1 week away: What would YOU give up to get Murray?

Big Blue '56 : 4/18/2019 8:50 am
This thread is essentially for those who really want him or would be fine with him here.

If you’d pass and have zero interest, this thread’s not for you. :)

Now this is about what you would give up if you were the GM and not what you think the Giants will do.

And go.

Why won't he last?
Not sure...

... I think #6 and #37 would be the most I would give up. But I'm just a dumb fan... lol

Fwiw, Charlie Weis not only believes he’ll survive, he believes he’ll be quite successful
Would not trade up for anything less than a sure-fire star QB
rich in DC : 4/18/2019 8:58 am : link
That's not Murray.

Not only would I NOT trade up to take him, I would not take him at #6 either.

The only reason that Murray is in the #1 overall discussion is because the new HC in Arizona runs a gimmick offense that Murray is at least familiar with.

That's called "fit" with a team's offense. There are not a lot of teams that run anything similar. Further, with the league-wide decline in OL play, and Defensive players getting bigger, stronger, faster all the time, a smaller QB's useful life-span in this league will be measured in less than 6 years.

Even bigger QBs are getting gun-shy. Look at Eli. That's why the Giants are fully intent on implementing a West Coast offense- get the ball out quickly and let the receivers win one-on-one battles for yards.

That's not Murray's game. He looks for the home-run ball and moves around looking for the big play rather than taking what the defense is giving.

In short, Murray is NOT a fit for the Giants offensive scheme. His style of play would also leave him battered and broken down after several years behind the Giants OL. Avoid at all costs.

Devil’s advocate: So, by implication, you don’t believe the Giants will fix the OL “after several” years?
I'd..
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/18/2019 9:01 am : link
give up your left nut.

You are too old to need it anyway.

I'm not giving up anything of my own or the Giants!! :)
I would trade
twostepgiants : 4/18/2019 9:02 am : link
The Giants traded the 4 pick, the following years 1st and a 3rd and a 5th to move up for Eli Manning

So I would give:

The 6 pick, the 17 pick and next years 2nd OR the 6 pick, the 37 pick and next years 2nd rounder.
Nothing
GothamGiants : 4/18/2019 9:03 am : link
but I would trade up for Q Williams
Size
jtgiants : 4/18/2019 9:04 am : link
Is why he won't last. Wilson is taller and the exception. There's no way he lasts long in the league. Not interested
If Murray's available at 6
WillieYoung : 4/18/2019 9:04 am : link
I take him in a heartbeat and start worrying about who's going to play QB for us in 2035.
If I traded for him
Bill L : 4/18/2019 9:04 am : link
could he get me dugout seats to better watch him play?
Too many holes to trade
section125 : 4/18/2019 9:05 am : link
what would be needed to get to #1.
It’s so interesting to see which posters

Cannot respect the wishes of the OP who has been on this website since 2001 and clearly laid it out in the OP.

I would give up 6, 17 and and a day 3 pick
UberAlias : 4/18/2019 9:06 am : link
without a doubt. He's going to be better than Baker. Better than Wilson.
If I..
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/18/2019 9:07 am : link
were the GM, I'd still give up that long-time poster's left nut.

If they bargained hard enough, I'd offer the right as well.

As for picks, cash, players. I'd give them nothing. I said NOTHING, Sir!!!

jt, who is your pick at 6 right now as we stand 1 week away?
I wouldn't mind having him, if he dropped to 6.
Beezer : 4/18/2019 9:08 am : link
I think 6 is a reasonable gamble on a kid with that much upset. But to "give up" anything more? To slide up? I wouldn't do that for him.

I think there's an outside chance folks are surprised draft night. Not saying he WILL drop. Just think it could happen if Arizona decides to build their team and stick with Rosen.

Your right. I missed the part about not posting if your not interested. I'll bow out. Honest mistake
And I also don't believe
Beezer : 4/18/2019 9:09 am : link
56 is giving up BOTH balls, so that's not a realistic trade. IMHO.

