NGT: Texas A& M worried about losing Jimbo

ajr2456 : 4/18/2019 6:01 pm
To LSU.

Real concern amongst boosters that Jimbo will follow the AD to LSU. His contract has no buyout. Would be a bad look for A& M.
College coaches are all snakes

Jumping at the best opportunity they can while the students get fucked. If a coach leaves voluntarily any kid he recruited/awarded a scholarship should be free to walk without any issue.
What idiots at A&M

10 years/75M, fully guaranteed, WITH NO BUYOUT.
There isn’t a problem with recruiting...

under Orgeron. They finished 7th and kept a lot of Louisiana’s great players home.

They just can’t modernize that offense. Miles essentially tried to be Schembechler 2.0; and Orgeron can’t find the right path to the modern game either.

One thing for sure - Jimbo would fix that...
They can refuse to let him go

They can say coach here or retire. They are still out the money but he cAnt take another job as a college HC.
Jimbo Fisher is an ass, and despite the National Championship

he will always be hated by many in the FSU fanbase. In the final years of his time there he began to consistently recruit bad apples. Players like Malik Henry and Deondre Francois at the QB position and a host of others who were highly rated, but passed over by other programs because of character issues. It got so bad that the kids had to sign a "promise to play hard" in front of a national audience on that Showtime series after quitting on the field against Louisville.

Even worse, the graduation rate dropped so low under Fisher that they are (or were) on the brink of probation. If insiders are to be believed, this is part of the reason why Francois was even allowed back in December before his domestic violence tape, they needed him to graduate so he can transfer out as a grad transfer!

Then at the very end, when it's clear that he was going to leave, he stopped recruiting altogether, apparently breaking off contact with recruits even before his contract was terminated. Then he leaves and badmouths the university!

Willie Taggart may or may not turn around the mess that Fisher left,. and Taggart may not have made all the right moves in year one, but at least he has some integrity and is trying to do the right thing for the kids and that program.

If he bails on TAMU early, everyone in College Station should breathe a sigh of relief that they dodged a bullet by not having that guy around anymore.

Ha nice rant. Did you go to FSU? I can't disagree. He was a good recruiter of talent, not that great of a coach given how much talent he had, and had zero moral standards for his players. FSU became the most reviled program in the country. They were almost as morally corrupt as UF under Urban Meyer.
Jimbo

was a student of Saban and replicated Saban's machine/program at FSU. But, unlike Bama, FSU has limits to how much money and control they were willing to give any head coach. So Fisher bailed for a place that would give him that money and control (plus there's the stuff involving his family but that's another matter).

Taggart on the other hand, almost got fired last year after UF curb-stomped them. Another disappointing season and he will get chef-caned because FSU hates losing more than anything else. They could conceivably fire Taggart and name Briles as Head coach if they think they're going to lose him.

You think the brass in Tallahassee is willing to take that leap with Briles??
It's good to know that you still don't really have your pulse
BigBlueBuff : 4/19/2019 3:24 am : link
on FSU despite living in Tallahassee. It must Da U Goggles.

Taggart was never close to being fired last year, and it would take a terrible season for him to get fired this year and even then the boosters would have to step up for that change to occur. The FSU athletic department is in terrible financial shape right now and is saving money wherever it can. If he wins 7 games, and the schedule is very easy and set up for at least that many, then he gets his third year.

By all accounts Briles and Clements are huge upgrades over Bell and Frey, and they've cleared out some bad trash on that roster. 7-5 or 8-4 are not only possible, but likely. Vegas agree with the O/U set at 7.5.

whatever you say.

Briles was a very contested hire b/c of his past behavior and what happened at Baylor. Many people were unhappy he was hired. However many people were unhappy with FSU's recent struggles and underachieving. For a program that considers itself one of the elite in CFB (and justifiably so), last year was a bitter pill to swallow.
The big money boosters at LSU hate Jimbo Fisher, though

There's a guy on a UVA board I post on who is very plugged in with high level people in the SEC. He's a legit insider. This is what he said about LSU moneymen's opinion of Fisher:

"Lied, then he lied again, and lastly he lied
He can lie to the players. He cam lie to the media. He can lie to the NCAA. He can lie to the administration. He canNOT lie to the the guys writing the checks.

At a dinner at Flemings with a few of them, I politely asked about his possible return to Baton Rouge, to which I hot the reply, "If that lying, chicken shit son of a bitch comes back here, he better bring alligator repellent".
I can say with 100%
ajr2456 : 4/19/2019 4:21 pm : link
Certainty, Willie wasn’t close to getting fired.
