What do you think the Cardinals do with Rosen?

Sean : 4/18/2019 9:08 pm
This is not a Rosen to NYG thread, just a general question on what the Cardinals will do with him. I’m assuming they will draft Murray.

1. They can keep Rosen and have an open competition in camp. If Rosen plays well combined with another QB getting hurt, his value goes back up to potentially a 2020 first round pick.

2. Trade him on draft day for likely a 2nd rounder.

I think it is fascinating to watch this play out. Who makes a move for him?

-Pats
-Redskins
-Chargers
-Steelers
-Giants

There are a ton of teams who could be in play for him. How do you think it plays out?

in last year's draft. Not ahead of Barkley, but ahead of Darnold. I don't really know how this is going to play out but if the Giants can somehow hold on to picks # 6 & 17 and get Rosen to succeed Manning I think it will be a coup!

I give ZERO credence to the fact that Rosen was a bust in his first NFL season. That Cardinal team belonged in the debunked AAF. I can't see how anyone can pass judgement on Rosen based on what the Cardinals fielded and were coached.

I'm one of those that's ALL IN for Rosen!

They're NOT Keeping Him if They Draft Murray
Jim in Tampa : 4/18/2019 9:31 pm : link
No way, no how.

You don't draft a new QB #1 overall and keep your previous QB of the future on the roster. That would be unfair to Murray and waaaay too much of a distraction.

Would love Rosen to end up with the NYG but I think he goes to Wash either for their #1 or for a #2 this year and #2 next year.

I have a weird feeling he ends up in Washington as well. Not sure why I think that will happen (that rumored trade package seemed fake to me), but I just do. I did like how he handled that interview today, seemed more mature.
Trade him.

trade Rosen as soon as they can. I don't know how Rosen would play in a cold-weather city, or in the face of NY media, but I'd love to see him here. (These are the reasons I think the Giants will take Haskins.)
He'll

be traded. Where? Who knows? Right now, I'm leaning towards San Diego, but that is just because there was a report they have already offered their second round pick.

For Rosen. If one of the big 3 fall to 6 take him (Bosa, Allen or Williams.. if not takr Hockenson at 6. Draft best defensive player available at 17 or move up to get a defensive player we covet. Championship

If they don't they confirm they are now the dumbest franchise in football - taking that crown from Cleveland who held it for a couple of decades.

If we could get Josh Rosen for #37, Gettleman would have to be crazy not to do it.
Cards will trade Rosen if they really want Murray
dd in Mass : 4/19/2019 8:09 am : link
I'm pretty sure the Giants will be talking with the Cards. All the question marks with Rosen last year were his durability, attitude, and mental toughness.

He took a beating and kept getting up. Even when the Cards were out of the game, he would hang in the pocket and take a hit.

Most all his teammates praised his work ethic, first in the building, always willing to help a teammate.

He never rattled, he never got down on himself. He went through a miserable season and yet his numbers weren't that bad compared to the other rookie QB's.

There are scouts who are more impressed with Rosen after last year's performance who didn't have him rated as high the year before.

Giants are interested, but someone is more interested apparently, and will therefore pay more. At this point, I'd be stunned if Rosen is a Giant, although I certainly hope it happens. So on to other options.

I think Gettlemen wants Rosen and is trying to hide his interests

One of Rosen's best skills is play action and that happens to be exactly the skill Shurmur most wants in a QB.

It settles short term QB issue at Giants for low cost

I think Gettlemen get Rosen for 37
I think it plays out this way:
Dave on the UWS : 4/19/2019 9:35 am : link
Az knows the teams that have been “rumored” to be interested. They will quietly reach out Wed to those teams and tell them Rosen is available, make your best offer. You will hear the trade announced after Murray goes #1. The Giants have the highest #2 pick to start with and a lot of draft capital. If Gettleman really likes him and can reconcile the “QB controversy” the NY media will trigger, he will be a Giant. Their are two exceptions to this. Washington- they offer #17 or New England offers a combo of #32 and one of their 2 second rd picks. They would be better packages.

Thegratefulhead : 4/19/2019 10:06 am : link
I believe it is pretty clear that they are going to trade him. If they were going to keep him, anytime anything was mentioned you would have heard Rosen is our guy as a mantra.

I believe the only way they trade him now is for first round pick. Closer to the draft Rosen will cost less and all the teams potentially trading for him know this so the Cardinals are not getting a first-round pick. I suspect Roseanne will be likely traded the day of the draft. If there is someone on the board at 37th at the Cardinals really like see the potential of something happening then. We might even get something back in return.
I don't care as long as the Giants don't trade for him! Rosen

LA & AZ are talking, with Tyrod Taylor involved along with the Chargers also offering pick #91. Az wants a Rd 1, but if the Chargers give up #60, the deal could move forward. Sort of makes sense, as Taylor could do like he did last year with Mayfield. Having a QB with traits like Murray's allows the offense to make more of a seamless transition from vet to rookie. I still think Mgmt would prefer Q. Williams to Murray, but hey, when have the Cards ever done anything sensible outside of drafting Fitz? Look how their D bellied up after Honey Badger left for Houston in 2018.

If the Giants are serious about Rosen, we should be able to compete with what the Chargers offer. The problem is if the Patriots are serious too. They have accumulated a wealth of picks, they can pretty much trump anything we can offer.

So Chargers are offering a late 3rd and a player Arizona could have signed for nothing. Arizona are clowns if they take anything like this deal.
