigger players. Its not because they're small.

Other than a few minor bumps and bruises - no more or less than any other player - Murray doesn't have an injury history in college. If he could take the hits in college (or avoid them) the most likely scenario is that he'll do the same in the NFL.

All that said,
Brown Recluse : 4/18/2019 9:19 am : link
I wouldn't give up anything for Murray. If he fell to the Giants, I'd draft him in a heartbeat...but if not, there are just too many other holes on the roster right now to burn multiple picks on one guy - even if its a franchise QB.

to short with short arms. He is also a running QB which means he is more apt to get hurt. I would not draft him if he was available with the 6th pick.
I think
Giantophile : 4/18/2019 9:37 am : link
people are really underrating his potential. His floor might be low, but his ceiling is 'multiple MVP' caliber.

I for one think he's going to be superstar in this league and would use #6, 17 and 2nd rounder (maybe next year) to get him.
As a fan since 56
joeinpa : 4/18/2019 9:39 am : link
Hard to wrap my head around him as a Giants quarterback. It sure would be different.

Guess I m stuck in the “get off my lawn mode “ here. I wouldn’t trade up. But if Giants do I will be behind it.
I would give up a second round pick plus #6
Oscar : 4/18/2019 9:41 am : link
Otherwise I am out on a trade up. Happy to sit at 6 and see who’s there.
I would give up

Banks : 4/18/2019 9:47 am : link
that way I don't throw it when he's picked
I wouldn’t mind
darren in pdx : 4/18/2019 9:49 am : link
them doing the 6, 37 and a 2nd next year, probably would need to add another 3rd or fourth rounder. Think the injury concerns are overblown, he’s a pass first QB and talented runner. He isn’t RGIII or Vick. Worth the risk and the prospects of him and Barkley together sounds like a great combo.

If the Cards don’t take him somehow I hope they try to trade up to get him, or by some miracle he drops to 6.

Sammo85 : 4/18/2019 9:49 am : link
The Giants trading up cannot be considered for what the cost would take away from the team in building up and according to plan.

#6 and #37.

I think the guy has star written all over him and I think I will be very difficult for a defensive player to get a good shot at him.
Nothing
Semperfi : 4/18/2019 9:54 am : link
We have to many holes to fill and this is a deep draft.
Nothing.
rnargi : 4/18/2019 9:57 am : link
If Murray were to fall to 6, and the brass felt he was the right guy for the team going forward this year behind Eli, then so be it. If not, pick BPA at 6, 17, and 37. Too many holes to fill

Considering I’m All In On The Guy
Giants38 : 4/18/2019 10:08 am : link
A lot. I think Matt from SGS suggested a while back that it may cost the 6, 17, 95, and a 2020 2nd. I’d be fine with that.
Nothing I would draft him if he was there at 6
Zeke's Alibi : 4/18/2019 10:09 am : link
I think his upside represents to much, but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on our board at all. Size and personality concerns.

Haha I was thinking the same thing.
If he fell to the Jets pick, I'd give up 6, 37 and 108

.
Murray is accurate, has a strong arm, makes good decisions
Ira : 4/18/2019 10:12 am : link
and is a pass first qb who is as mobile as a 3rd down running back.

That's a lot, even for a top QB prospect — but if they think he's their guy, they should go get him, they way they went and got Eli.

I don't have strong feelings about Murray. He was amazing in college but it's a different game in the NFL.

I have a sense he'll be there at 6 and we pass on him.

Easy pass here.
This thread should be saved
Josh in the City : 4/18/2019 10:31 am : link
so we can see how many people here embarrassed themselves with their shortsighted and unresearched opinion. This thread will end up looking a lot like the pre-draft Patrick Mahomes thread for a couple of years ago. Murray is going to an absolute stud and I'd give up 6, 17, and our 2nd rounder to get him.
Would Not Trade Up To 1st Overall
Jim in Tampa : 4/18/2019 10:48 am : link
But if he fell to 3 or 4 (Jets/Oak) and one of those teams would take 6, 37 and one of the 4s or 5s, I would do it. (But it would likely take more.)

I think Murray has a chance to be a star in the NFL and I'm a "gamble on greatness" type of drafter.

Except Tarkenton was never a runner. He scrambled to keep a play alive or to go out of bounds. Murray is a runner. He, like all runners, are far more susceptible to the big hit than a scrambler is

Him before Rd 3. Not an NFL QB
Kept Rivers?
Carl in CT : 4/18/2019 11:34 am : link
Are you saying that Rivers is better? Not in my book. So we threw in a pick used on a kicker and I believe a busy edge rusher. I’ll take Eli and our two championships.
I agree, Blue ...
Manny in CA : 4/18/2019 11:54 am : link

One big hit away from disaster. But, if he's the next Russel Wilson - he can deliver a Lombardi Trophy.
I would take him at 6 for sure
YAJ2112 : 4/18/2019 1:04 pm : link
I'd prefer to give up just 6 and either 17 or 37 in a trade up.

I think it's a moot point because Arizona is going to take him.
Just a thought. With the 17th pick, the trade value chart shows that
Ira : 4/18/2019 3:08 pm : link
the Giants have enough points with picks 6, 17 and 37 to trade up to the first pick - that's if they go according the the Trade Value Chart. Actually we have 80 extra points. Could that have been a small factor in the Beckham trade?
Trade Value Chart - ( New Window )
I wouldn't give up anything
Amtoft : 4/18/2019 3:17 pm : link
because if I move up I want one of the big 3 lock stud Def players. However if AZ passed on Murray and he fell to 4 then I would give up my 3rd this year and 2nd next year.

Here is how I try and judge players. If you put Daniel Jones or Dwayne Haskins or Lock on Oklahoma they would better, but wouldn't match Kyler Murray in numbers with exception of Haskins. If you put Kyler Murray on Mizz, Duke, Ohio State, etc he would beat their stats outside of maybe Haskins.

He is the best QB in this draft and special.
My 1st and a 4th
5BowlsSoon : 4/18/2019 4:04 pm : link
I’m not losing any sleep to get Murray. Same as last year, I didn’t care about any of the qbs and definitely preferred Barkley.
Here’s my take..
Q v2.0 : 4/18/2019 6:48 pm : link
I’d give up the 6, the 17, next year’s 1 and 3 if Mike Leach is coming along in the deal to teach the Air Raid to the Giants offense in the few May/June walk throughs and no contact practices, and during the padded practice restrictions during trading camp and the pre-season. :-]
I'd Give
BlueVinnie : 4/18/2019 7:38 pm : link
6, 17 and the 2ND rounder although initial offer would be 6, 17 and 3Rd rounder.
Yeah, there's other holes to fill however the QB situation must be addressed. If not this year then next. Worry about plugging the holes next year with your full allotment if draft picks and all the cap money you'll have.
Slightly more than what we gave up for Eli in 04