I’m torn about this bc he’s so electric
Giantsfanincuse : 4/18/2019 9:11 am : link
But at the same time I think we would weaken our team by giving up those high picks.... I think if Arizona was the team we had to trade with I’d pass. If he got to 4 or 5 and the cost would drop significantly I would have to think about it. But it would be really hard to pass on a defensive beast.

If he drops I will be going effing bananas until we pick... lol. I just feel like this kid has it. I think he will last because he never seems to take a clean hit. Even the cheap shot he took from Quinnen Williams he got right back up and brought them back into that game.
My offer is this...

Oh please..Your post is fine. I was just interested to see what people who really like Murray would trade to get him..

Now Fat Mara, he’s another thing.
NYC would eat that guy alive...

ij_reilly : 4/18/2019 9:14 am : link
The Giants need their picks and this guy is a huge risk.

Yes, the entire draft is a crap shoot. This guy personifies that fact.
The Manning Trade
Jim in NH : 4/18/2019 9:14 am : link
"The Giants traded the 4 pick, the following years 1st and a 3rd and a 5th to move up for Eli Manning"

Think how much more talent they would have had if they kept Rivers.
I think the size concerns with Murray are so overblown.
Brown Recluse : 4/18/2019 9:18 am : link
The NFL has such a bias against small players that it's ridiculous. Its been that way for decades and there is absolutely nothing factual to back it up.

Small players in the NFL who get hurt, in general, get hurt because they're already injury prone or they just had bad luck - just like the bigger players. Its not because they're small.

Other than a few minor bumps and bruises - no more or less than any other player - Murray doesn't have an injury history in college. If he could take the hits in college (or avoid them) the most likely scenario is that he'll do the same in the NFL.

All that said,
Brown Recluse : 4/18/2019 9:19 am : link
I wouldn't give up anything for Murray. If he fell to the Giants, I'd draft him in a heartbeat...but if not, there are just too many other holes on the roster right now to burn multiple picks on one guy - even if its a franchise QB.

to short with short arms. He is also a running QB which means he is more apt to get hurt. I would not draft him if he was available with the 6th pick.
I think
Giantophile : 4/18/2019 9:37 am : link
people are really underrating his potential. His floor might be low, but his ceiling is 'multiple MVP' caliber.

I for one think he's going to be superstar in this league and would use #6, 17 and 2nd rounder (maybe next year) to get him.
As a fan since 56
joeinpa : 4/18/2019 9:39 am : link
Hard to wrap my head around him as a Giants quarterback. It sure would be different.

Guess I m stuck in the “get off my lawn mode “ here. I wouldn’t trade up. But if Giants do I will be behind it.
I would give up a second round pick plus #6
Oscar : 4/18/2019 9:41 am : link
Otherwise I am out on a trade up. Happy to sit at 6 and see who’s there.
I would give up

your bank account.
my remote
Banks : 4/18/2019 9:47 am : link
that way I don't throw it when he's picked
I wouldn’t mind
darren in pdx : 4/18/2019 9:49 am : link
them doing the 6, 37 and a 2nd next year, probably would need to add another 3rd or fourth rounder. Think the injury concerns are overblown, he’s a pass first QB and talented runner. He isn’t RGIII or Vick. Worth the risk and the prospects of him and Barkley together sounds like a great combo.

If the Cards don’t take him somehow I hope they try to trade up to get him, or by some miracle he drops to 6.
Nothing
Sammo85 : 4/18/2019 9:49 am : link
The Giants trading up cannot be considered for what the cost would take away from the team in building up and according to plan.

#6 and #37.

I think the guy has star written all over him and I think I will be very difficult for a defensive player to get a good shot at him.
Nothing
Semperfi : 4/18/2019 9:54 am : link
We have to many holes to fill and this is a deep draft.
Nothing.
rnargi : 4/18/2019 9:57 am : link
If Murray were to fall to 6, and the brass felt he was the right guy for the team going forward this year behind Eli, then so be it. If not, pick BPA at 6, 17, and 37. Too many holes to fill
When Murray turns into next Mahomes

Considering I’m All In On The Guy
Giants38 : 4/18/2019 10:08 am : link
A lot. I think Matt from SGS suggested a while back that it may cost the 6, 17, 95, and a 2020 2nd. I’d be fine with that.
