Lets Play “What IF” - what if the Giants hired John Dorsey

that the Giants wanted to interview Dorsey but the Browns moved too quickly and hired him. I honestly believe that he would have been hired instead of Gettleman had he interviewed for the job. We would be sitting here today with either Mayfield or Darnold instead of Barkley.

he would have drafted Barkley
he would have fixed the OL, the DL, and the secondary
he would have lured Belichick away from NE
he would have mad Ernie Adams his head of mayhem
Giants would have won the SB in his 1st year

I don't know the guy at all. But probably he picks one of the QBs or he does a DG and takes the best player in the draft - Saquon Barkley.

I don’t. He would have been hired with the same exact stipulations as Gettleman. Eli was the starting QB in 2018, no one but bring back Belichick would have changed that, IMO.

And Dorsey loved Barkley, so we would have done exactly that.

What if I told you that John Dorsey would be George Young 2.0 for the Giants?

The Giants don’t hire Shurmur but keep Spags on a 1 yr extension. Shurmur lands in Arizona.

The Giants par with Flowers and Apple at years end but do not trade JPP and do not deal for Ogletree.

The Giants do not sign Nate Solder but sign Chris Hubbard and Greg Robinson on th OL.

In the draft, the Browns take Darnold at 1 and the Giants driven by Dorsey’s love of Mayfield (he had Kingsbury like comments on Baker months before) take Mayfield at 2. The Jets take Rosen and Barkley goes to the Browns at 4.

The Giants start Eli Manning in the beginning of the year and get off to a similarly awful start as the schedule was just very difficult. The Giants go 1-7 and ultimately make the change to Baker Mayfield at the bye week.

In the 2nd half if the year the Giants show some signs improvement going 4-4 and finish 5-11 landing the 6 pick in the draft.

At the years end Spagnoulo is let go and Eli Manning is released. Eli signs with Shurmurs Arizona Cardinals.

The Giants conduct a full HC search and hire Kevin Stefaniski.

The Giants trade up with Pat Shurmurs Arizona Cardinals and select Quinnen Williams. The Cards take Dwayne Haskins with the 6 pick.

The Giants do not trade Odell Beckham.

But, in general, I'd like to think a majority of GMs understand the value of a QB over a RB.

And with a dinosaur at QB, most take the right and easy decision. They draft a QB.

Solving the Giants QB situation for the next 15 years

Unless Mara overrules him and it's still Barkley. Who knows really. Browns at 1 needed a QB so they wouldn't be taking Barkley no matter who their GM was

I think you are being serious here.

Any new GM that would've kept spags as the HC would be immediately questioned for poor decision making.

I was just trying to predict based on his record in Cleveland and he kept the winless Hue Jackson so I thought maybe heres a guy who wants to assess everything before making wholesale changes and maybe he didnt like the 2018 HC class so he deferred a year and I thought maybe he would do same with Giants. So I figured he gives Spags the year knowing he was a goner in a season. I have to figure he knew Hue wasnt his HC in Cleveland too.

you should have asked what if George Young knew what he had with Belichick. Tom Landry left because there was no money in pro football in the early 60's and he wanted to go home to TX. Landry was going to sell insurance before there was an expansion TX team. Wellington knew very well what he had with Lombardi but didn't have the vision or the guts to replace Howell or hire an Italian.
