the more hes becoming my favorite Qb in this draft. Im still not really sure why hes considered 2nd tier under Jones and Lock..
He's already 24 years old and he doesn't have much of an upside. Grier is nearly 3 years older than Daniel Jones. I don't think that Grier is tapped out in terms of upside.
The giants havent taken a qb in round 2 since pretty much ever. Certainly not in any draft I can remember. Maybe never. They just dont do it. Theyve drafted 3 QBs in round one since 79 - Simms, brown(supp draft) and Eli.
The giants have always gone big or dabbled in the mid rounds when drafting a qb. No second rounders and only 3 firsts since 79.

How could you forget Eddie Crowder in the '53 draft class? He was taken in the 2nd round.
Gettleman who admitted it s his most important task to find next quarterback after Eli, probably realizes it would be irresponsible for two straight years to have passed on 8 or 9 quarterbacks who were taken in first round.

The Giants drafted a true generational talent in Barkley last year. There is immense pressure on Gettleman to draft a new franchise QB so that the Giants don't waste the majority of Barkley's prime trying to find one as the Vikings did with Adrian Peterson. Of course if he selects the wrong QB then that would be even worse. I do not envy him.
that the QB the NYG value is NOT in the popular elite; he is raw but with Eli's mentoring and Shurmur's whispering they think he is the best bet to carry the NYG into the future. (Whomever he may be.)
To be clear, I think they will select a QB and it will not be another Webb or Lauletta backup "project".

So you're saying with pick 37, because Webb was in the third and Lauretta was a fourth.
Also, Gettleman said he wants to find the franchise guy and he believes those are in the first round.

plays through 2020 if you subscribe to the rookie sitting the first year. I hope this is not what happens. I think this is Eli's farewell tour . They go QB with their first pick
It should be lock. No other qb in this class is worth that pick. It would be a shame to see the giants force a pick at qb sandwiched between two superior qb classes, that's how you end up with Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Tannehill. This situation reeks of the 2008 Miami Dolphins (passing up on Matt Ryan and then panicking and selecting Tannehill 4 years later). Nothing has happened yet, but if Daniel Jones is the pick, would seriously have to question DGs ability to evaluate the position.
is that it would essentially take us out of the 2020 sweepstakes and much better prospects.
Lock is the only QB I can get behind there, his talent/potential is undeniable. The KC model as its been called.
I prefer the Dallas model or the 2017 Jaguars model .. i.e. mediocre QB can still win when he gets to hand it off 30+ times behind a good OL / stud RB with a quality defense.
Obviously I want a better QB than Dak/Bortles, my point was continue beefing up the OL for Saquon to dominate and use your other resources to draft to the strength of this draft. Surround our next QB will a quality supporting cast (offense and defense) rather than reach on a QB just to hear the future face of the franchise BS you hear every draft.
If they pick any QB at #6

then they've finally smokescreened us all.
Not all of us..
Please tell me its Lock if they go that route
I couldn't possibly say with 100% conviction but I have enough reason to believe Haskins is the preferred choice of the QBs. If he's not, that's where I got smoke screened lol. Haven't heard too much in regards to Lock or Jones with NYG tbh. More for Grier.
indicated Giants have been inquiring with them about moving up a few slots to #14 to get ahead of Redskins. Offering a middle and late round pick to do so.

Whoa that is big news, thanks for posting!
JonC was adamant that the Giants were not going QB last year
He mentioned on numerous occasions than he hadn't heard a peep about the Giants and Rosen despite the Giants doing a ton of homework on him and even taking him out to dinner. I remember Colin from GBN predicting that the Giants would take Rosen last year based on what he was hearing. Obviously JonC's information was much better than Colin's. For the record this is not a knock on Colin I was just saying the media often hears what teams want them to hear. This year it's Haskins who he hasn't heard anything on which makes me think that he will definitely not be the pick if the Giants go QB.
like Jones enough to trade up from 17 but they dont like him enough to take him at 6. Do people really believe this stuff?
It could be they like the QB but theres also an elite/higher graded prospect available at 6 so they stay true to their board - like a smart team should

I agree with you to an extent but they could have 2-3 QBs clustered together with none carrying an elite grade. That could account for them taking stud defender at 6 and then moving up to the 11-15 range.
having 2-3 QBs bunched together and not caring which 1 they get is equally unbelievable.
I believe theyll have a conviction on a particular QB abd when they do, theyll make sure they get him. When that point comes, they wont risk him over 8 slots. No effing way.
I appreciate the asshat reports just asuch as anyone but this one fell off the logic trails. Not buying it. Well find out soon enough.
The "in love with the QB" thing is mostly fan fairy tale bullshit. You evaluate the QBs and figure out which warts you're willing to live with and which guy(s) you're comfortable running your offense.
When you look at their board, there's a grade next to their name not a heart eye emoji or frowny face emoji.
especially by fans that think GM's draft boards are developed without flaws and biases. Conviction should be seen as more of the ultimate goal that probably is rarely ever achieved, at least not at 100%.
Wake up and smell the coffee as I have my first cup of the day...
Trade back into first round for him.
👎🏽
If the Giants are as bad as you think they are, theyll be in position to draft a QB in 2020 anyway.

I guess somethings changed.

Which is perfectly fine with me, in all honesty.
I believe Garafalo said he believes defense at six. Also, I heard Schefter thinks Rosen to Giants. Head is spinning, Thursday can't come fast enough.

There is so much misinformation floating around. Thank god there is only one more week left.

JonC and jtgiants and expect them to go defense at 6. I think that there is a 50/50 chance that they will trade up from 17 for a QB though.
^This. The wild card is either Rosen for or Grier at #37.
Rather have Rosen or Grier at 37 than Jones at 17 or higher.
Grier is trash, with a noodle arm. We dont need to pick up another Lauletta clone in Grier. Damn sure would take Jones of Grier any day of the week

You dont sit a QB picked at 6 for 2 years and they are ready to signal that this is Elis last year.

Why would they sit that QB for 2 years? Eli only has 1 year left on his deal.

A guy like Burns, Bush, or Dexter Lawrence will likely be sitting there at 17 ... I just cant see taking QB over any of them.
This draft needs to get here ASAP - interesting times.
Wake up and smell the coffee as I have my first cup of the day...
Any idea on how they rank these guys?
