Best Player available

Regardless of need, this seems to be Gettlemens philosophy. You may not get a Gold Jacket prospect with 6th pick but should get the opportunity to get a pro bowl caliber starter. This makes it hard to predict, have to see who gets taken and how their board stacks up.
I applaud the Giants secrecy!
Their intentions would be much more secure

If it wasn't well understood that a QB isn't in play at 6. If the team is hoping one of the blue chippers fall, best scenario would be to have a team deal ahead of them to get a QB. Best way to ensure that is to get it out there that you are hot on the QBs. But that's not out there, so either they really do want a QB and are fooling everyone, or they haven't mislead much.
I expect

probowl caliber players at 6 and 17. I expect a solid starter at 37.

may not happen but that is what I expect.
Gettleman's philosophy is:

~Run the Ball
~Stop the Run
~Get to the Quarterback
~Change the culture of the locker room

Who is the best player available who fits that philosophy?
If DG truly sticks to BPA and not need, the #6

pick could very well be Hockenson. He is, from the sound of it, quite high on most boards.
They already have a player
Gman11 : 4/18/2019 9:42 am : link
like Hockensen on the roster. With all the other holes on the team it would be crazy to add another.

Engram and Ellison put together probably don’t even equal Hockensen’s floor let alone his potential. I’m not saying he is worth the #6 or he is rated that high on their board because I think DG would value other positions more giving them a higher rating. But Hock is in a different cat abort than our current te’s and I really like Engram and Ellison.

Dexter Lawrence ...
Monster - ( New Window )
Hockenson

Followed by Dexter Lawrence and Jaylon Ferguson could also be a great start.

Yes I will continue banging the drum for Dexter. He is a mountain of a man with rare athleticism for a guy his size. He could be everything we loved about Snacks, with a little more upside as a pass rusher. He made Clemson’s DL go.

Tomlinson, Lawrence, Hill on the DL - laugh at teams trying to run the ball

They have no one like Hock. I’d grab him at 17 if he’s on the board.

I keep reading posts on this forum that seem to indicate that someone

thinks Hockenson is a cross between Gronkowski and Bavaro. IMO, he's good, but not that good. It's true that he both blocks and receives, but to me, he isn't great in either area. I'd rate him as a late 1st.

He is without a doubt a great blocker. I question his upside in the pass game, but he is a day 1 impact player in the run game no question.

I don’t think he’s worthy of 6th overall, but I wouldn’t hate it either
