All slots or just Jones? Is it unrealistic that Allen potentially falls to 6? Looking at Sy's rankings on Joey's chart, it wouldn't surprise that Allen may be available at 6, especially if two QB's go in top 3. I think Dillard will probably go higher than 17, but who knows.
This would be a perfect draft, although I'm not sure its realistic Â
Sure enough, the big drama in his mock involves the team he covers (not to mention that the MIA-NYJ trade itself doesn't seem very plausible). I doubt he has any more insight into Gettleman's thinking than the average BBI poster. And he doesn't seem especially clued into where various various prospects stand on anyone's board.
Anyway, with regard to going EDGE at #6, OT at #17 and QB at #37, that's fine with me as long as the Giants stay true to their board. We all seem to agree that the team needs everything except a bell cow RB, so there's no reason to reach for a particular position.
I'm not 100% sure Allen would be the pick at #6, even if he were on the board. Sy'56 may be right that Allen is less of a slam-dunk than is widely assumed. If the team opts for Sweat/Gary/Oliver/Ferrell/Lawrence/Wilkins/White or any of the other defenders Sy has ranked above Allen, I'll just be thankful for the infusion of talent in an awful unit.
At #17, any of the top three consensus OTs (Williams/Dillard/Taylor) would make me happy. Then again, so would a lot of other things. Gettleman has mentioned that the OT class is deep. Well, he said "thick", but I think it's the same thing. So maybe they can hit other positions first, if the value is better. For example, while the class lacks a standout, shutdown cornerback, there might be several on the board at 17 with first-round grades. And if one of the Clemson man-mountains is still there, that could be a good option too.
QB at #37? Well, OK... though it will be a mild surprise if Jones lasts that long. FWIW, I'd rather trade that pick for Josh Rosen if the Cardinals are in dealing mode and the Giants are determined to come out of Day 2 with Eli's successor. I'm lukewarm on the whole QB urgency thing. Not saying Eli has been good - I think he has been mediocre since mid-2012. I just think the Draft may offer better solutions to other problems.
What a dream that would be. Trading with Miami and having them draft crap bust Haskins. And then ending up with Burns, a 2nd this year, and there 2nd AND 1st next year.

Why are you convinced that Haskins is a bust?
He can end up a bottom 10 starter in the league, but his mechanics are all out of whack. He doesn't have good mobility. Doesn't seem to have a very good mental processor regarding going through progressions. In another QB class he wouldn't really be getting all that much attention. But he's close to the top in what is going to end up a bad class.
Not a good mental processor? That is just talking out your ass. Â
I'll tell you why you say it, it's because you think there is a chance the Giants draft Haskins and so you can sit around and tell us how dumb the Giants are for passing on Darnold for Barkley before Haskins even plays a game.
If he put up the type of year this year in college next year Â
I don’t see Miami trading up to #3 to take Haskins.
It’s very unlikely that Allen will fall to #6, or that Jones will fall to #37.
The Giants will likely take Jones, Oliver, or Bush at #17, not Dillard.
I say its Defensive front 7 with 6 & 17. Hoping that DG is true to his word & they take BPA (yes, a very subjective term).
Of course, I am aware of Jones' rise. What are your thoughts on 6 and 17? I would be thrilled with Allen and Dillard.

Always baffles me when people speak so confidently about what they'll "likely" do, like there's any way that's known.

Make that happen!

You are like a horse fly.
